Oh my God, how disgustingly douchebag is this?

Man hospitalised in Auckland after The Safety Warehouse’s ‘$100k cash drop’ turns violent and ‘fake money’ handed out

A man was taken to hospital after an angry crowd smashed a car window when fake money was handed out in an advertised $100,000 “cash drop” that turned sour.

More than 1000 people had gathered in Auckland’s Aotea Square at midday yesterday after the Safety Warehouse advertised on social media that it planned to drop $100,000 from the sky to thank New Zealanders for their support during the Covid-19 pandemic.

There are so many gross things about this.

Firstly it was a lie, desperate people from all over the North Island turned up and it wasn’t $100 000 cash, it was mostly vouchers for safety products which is ironic, because the event wasn’t safe.

To exploit people’s desperation and poverty with a fake $100k cash drop to ‘thank NZ’ for buying safety products at an event that wasn’t safe is just such a douchebag thing to do and the dickhead who is speaking for the Company should be fired for their douchebag ways as well.

I’ve never heard of the company, and I’d never do business with them for this kind of scumbaggery.

  1. Reminds me of that episode of WKRP from the 1970s where the radio station decided to drop a heap of turkeys from a helicopter onto a shopping mall carpark as a publicity stunt. But that was a piece of comedic fiction and inspired the line “As God is my witness I swear I thought turkeys could fly”.

Goodness knows what this particular class act was intended to achieve.

  2. This is the sort of thing I would expect from the beneficiaries of the Key government.. Treat the peasants like shit, and they’ll come back for more, as long as they stay hungry… Josef Stalin ably demonstrated the tory techniques, when he plucked a live chicken in front of members of his politburo, and then threw some grain onto the floor at his feet. The distressed and in bleeding chicken then hobbled over to the grain to eat… Thus was demonstrated how even after such abuse, any creature will follow you as long as you are the one with what they need… This just shows how low NZ has fallen away from the egalitarian ethos that the first Labour government bequeathed us.. It’s all just another fairy tale now, and we let the arseholes do it…

  3. it wasnt safe because of the people who attended, not the company..dont blame the company because feral people stomped over people for a $5 note lmfao

    • And the poor sod who drove up to all the way to Auckland from Palmerston North in the hope of making some quick cash.

      Is Palmerston North that depressed?

      • Apparently he is a father with a seriously ill child whose life-saving health procedures are nowhere near covered by the Public Health Service deliberately run down under the National Govt.

It’s a massive load for any parent to cope with. Rather wonderfully, a Pacifica chappie has quickly offered to cover all the costs involved with treating this child, so that, at least, is one less worry for the parents. There are some really nice folk out there.

  4. I’m sorry, but just because you showed up doesn’t make you entitled anything.

We have to stop this terrible entitlement mentality we are breeding.

Doesn’t matter how far you drove, you made that choice, your rights are no greater than someone who lived or worked next door, or even those that weren’t even aware of the promotion and just happened to be in the area.

  5. Vn- Better if we stopped the tacky marketing ploys, and explained to the flying machine boys that printing imitation bank notes and showering them on the poor and needy is pretty whacko sort of territory.

We have to stop the vulgar entitled mentality of those out to separate others from their monies. They engineered a dance macabre, and that’s what they got. Not very smart.
