The media are still avoiding calling the event what it actually is, a climate change event. They’re still using the “one in 200+ year event” tag line, which is now all too common.
Why is it so difficult for them to get real and tell it as it is? It is only when they start doing that, that adequate preparations can more easily be made for other places. Why are they treating this increasingly familiar experience, of climate change effects causing major damage, as if each one is some sort of rare exception.
These are no longer rare events. They are our new normal. And we know that, even as the media continue to misrepresent it.
