Please, please, please Labour, implement Hate Speech laws AFTER 2023 election

I think the 2023 election is actually going to be a lot closer than I had first thought.

Jacinda is emotionally welded to the Hate Speech legislation and will do what Labour are doing with the Gay Conversion Therapy legislation and ram it through before Christmas.

I think that could be politically dangerous.

If the Hate Speech laws are passed before the 2023 election, that will see woke activists launching their vast purge tsunami of complaints against everyone they’ve ever disagreed with.

The woke threshold for hate is so low that saying ‘hello what a lovely day’ can be immediately construed as a hate crime because how can it be a lovely day when the heteronormative white cis male patriarchy are still in charge, you are gaslighting me’.

Watching an explosion of hate speech investigations lodged with the police leading up to an election that will be very polarizing and scare the bejesus out of the middle and cause a political backlash against the left.

What Labour aren’t calculating is the gleeful anticipation the Woke have for their Spanish Inquisition once the laws are passed and all the fears of Hate Speech will surface as we go into election year.

Strangling off Free Speech and nudging us towards a Police State is one thing, doing it and losing an election while leaving that Police State infrastructure in place is just fucking stupid!

  1. Hate speech laws.

Always an angle, always a motive, always some bastard trying to get one over some other poor bastard.

No different from what I’m reading about at this early hour of the morn’, …just a different topic in modern parlance… and I’m drinkin’ rum, no less! Maybe unrelated, … but still has relevance for the greater understanding of our very, very frail and fragile human society and its systems. We should all be concerned and learn our history before we cast the first stone. My point is that the Maori people have put up with shit like this ongoing patronizing paternalistic woke garbage for the last century in different guises and more, much more… and still we carry on.

Good God , y’all ! The paternalistic, ingrained prejudices and racist attitudes in this country are something else to behold!

  2. Dont worry Martyn, im sure Labours internal polling and focus group outcomes will make Labour delay or make changes to the actual wording of the law…they wont rush ahead with this until the next cpl of polls show them back at 50% or so support. Would be rude not to eh?

  3. Labour would get to virtue signal and slide comfortably and happily back into opposition.
I was amazed how fast National slipped gratefully into opposition mode when they most recently lost the benches of power.

    • Nah mate its all to do with the rise and fall of empires. The Romans perfected that carry on 2000 years ago. They even instituted it into their ‘Olympic Games’ ,… its called ‘passing the baton’ mate.

      Bread and circuses, right?

  4. It’s not about the election, it is about whether Labeen are fit to govern. Clearly if they can’t see the extreme flaws in the hate speech laws while ignoring massive and growing problems around health care, homelessness, pollution (which they are enabling while trying to divert responsibility for bad decisions on the public) and inability to get anything done in NZ….. based on their woke ways, then they should not be in power.

  5. So let me get this straight Martyn: you don’t mind hate speech legislation provided it’s brought in after the election?

This is quite a syndrome with you Bomber – you’re more worried about the short-term electoral consequences of this government’s various nefarious policies than about the longer-term negative effects of said policies on our democracy.

SaveNZ has framed the situation far better – this is not about winning the next election, it’s about whether LINO-GINO are fit to govern. Their relentless focus on identity politics (instead of rolling back user-pays and neoliberalism) tells me they are not fit to govern.

      • In todays strange times, sarcasm is missed. Labeen need a clearer message than just lie and then bring in afterwards – politicians bread and butter.

      • Hahaha priceless response! That law is a disaster either side of the election. Before means Labour might or will lose. After means National will revoke it. While that would be good, revoking policies is one the bad side effects of the 3 year cycle. Revoke this, revoke that has become election promise after election promise. NZ won’t get anywhere with our political system as it stands. It’s a fuck up for progress.

  6. “I think the 2023 election is actually going to be a lot closer than I had first thought”

    Labour could well lose.

We’ve saw ‘Peak Ardern’ about nine months ago and it’s been a slippery slope ever since. Emotions can only be maintained for a finite time before there’s a corresponding cold dawn of realization. Covid 19 should be history by then and the voters paying attention to the long list of disasters she’s created.

    • ‘Covid 19 should be history by then’ unfortunately Andrew that is wishful thinking! Be rest assured there will be a national lvl4 lockdown when Labours polling hits 40% or less, they cannot run on their ‘successes’ as they could be written on the back of a postage stamp…Covid fear is their only way back into power, and they know it.

      • Sadly true as the globalists and leftists aided by their MSM propaganda wing are making as much of this pandemic as possible before they shift gears into continuing the same restrictions as an attempt to “save the planet” from the IPCC supported “climate emergency”. Still there is hope as SARS 1.0 disappeared almost overnight so this lurgy may do the same.

        • Are you from the USA?… are you one of those who continually confuse communism with socialism?

Do you have a problem with Scandinavia who by all intents and purposes are completely western in their approach? Are you new to New Zealand? Do you not even understand the difference between globalists and the one world govt thing and those of the center left as in Scandinavia?

You know,… that group of country’s that has the highest wages per capita of the western world and leaves the USA with its poverty and homelessness for dead?

You know,- the land of ‘too big to fail’ and corporate welfare?

The land of free market capitalism and what not?

          • WILD KATIPO you’ve never visited Scandinavia, have you?

All of the Scandinavian countries are strongly capitalist in outlook, and Norway in particular is highly conservative. Sweden tried socialism in the 70’s & 80’s until their economy crashed and since then they’ve gone back to their previously successful formula of naked capitalism.

And you may also find it interesting that Sweden has an education voucher system enabling parents to shop around the various educational offerings, both public and private. This is an ACT policy.

Having big social welfare programs doesn’t make them Socialist, whose definition is the “state control of the means of production and distribution”

      • I see paranoia is alive and well on the NZ right. Depressing, because we need some sort of coherent and realistic alternative to the current LINO-GINO government.

  7. Not going to happen. Hate speech legislation will be rushed into law as the “woke” left needs a constant supply of manufactured victims to justify its oppression narrative. Demand for this far exceeds supply hence the constant need to invent imaginary crimes to support the narrative that NZ is filled with evil people causing pain and suffering with their words and thoughts. The champagne corks will be popping in the offices of the NZ Race Relations Commissioner on the night this passes into law.

  8. Hahaha priceless response!

  9. It also plays into the Nats hands as well.

If one of theirs is done, someone will go to court to appeal the conviction and the respondents will be the Attorney General, the PM and Ors.

That would be worth it going all the way to the Supreme Court to have the arse torn out of it as it is a poorly thought through bs piece of legislation.

  10. Jacinda Ardern and her Labour colleagues are incapable of governing our country.
    Their track record is disgraceful.
By every measure they have failed dismally.
They have divided us as nation as never before on race and ethnicity plus widened the gap between rich and poor.
Where is the true Labour Party?

    • I agree John but when Jacinda has a week from hell with a power blackout and a close call with covid and the only think you read about National is their poor conference I worry the swing voters will not swing back to National

  11. ‘Freedom’ is the byword of the freemarket coup of 1980. It’s creating useful idiots for the rich as I write. Why don’t you talk about that? Freedom didn’t have a thing to say in 1939, nor should it now. The unity of democracy is required. It’s the weasel word of the trickle-downers who will kill me dead before my time even at 55, let alone you lot.
