Oh boo hoo!

Security association head says they’ve become ‘scapegoat’ to MIQ issues as Govt announces NZDF personnel boost

The head of the security association says the Government is using private contractors as “a bit of a scapegoat” when it comes to issues surrounding managed isolation and quarantine facilities.

Mr Morrison said about 500 to 600 people could be out of work within the next three to six weeks as a result.

“We’re very disappointed and upset by the lack of communication … around this,” he said.

“As of yesterday we were informed or advised that it would not proceed. So, to hear that announcement today was very disappointing for us.”

Your thug gorillas kept fucking up…

…no one gives two shits about you losing your contract because the contract is supposed to keep us safe from the Virus and your private security guards kept getting caught doing deplorably incompetent shit!

Every single NZer will feel far happier knowing well trained Defence Staff are now keeping us safe, not gorilla thugs who can’t get into the Police force and don’t have the interpersonal skills to be a parking warden.

Hey, you are more than welcome to do concerts and sports events and basic public gatherings, but let’s take the security of a pandemic outbreak throughout our entire country out of your hands and pop it into a force we can directly control and have accountability from.

Blah blah blah, tell your story walking, no one cares.

  1. Security guards also seem more like a ‘placeholder’ role these days. Have a look at them at supermarkets and retail, they look like they would be the ones beaten up and appear to have little training or skills for the role.

A couple of months ago, someone walked out of a supermarket without paying, the attendant just asked them to stop, (they didn’t and strolled out) and the security guard did nothing… weird… the supermarket staff didn’t seem to care and maybe the reason is that they only want to employ staff at $18 p/h and so employ staff who increasingly have little training and can’t actually keep anyone safe or stop theft ….

Speaking of which, the quality of retail experience seems lacking.

This woman was spied on in the changing rooms at K Mart and the staff did nothing, https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2020/08/i-was-filmed-in-a-kmart-changing-cubicle.html apparently filming under the changing room doors are not considered something to investigate at K Mart…. took a year to get the offender convicted by police and only because the lady kept going (most people would find it too emotionally painful to bring it to justice) … this type of behaviour is becoming common in NZ and escalates… I guess that is why sexual crime is under represented in prosecutions and fewer alleged rapists are being prosecuted now than 20 years ago, a Marsden-funded study has found aka alleged rapists now less likely to be taken to court than they were in 1997. https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/112090554/fewer-rape-prosecutions-show-the-law-is-failing-victims-researchers

There also seems to be an increase of sexual spying in NZ…..

  2. 100%

Poor bastards falling asleep on the job. What a joke.

As for the security guard also known as T.T “total tosser” putting up online a list of quarantine patients, look no further as to why the Government had to send your arse packing. We can’t have that sort of shite. It destroys confidence in your industry that has done extremely well recently out of the long suffering taxpayer. What a shame some may lose their job. At least they will have time to catch up on their sleep and only shag their partners instead of females in quarantine. The security industry turned the gig into an obscene rort and only have themselves to blame.

    • Yes that’s right.
Forty years as a musician and I’ve met emailwonderful security…and also knuckledraggers. This is a case of a few letting down the many. Sad for the good men and women who will lose because of slackarses.

  3. Well well! so where did he get his 600 staff from anyway. I doubt if he had this many workers on his books until the Covid outbreak, he would have had to quickly recruit. And looking at some of his workers do they have the security certificates they are required to have and have they all been thoroughly vetted? And how do you do vetting checks on people that come from countries that have corrupt and fraudulent practises. The Covid epidemic has created work and more business for security firms. So what do they do when the work has dried up. Will this company care and look after their workers when they are no longer required? Somehow I doubt it cause its all about the money. One of his workers may have taken a bribe with many being paid the minimum wage for such an important job. Little wonder that person choose to release all that confidential information. Now we have the owner or boss crying wolf as if he really cares about the 600 workers, more like he cares about his big fat contract being torn up.

  5. This is designed so there will be someone to blame when invariably the next fuck up occurs. It will be sold as a sliver bullet in design however in reality will resemble more of a blunt butter knife. Prey tell me – what additional powers will defense staff have over Paul Blart Mall Cop? Will they be able to stop escapees? The answers will shock you.

Poor ol’ Diggers – thought he would be on the same path as Jerry M – unfortunately just another hapless government official to through under the bus. A trojan for the woke altar.

    • Fuck sake Frank, so far the world has not ended. This breathless hype may be as per the script but please don’t let go of reality. Less than a hundred infections nearly two weeks into this is pretty damned good. And there WILL be more outbreaks no matter how good the management. But it can be avoided if we shut the borders totally, including freight. But that’s not going to happen, ever.

And to assist your lack of analytical thinking about who will stop escapees, why the fuck do you think police are there?

The sky is not falling in Chicken Little, as much as you pray it will.

If you think National, who were whining about closed borders 5 minutes ago, would be any better, think again. That clusterfuck of a party who can’t stop knifing each other in the back couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery!

      • Hear hear XRay, you saw right through to the bones of Tank’s issue.

The Nats would run Covid like they run everything, by dirty politics, deflection and obfuscating clusterfuckwittery.

