Our current government needs to heed Professor Michael Bakers advice and that is to not let any more people come in once more MIQ spots become available with Aussies not needing MIQ.
Our health system is under huge pressure it is no good NZers having faster access to screening when the treatment needed after having been screened cannot be delivered in a timely manner it defeats the purpose of having prompt screening.
Also Maori and PI are being told, quote “due to Covid there are delays up to 8 months to see a clinician”. This is not good enough and not fair on those already missing out just so more people can come back or into our country many testing positive on the first tests. This means the pre tests process is not working far better to reduce risks by reducing the numbers and what about them being pretested earlier and providing the evidence to say this has been done. We need to see a breakdown on the countries with the highest risk and capped numbers from these countries so we can manage these risks. It is not fair that the poor in this country are impacted more by people entering our country with this virus. And it doesn’t matter what or who they are or what they bring as they are all risks.
Last weekend in a small quiet coastal town some oldies were having a party up on the hill, or at least that’s where it sounded like it was coming from down on the beach. They’d hired a live band and the play list covered the usual pop hits of the late fifties through to about the late seventies: Chuck Berry, Elvis, Uriah Heap, Roy Orbison. It was a truly courageous performance. You’d have heard it across the water for sure. Absent from the proceeding were songs with a spirit I would’ve expected to find in that district.
