I don’t know if education has anything to do with this sort of bullying, but it is inexcusable behaviour towards innocent shoppers largely trying to do the right thing, and already under pressure. Politicising the pandemic sucks, and this group and certain Nat politicians are letting us down badly by doing so.

Normally, I would completely agree with your comment, but after watching the hours long convoy of people trying to get out of Auckland, which only stopped when police started turning people back at midnight, I am now seriously doubting the state of mind of a hell of a lot of kiwis… Considering that it would only take one or two of the tens of thousands who tried to flee the city to be infectious, to have a nationwide level 4 lockdown on the cards.. Real clever, and very mature, don’t you think?
Try your government Stef. Yesterday via email and call centre my jab was on. At 9am they have closed all Auckland vaccination centres for 14 days – no acknowledgement in the media therefore they are trying to bury this story. They are liars and now some very nice call centre operators are going to be shitkicked because of a liar government.
Do you blame people when they are continually lied to and let down by this government. What goes around comes around.

I totally agree, in Christchurch I observed full carparks at the supermarkets & bottle stores while driving to a meeting which would also seem to be an unnecessary risk.

If the index case is from a red flight from NSW isn’t this the people that went to Aus knowing they might not be able to get back and therefore went with the knowledge of, leave at your own risks. Also was the red flight NZers required to do the MIQ if not this is a bad mistake made by our government. And why do our media keep saying Delta is here when it’s actually been here in MIQ for ages with many coming back now with Delta. Also why isn’t the pre testing not picking those infected up especially when some are testing positive on day 0.
NZers coming back now and travelling for whatever reason unvaccinated are putting us all at greater risks and costing our country billions of borrowed dollars. We need to revisit our strategies for MIQ and our ports as well as letting people in as long as Delta is out there people coming and going need to be fully vaccinated, have a extensive isolation plan and if need be prepared to go into MIQ. In the meantime people packing up and going to their holiday homes need to be issued big fines as a deterent. People breaching their bubbles need to be warned if caught and fined if breaching again. As for those saying open up the borders they are welcome to leave if they are not happy here.

Kraut. The Bill of Rights gives all NZ’ers the right to refuse medical treatment, and that’s an important freedom, which shouldn’t be relinquished. Compulsory vaccination would set an unfortunate precedent,
and it would probably also require legislative change – which won’t happen.
The pro-active anti-vaxxers, are also exercising their important right to freedom of speech. But it’s a different matter if thick broadcasters like this Williams person are allowed to propagate ill-informed opinions to audiences who might be disturbed by him. His bosses should be called to account for this, and they shoul be required to justify why he is being paid to preach in opposition to expert government scientists’ opinion. It’s another delicate situation, but the public good should be foremost here, as you say. Most of us are capable of doing our own research, and we are free to do it, so there is no need to have to “ depend” upon radio hacks to do it for us.
Billy what’s his name looks to me like a nasty piece of work and not quite right in the head, Groundswell misogynistic bullies, and horrible horrible primitive sort of people – the politicians who have been supporting them should step right back now and disassociate themselves from Groundswell, and we should be asking them to if Groundswell are boasting about behaving anti-socially towards innocent persons. Groundswell needs those pollies and won’t want to alienate them, but they have gone too far this time.

I think its a great idea , because tactically it should be a massive backfire for farmer sympathy . Given that around 80% of kiwis will eventually get vaccinated and are being ” good citizens ” in a serious lockdown ,any minority group which threatens community safety is likely to alienate themselves and incur significant backlash .
If theses Trumpian hayseeds want to hitch their wagon to ,anti vax/flat earth/no climate change and the delta isn’t real camp ,while doing rootn-tootn donuts in their 2 ton fossil hungry SUV’s ,then I say let them go for it.
The visiblity of these people now “out of the wood work ” is a call to action for Kiwis who want a progressive and inclusive ,covid free , zero carbon future for NZ .
The only ground swell we are likely to see is from the vast majority of kiwis who will rightly pin them for being the selfish immature dickheads that they are .Self marginalisation is such a refreshing concept .Go for it .
