What a remarkable surprise, Judith Collins won’t pull her MPs into line over false posts on social media…

Election 2020: Judith Collins refuses to condemn false quote posted by her MPs

National leader Judith Collins refused to criticise two of her MPs for circulating a fake quote from Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Friday.

Collins said she didn’t think the MPs should take down their posts as they were “genuinely reflecting what they believe.”

Nationals MPs Matt King and Harete Hipango have both reposted a meme that quotes Ardern as saying “Dairy farming is a world of the past”.

Ardern did not say or imply this. In the TVNZ debate on Tuesday night she said a view of farming as being opposed to sustainability, with regulations imposing a huge burden, was “a view of the world that has passed”. Several other National MPs took this quote out of context on social media, but only Hipango and King posted an explicitly false version of it.

…what kind of bullshit defence is that?

I won’t make my MPs take down a lie because they believe the lie?

They are purposely misrepresenting what Jacinda said, they’ve been caught our purposely misrepresenting what Jacinda said and Judith will allow it to stand because they believe it?

I mean if we are just making ethical decisions based on what we ‘believe’, I believe people who don’t smoke cannabis are not to be trusted and should be forced from these shores by bayonet.

I mean while we are making wish lists here.

Purposely disseminating misleading half truths on social media is for Young Nat members and people who refer to the PM as ‘Cindy’ on Twitter, Purposely disseminating misleading half truths on social media is not something actual MPs should be stooping to.

National have no qualms in doing whatever it takes to win power, and that’s something everyone else should recoil from, not reward with our vote.

Judith wears a mask to protect the virus from her!

The problem for National is that Judith can’t help but be malicious, even after her perceived win she had to rub it in the PMs face with all the grace of an Australian.

When the Fox is half way across the river and the Scorpion starts stinging it in the face and the Fox is gasping, ‘but why, you’ll drown us both’ and the Scorpion says, ‘soz, it’s my nature’, we are almost up to that moment with National being the Fox and Judith the Scorpion.

Judith can’t help but be malicious and the voters have seen that when she effortlessly executed Iain Lees-Galloway for an affair, you can’t unsee that kind of casual political violence.

For white males who get VERY angry whenever Neve is mentioned, Judith is their kind of Gal, for everyone else she is toxic and frightening.

By the end of this campaign, National will be lucky to have 25%.

  1. This is the dirty politics brigade, and they won’t stop. Today’s Spectator features another Ardern attack from Nelson’s indefatigable old Amy Brooke. I was sent a pre-publication copy and noted from that that, in regard to the PM, quote, “ Few would doubt her preference with regard to legalising cannabis.” From this I deduce that Brooke thinks that she and most New Zealanders, consider Ardern a baddie on this issue, which Brooke links to Swedish and Colorado experiences I didn’t bother reading.

Ardern is also slammed for supporting the “attendant horrors of euthanasia”, whatever that means. I only know of horrors of dying naturally, where I was the attendant, more than once. The innuendo here is not enough with which to smear the PM, in the absence of concrete facts, but that has not stopped Agnes-Mary Amy Brooke from landing another punch.

Brooke’s allegation re Ardern and the mechanics of abortion is too sickening and vile for me to record. I think it is a rumour previously circulated about PM Ardern, and make no further comment but to say that the use of brutal emotive language, is done for a purpose, and the facts themselves may be misleading, and intended to demonise.

I got the impression that Brooke is attributing the scourge of amphetamine to Ardern too, and think that only a complete simpleton would follow her there.

I don’t follow this person, and usually hear of her from others, but did read her castigating Ardern for teddy bears in windows, but am unaware of any concern for children in car boots and sheds, but living in the countryside with her doctor husband, Brooke may not know of about the grim reality of other people’s lives.

I cannot remember what else she says – a dear friend – one of the wonderful Ngaphui Rankins – has died, and the true kindness of which we sometimes dream, has gone with her, and therein lies my memory.

    Sometimes elsewhere.

  2. Background info: Chapter Four

Another untruth is being perpetuated today on Newshub in an article asking if Key could “save” the Nats from Jacinda.

Here is the misrep: “Sir John infamously made Collins resign during the 2014 election campaign while an investigation was carried out into alleged conflicts of interest. She was later reinstated to her ministerial roles after being cleared of any wrongdoing.”

[“Infamously”? Inappropriate use of that word is noted. ]
The misrepresentation is that Ms Collins was “cleared of any wrongdoing.” Nicky Hager clarifies this here: TDB 15 July 2020 Nicky Hager, Collins and the Book The only thing she was cleared of concerned an email that was not in the book!

  3. Another disgusting action that Ms Collins failed to repudiate was the forwarding of the social media meme that linked Jacinda to pornography, by her husband. Ms Collins’ refused to denounce it, and so perpetuated the underlying repulsive false concept.

  4. National are desperate to get any traction against Ardern using whatever means possible including bare-faced lies and total misrepresentations. They are being led through the sewer by a reprehensible individual who takes up an entire chapter of the very telling book “DIRTY POLITICS”.

Collins has more in common with Cameron Slater than she does with the people of NZ in 2020.

Both will have the same fate.

  5. This shows that Collins condons bullshit and false information(aka lies)from her MPs. This is also proof that she will have no hesitation in lying to the NZ voters when it suits her scheming and goals.
How can NZers trust this woman who shows no remorse or ability to control HER MPs. If or when(again)a National MP is caught out bullying even workers in their respective offices will she tell them off or just merely turn a blind eye? Because I think she would do the latter rather than the former

  6. Dirty politics, misinformation and political ugliness = Judith Collins. Its burned into her ageing DNA.

She cant pull up her fellow Nat’s when she is worse and I will safely assume, encourages it.
