John Key calls MIQ booking system a ‘failure’

The MIQ booking system has come under fire again today with former Prime Minister John Key calling it a “failure” and National floating the idea of a points-based system for returnees.

The whole point of MIQ is to stop the bloody virus getting into NZ, and since it has managed to do that, it hasn’t failed at all and in fact has been an essential part of us surviving Covid so what John is really saying is that MIQ is a ‘failure’ for rich white people like him who can’t believe they have to have any restraints placed upon their global movement.

In short, shut the fuck up John.

If we want the State to lie about mass surveillance, dirty politics or ponytail pulling you’re on speed dial.

    • Come on Bertie. You’ve still got the final drops of KDS (Key Derangement Syndrome) in your body.

For the record it’s clear you can’t have your cake and eat it with an elimination strategy and quarantine. Sydney has shown that to be true. It is becoming clear that the fuck up associated with booking MIQ spots is ironically, one of the reasons we have kept the Indian variant out of NZ.

      • Thank you Frankie for pointing out Key is deranged. You’re not all bad, however what is clear is we have been kept safe by fantastic government as the evidence shows.

        • Is KDS a new viral form of covid?,- geez ! I hope I don’t get it! Thank goodness for this govt even though many of us live on park benches,… they have at least protected us from things like KDS !!!

    • Exactly Bert.
If he wants to talk about failures, lets start with 9 years of infrastructure deterioration.

      • Oh c’mon.

At first our friendly neighborhood Nats appear as nasty, globalist, venal money grabbing thugs, but in actual fact what they really are is tree hugging virtuous ‘back to the landers’ who encourage us all to give up the notion of living in warm, affordable homes, – and instead get back to nature and live in parks, sleeping on park benches and in cozy alleyways and feed our family’s on half eaten sandwiches succored from the local rubbish bins.

See? Recycling at its best ! Policy in action !

  1. Agreed totally MIQ is not a failure although it’s had a few close shaves – due mainly to casual attitudes earlier on among some of the people managing it and/or lack of resource.
What is a failure is the complete shambles of an MIQ booking system that could and should have been rectified by now. But what’s new about that – it’s the same people involved who’ve been responsible for the neo-kindness in immigration policy and enforcement!
Yes! STFU John Key. We all know he’d be happy with the various exemptions for his mover and shaker mates (as are a few in gummint)

  2. It may have stopped the virus but it has also stopped families reuniting for up to 18 months. It has stopped valuable workers getting in to help harvest the crops needed to feed the World. It has stopped business people from going overseas to sell and get home these people make the money that is taxed to support our lives.
It seems the only people that can travel freely are sports celebrities and entertainers and billionaires

      • Spot on…… I’m amazed how many ‘death cult capitalist’ are still out there spouting their rubbish about business is all important, uber alles, money is mammon, people aren’t any where near as important as, money/business and the rich getting richer.
And p.s. Who the hell says we must all risk catching covid and thus 1,000’s die so we can feed the world?????? I don’t recall signing up for that…..

        • Oh come on, don’t be so melodramatic!

The Nats love us to bits!- what with personal responsibility and pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and other sage advice, coupled with their predilection for private land ownership and the choice to sell that land ( Inc any prior state owned utility’s on that land) cheaply to your overseas mates , they are the paragon of virtuous brotherly love !

They just love to spread their love around, that’s all. It may take some ‘personal sacrifices’ in waiting for that love to be returned 300 years from now, – but hey ! Patience is a virtue, right?

    • Good looking ? No, he’s looking bloated around the face – perhaps a fluid retention problem – and that shiny cheek skin could suggest someone having cosmetic laser treatment to iron out wrinkles – maybe feeling tight – Nick Smith looks better face-wise.

Pale white is a simple statement of fact -although I’d be more inclined to say that he’s pasty-looking – he was never a good looking man – and too short – a few inches more could have changed the course of history.

    • Can always guarantee a reply from John Key junior. Christ John , you two should get a room.
But then, you and he are one in the same . You need to learn the term rasict or stop posting such ridiculous statements. STFU John.

  3. …’ In short, shut the fuck up John.

    L00L !, Go Martyn!,… well said !

  4. For whom Martyn? For the many many people who want to come home but can’t get in. Not for the 400 odd attendees to an expo in Dubai (govt officials in other words) for whom MIQ has reserved rooms on return.

  5. Key resurfacing in the face of National disintegrating. Petty utterances from a has been.

Given this government’s good efforts in keeping NZ relatively safe during this time of Covid-19, I’d like to know how National could improve on the situation! Doubt it could somehow.

    • Yes mary_a, so true. To me from it would appear that National don’t want to be in power; has it actually dawned on them that they do not have the talent to have been as successful as the Goverment has been. From their comments along the way we would now be in a real mess had they had the reigns of power; and as for ACT declaring we must open the borders regardless next year words fail me!

  6. reminds me of the Kim Dot Com rally – FJK – but he does have a point about the booking system – some woeful stories out there of separated families.

    • Yes the booking system sounds a totally unfair nightmare and needs to be regulated rather than the lucky dip if you have the resources it currently is. And yes and stfu John Key, what a complete dick.

  7. I hear on the News (because I no longer bother to listen to Hoskings National Party Political Broadcast) that Key is saying we should allow people to self isolate at home with ankle bracelets.
Does Key propose we should all wear bracelets, because unless we do, how does he plan on stopping people visiting those self isolating?
This is a good example of ‘it’s better to be thought a fool than….. ‘ – did Hoskings challenge him on this suggestion? Just asking!

    • Now it seems we need to ensure the Government does not get pressured into this nonsense – the trust model simply will not stop self-isolating bracelet wearing returnees from having/getting ‘visitors’. We have invested too much to get slack now.

  8. I often get John Key and Mike Hosking confused. And I also get the feeling John Key writes the articles for the tabloid NZ herald and Hosking applies his(Hosking’s) name to the articles.

Both have the attitude of “I know everything and have an answer for EVERYTHING”.

It’s that behavioural problem that makes National the laughing stock of the political spectrum.

Key was and still is a major failure in regards to New Zealanders. He let us ALL down and he failed us when he failed to LISTEN to New Zealanders time and again. An excellent example is the debacle and a huge waste of NZ taxpayers money on a flag referendum no-one but John Key wanted. But I to this day feel that Key had a cavalier attitude of spending other peoples’ money to massage his ego.

All in all the NZ National Party failed to deliver to ordinary low income New Zealanders. Instead it treated most NZers with hatred and contempt. It doesn’t like people who question them or don’t have money to ‘donate’ to National in returns for favours given if in government.

Key just wants to feel important again and hence him hunting out the media in his attention grabbing cavalier attitude.

I now call him Sir Lies-alot.
