TV3 Poll – Labour smash National – race baiting doesn’t work

The latest TV3 Poll is out.

Labour – 52.7%

National – 27%

Green -7.1%

ACT – 6.9%

Māori Party – 1.2%

TV3’s last pre-election poll was woefully wrong.
Underpolled Labour by 4.2 points
Overpolled National 5.5 points
Underpolled Green by 1.6 points

So a poll with a right bias says Labour is doing way better than anyone hoped.

I’ve been arguing that this Māori separatist stuff just won’t work and the majority of voters said they didn’t think Labour was being separatist and that National was being divisive.

The personal popularity shows it’s just a matter of time before Judith is removed.

More Kiwis believe in Aliens than in Judith Collins.

Māori race baiting doesn’t have the political pulling power it used to. The next generation are not frightened of Māori culture. They know the injustice of the past and see Māori autonomy as a solution, not a threat.

This segregation shit is popular amongst men who call the PM ‘Cindy’, but National already have all that vote!

Judith has gone down a rabbit hole chasing the ghost of Don Brash’s Orewa Speech. It will end her leadership.

  1. Who cares, it’s not as if Labour is doing anything meaningful with their support. National supporters won’t be upset with this result, especially when we have a National lite government in power.

      • National arent in power, your lot are and are they improving things, ending neoliberalism or doing anything slightly meaningful? Nope.

        • @mb.
” National aren’t in power, you lot are…”
[It’s] taken national nearly 100 years to drag a glorious country down into the gutter. National was formed from an unholy alliance of banksters and money lenders who then went on to infect Labour with a thatcher virus, injected into it by roger douglas. Once inside Labour he and his cronies set about to turn our bureaucracy against us to undermine and sabotage any and all attempts to purge Labour of the natzos disguised as a greedy disaster that seemed like a good idea at the time when really, neoliberalism was merely a scam.
That shit’s going to take more than a term and a half to fix so we must be patient and ever vigilant.
And what, you might ask, should we be ever vigilant for?
When our democratically elected government starts talking about putting money before people. It really is that simple.
The shit the natzo’s are wading knee deep through at the moment is entirely of their own greedy making.

  2. Judith down 12.8 percent. Christ, that is bad. Did someone say Rob Muldoon was polling higher? Probably.

    ACT down. Good.

But what is Newstalk ZB going to do? Or the Hosk? It’ll be a hell fire and brimstone sermon tomorrow. If he doesn’t call sick!

Or Heather? Nearly every weekend opinion piece she types has been predicting pestilence and disease because of Labour. Is no one listening?

What are commenters to the Herald going to do? They’ve been particularly feral as of late whilst predicting the four horsemen of the apocalypse for sometime thanks to Cindy.

I hope and I pray Labours progressive policy release continues.

  3. Nothing much to see really, Nats and Labour both up slightly.
I don’t think it’s an argument for or against Maori sovereignty.
Collins is not everyone’s cup of tea and was/will never be capable of uniting people behind her.

  4. “The personal popularity shows it’s just a matter of time before Judith is removed”.. That number is strikingly convenient considering how many kites have been hoist regarding John’s boy Luxon, and his Leadership credentials” lately… Word to the wise.. It’s past time we started taking an intense look at what’s going on in Australian federal politics right now.. Luxon represents the Kiwi branch of what is being tortuously reshaped into a christian theocratic “democracy” over there..
My personal experience of his work only extends to the third class cattle transport that Air NZ brought me back in just before the first lockdown. The positive there of course is that I have the pleasure of looking forward to better treatment… on every/any other airline…
He’s already plagiarized Scott Morrisons speeches regarding his beliefs, more than once.. He’s a good organiser it seems, and he has the backing of Keys people.. This bloke could turn out to be worse than Key. After watching the horror unfold In Australia since Abbott did his lycra pimpernel gig, right through to the utterly rotten festering clusterfuck that everything Morrison touches turns into.. All the while there are pop up churches in all the city centers, mopping up the homeless, psyche patients, junkies, unemployed..and making a fortune in the process.. the thought that the same scenario playing out here sends a shudder up my spine…

  5. ” Labour – 52.7%

    National – 27%

    Green -7.1%

    ACT – 6.9%

    Māori Party – 1.2% ”

Bomber i choose none of the above and since i jumped off the neo liberal band wagon and its MSM propaganda shows i feel liberated and pity the people who are still captured by the capitalist bullshit that they are fed every day and i really don’t care who out polls who it is just the same result regardless of who is in office.
This recent race baiting that you highlight is a distraction to the structural problems we are having to face on a daily basis and those problems do not discriminate whether you are brown , white of sparkling pink.
The current neo liberal economy and its masters are the real enemy.

