Hundreds tell new wrongful conviction body that they’re innocent
The Criminal Cases Review Commission was established a year ago to investigate claims of wrongful conviction. But, as Mike White discovers, it has received nearly double the number of cases it expected, and is struggling to keep up with demand.
Based on overseas examples, the CCRC estimated it would receive about 125 applications a year from people saying they were wrongfully convicted, and had exhausted all their appeals in the courts.
The previous system for examining these cases, which the CCRC was replacing, was the royal prerogative of mercy. It was overseen by the Justice Ministry and had received 172 applications in the 25 years from 1995-2020. In the last two years of its operation, it received just two applications.
When the CCRC opened its doors, it received 25 applications in the first two weeks, and 61 in its first two months. Within eight months, it had received more applications than the royal prerogative of mercy system did in a quarter of a century.
And by the end of June 2021, a year into its operation, it had received 220 applications, far beyond anyone’s predictions.
Whether it’s pre-censoring a movie none of them had seen, to manufacturing a threat from Rachel Stewart to get the Police to harass her, to ghoulishly gloating who the woke will lynch the moment they gain hate speech powers to the Greens gerrymandering the sexual assault laws to ensure anyone accused of sexual assault is found guilty, the ‘progressives’ sure love to punish.
The thing that has genuinely surprised me over the last few months is the bloodlust from so many of my comrades on the Left to throw people in prison for the most spurious of reasons – I can’t tell the difference between half of you and the Sensible Sentencing Lynch mob!
When due process is considered heteronormative white cis male privilege and the evidential threshold is whatever someone says on social media, woke justice prefers that 9 innocent men go to prison rather than let one guilty man walk free because you know, ‘patriarchy’.
That so many prisoners are desperately grasping for this Criminal Cases Review Commission should be a warning sign to the woke that their social media mob lynchings, thirst for hate speech purges and gerrymandering law to ensure guilt might in fact be creating a maelstrom of the very injustice they claim to be championing.
I say should be a warning sign to the woke but we can all see by the spittle of anticipation dripping from their fangs that their lust for Hate Speech laws is driven not by justice but revenge.
Drop a drip of power onto your average Middle Class Identity Politics Spinoff/Stuff subscriber and they mutate into a thousand Tiny Hitler’s, a phalanx of little sisters whose eyes gleam with the same Dogma Cult of Mao’s Cultural Revolution.
I fear the innocent languishing in prison are about to be joined by a lot more thanks to woke justice.

The core Woke activists:
(1) are disproportionately the Children of the Establishment and/or currently pursuing highly paid Professional careers. Despite so frequently playing the role of the marginalised & the oppressed, they (or their wider family/forebears) are comfortable wielding power … with all the arrogance that often follows.
(2) disproportionately exhibit the Dark Triad Personality traits … Machiavellianism, Psychopathy, Narcissism (esp very high Entitlement), … these are people often of fairly average intelligence who suffer marked personality disorders (the way they’ve made everyone tiptoe on eggshells on various Left-leaning blogs over recent years should’ve been a massive giveaway).
(3) are members of a religious-like ideological Cult with extreme Year Zero tendencies on Cultural matters … but little if any concern for socio-economic equality (despite occasionally paying lip-service when forced).
Together, this mix helps explain the authoritarianism, the contempt for democratic norms, the callousness (increasingly turning into outright hostility) towards a whole swathe of the working class, the demanding, controlling tendencies … the patent lack of integrity, honesty, ethics, understanding of Right & Wrong [the Golden Rule] … (despite aggressively advertising their supposed “uniquely refined moral sensibilities” on a regular basis).
That’s a decent summary swordfish.
One wonders if there is a good political counter to the woke religion short of trump style craziness that is just as unhealthy.
With Labour shortages in just about everything, now might be a good time to sack the entire woke public service, plenty of real jobs in fruit picking, hospitality and dairy farming for them to tackle.
Might open some eyes on the real world.
Start with the clergy at the human rights commission who give public money to drug dealers and actively lobby against our basic human right to free speech.
‘Woke” Is such a lazy, dead beat term. I hate lazy, dead beat terms generally which is why I prefer the best attempts to use the wonderfully ever evolving English language peppered with fuck words to convey meanings and emotions. In my case, I may not always be right but I’m not always wrong either.
Human, humans know it’s abhorrent to essentially penalise people for being different which is hilarious because we’re all different from each other and yet, in a quantum theory way, we’re also all the same.
Banning something, anything, makes it precious and it’s that preciousness that makes it valuable and as we all know, anything of value can be used to manipulate and exploit others.
And what better way, in these erudite and well educated days, to manipulate and exploit others than by using immutable and inarguable language to confuse and derail us while we want to know why we get paid shit money and struggle to survive in times of great abundance?
That’s why ACT and the natzo’s are all over the word ‘woke’ like flies on turds.
[They’re] using the very same words, in the case ‘woke’ to promote themselves as champions of justice against the very word that could be used to condemn them. And if you think ACT and the natzo’s are being clever? They’re not. They’re merely being cunning. And any rat can be cunning. ( No disrespect to actual rats.)
How can anyone expect justice within a capitalist democracy when money can cure all ill’s. Where the poor get life sentences to turn good coin for an army of cops, lawyers and the private prison industry while the rich get a super yacht and a tax deductible mansion in Panama.

Being familiar with the overwhelming levels of corruption in our Judicial system( no checks and balances on Judges, The dodgy Evidence Act, the filth who work for Crown Law etc)I am very surprised there are not many more applications to the CCRC.

So, drug dealing gangs are now a fully vertically integrated business from raw materials mfg retail supply & rehab. Could only be a Labour/Green Govt captured by taxpayer charity paid academics that would think that this made sense in any real world.
And if they give 4 million to the local DHB and said.. Go help the local mob to get off p what do you think would be achieved? Ill tell you. 15 people with no understanding of the issues these guy have will pay themselves $150,000 – $200,000 a year for meetings and reports and maybe the odd Hui (fully catered of course) that will exclude anyone with real world experience and not one (target demographic) person will be helped. It’s not a perfect solution but it might even get a few of them off drugs.. who know? .. but i do know that the old system doesn’t work and won’t help anyone.