    • So true, mosa
Race baiting feeds off ego and navel gazing. Instead of bigger picture, what is happening and what swifties are being pulled.
Just a distraction as kiwis are being sucked dry and endangered by high housing, rents and wage freezes, while govt reduces debt instead of investing in people. Labour leaders dribble on about wellbeing and all manner of newspeak double-talk to fool the masses. Alot deserve everything that’s coming for being shallow low-information and falling this Cult of personality

  6. People will always translate poll results to suit themselves and their bias / agenda.

What I see is Labour holding their own. Is that deserved? In some areas, Labour is going well but in other areas, they are the Keystone Cops. Personally, I’m less of a Jacinda fan now than I was a year ago but she is still lightyears ahead of the rest.

National are akin to an irrelevant nauseating mosquito. Their leader is totally untrustworthy, divisive and about 30 years out of date. National are incredibly negative and the epitome of hypocrisy. Any and every attempt to sell themselves as people who give a flying shit about Kiwis is best treated with the contempt it deserves. We all know it’s just a matter of time before Luxon takes over as the latrine Rodent Party leader. It won’t make a blind bit of difference as National are dead in the water exactly where they deserve to be.

The only relevant question that comes to my mind about this poll result is if it will be enough for Luxon and the other zeros to front Chucky and inform her that he has the numbers. When that happens, Chucky will call for a By-election in Papakura. That will be her final revenge and fuck you powerplay to everyone, especially those who sent her packing. Take that to the bank. You all know I’m never wrong.

    • I remember a Dylan fan way back when saying he was less a fan when Bob plugged in…….Jacinda is tapping the wah wah pedal at the moment, lookout when she hits the overdrive with reverb and really electrifies the multitudes……….

  7. Although it is a personal disaster for Collins, the Newshub / Reid Research poll isn’t entirely good news for Labour either. Asked if Labour was being “separatist”, a slim majority – 43.6 per cent – said “no”, while 38.7 per cent said “yes”. Eighteen per cent don’t know.
Nearly 40 per cent believing Labour has a separatist agenda is not trivial.
Given that major news media (including Stuff and the Herald in editorials) have dismissed He Puapua as inconsequential, Labour’s strategists will have to hope that gap doesn’t close.

    • Perhaps, but that doesnt take into account that this poll is notoriously right wing. If Labour are winning in a poll with such a huge bias to the right, they can sleep easy

      • Polls have been notoriously left wing over the developed world in the last 5 years. That said I don’t doubt this poll. Sure it has me surprised however i think we can still put a lot of this down to the covid, housing inflation bubble we are presently in. This is still sticky although I thought the stick would start to weaken by now. Obviously not.

A lot can change if the economy goes south. The supply and inflation import game is barely out of first gear.

        Enjoy Bertie

  8. Very glad I’ve been proved wrong. Though maybe she used the wrong media or tone.

Still think there’s room in NZ for proto-fascism for those discomfited by modern changes.

    • Nah man you’re barking up the wrong tree. Out & out far right will never have the numbers to get power in NZ. Not enough right whites to matter here. The Fascists only hope is akin to current situation where National rump is dominated by christian rightists who had kind of given up on pushing a separate CHP/CD/CC/ Future/Destiny-Vision wheelbarrow & just entryismed the Nats. In past Nats tried to make a Right-Green ally, a Religious-Right ally, a Maori-Right ally …failures all!
But a coalition of these neo-theo Nats & ACTors will not be stable given social libertarianism within ACT plus combined they are only at 36% currently. They need 15% more of voters to buy into Far Right Economics and Right-Christian Social ideology. I don’t see those numbers out there. Every single attempt at fronting up an out & out right party over there years has been dead on arrival …To be fair same is true for attempts at out & out leftist parties too. NZ likes the middle.

  10. TDB regular Mr Trotter may need to turn his LP over-that long track on side 1 entitled “White Backlash” has been thrashed enough…

  11. David Farrar’s comment is really funny:
“Note it is usual for the Opposition Leader to drop after an election, compared to during the election campaign.”