Dirty Politics = Find dirt on someone, or make it up and email it.
Dirty Politics = If you can’t find dirt, make shit up, like Trumpo’s Fake News
Dirty Politics = Find someone to blame and fire them.
Dirty Politics = The ends (eyebrows) justify the means (memes)
Dirty Politics = We Nats are born-to-rule, so we do it our way and blame the previous schmucks (like we did after the GFC dropping Kiwisaver from 4% to 2% and halving Tax break from $1080 to $521.43 pw)

Dirty Politics, the gift that keeps on giving, like tattooed eyebrows

Which reminds me, Judeath Collins on the News tonight – “suburb by suburb lockdown, street by street [house by house] if we have to”.

If you believe this shit, you are off your nut.

XRay rightly said “Nats couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery!”

I remember walking into a men’s toilet instead of the ladies, I say, Nats couldn’t run a piss up at a urinal.

    • The head of the security association using the ACT and National party moto of personal responsibility exclaimed they have been made a scapegoat and yet not once mentioned their personal responsibility in this mess. And Xray I believe analytical thinking should be best left to us adults.

      • Hi Bertie me ol’ matey

At least Chippie acknowledged the fuck ups – for that he gets credit.

I love how you lot have moved from a zero tolerance to ‘mistakes will happen’ mantra. It really depends whether the mistakes are self inflicted and this week Labour fired a bazooka at their legs.

Whether this permeates with the selfish middle who knows – this will be a test on how ‘Sticky’ their move to Labour really is. The next set of polling will be fascinating.

        • Frankie me boy.

          You fall into this category…

“Cabinet’s review comes as one of the big guns called in to review and fix the border patrol response, Sir Brian Roche, said he felt New Zealanders may have lost a sense of perspective on how well the country had responded to Covid over the past months.

“We are the envy of the world. We seem to want to beat ourselves up for every infringement, and as a citizen I find that surprising,” Roche told Newstalk ZB’s Mike Hosking.”

“WE ARE THE ENVY OF THE WORLD”
have no doubt a small percentage will move back to National from ACT, both selfish parties.

You do knwo Frankie that politicians don’t admit guilt, or are you truly that naive?

Even yesterday Hamish Walker in the Herald stated he received “bad advice”, no admission of guilt or apology.
Collins herself didn’t admit guilt for using her position in Government to advance her husbands business, she stated also that Key threw her under the bus with the “dirty politics” affair. No apology. Big Brownlie never admitted guilt for barging through Christchurch airport. Or do those “mistakes” on demand outrage if it’s Labour?
You see Frankie my dear, you have lost a sense of perspective on how well the country had responded to Covid over the past months. Your hatred for Labour and left supporters blurs your logic. However when the borders do open, you will have a choice of where you’d like to live, my sound judgement tells me that it will be here, because our Government isn’t quite as bad as you make it out to be.

        • Frankee. Can you stay on topic, what about the security guards fuck ups, is that the Governments fault for not having government staff on site overseeing security guards falling asleep, breaching protocol?

  6. Another private company failure to add to the last. Scrap private business contracts, PPP. Bring back state control of our “essential services”

  7. Security industry is THE last word in exploitation. And i feel for some of the poor bastards, desperate for a job who have to work in that game.

As the saying goes, pay peanuts, get monkeys, and this is most applicable to the security industry.

    The government are learning.

      • This is one huge Rubiks cube. Governments plan and implement over months and years not days and weeks.

Trying to weld together medical, quarantine, security, enforcement, people’s rights, the economy and law into this equation that it’s evolving and shifting in real time is massive. But clearly it’s dead simple to the arm chair experts.

      • Remedial learning would have assisted Woodhouse ten fold.
Interestingly National have already outlined an election promise that there will be no “extra” funding in health as part of the economic recovery. Think about that for a moment? Immediately that tells us money first, people second. Now ask yourself ,why during Nationals “rockstar economy” didn’t they didn’t put “extra” into health when they had the money?
As a result we have seen hospital infrastructure implode, the need for a mental health inquiry. National had the money but continued to underfund.
And now National have the audacity to blame the government for a poor response to Covid-19.
Covid-19 is a new virus, would you expect any government to not learn as they go?

    • Agree – don’t heap blame on people who have had to take those jobs. Some spent their own money on First Aid certs, Security training, then had to buy their own uniforms only to work for little pay, casual conditions of 2-3 days a week if lucky and insufficient training. They’re also not all young, thugs, inatttentive or unresponsive to problems – this smacks of some generic “dolebludger” mentality. By all means blame the companies but not every security worker.

  8. Roger Douglas’ myth of the private sector always being more efficient than the public is cruelly exposed, yet again.
Everyone is human. Everyone makes mistakes.
But it turns out mistakes actually become MORE likely, not less, when the profit motive induces shortcut taking to make that all important buck.

    Gee. who’d have thought?
Isn’t 3 decades of living in Roger’s Neoliberal paradise just f@(k1ng dandy. All these “efficiencies” and “better service” everywhere!

  9. Or it might be because they also work a day job and are exhausted trying to make ends meet?
I got into a fight with a security guard once years ago but he let me slap him around a little because he knew my girlfriend was watching. He must have weighed 4 ton and had forearms like railway sleepers.
He was a cool guy, so I bought him a coke. Drink. Not line.

  10. In OZ it was found that some of the security guards were having sex with the quarantine victims… who is exploiting who… what a minefield of poor behaviours and regulation that is spreading Covid.

Australia: New Coronavirus Lockdown Melbourne Amid Sex, Lies, Quarantine Hotel Scandal
    https://www.forbes.com/sites/tamarathiessen/2020/07/07/australia-coronavirus-melbourne-lockdown-hotel-sex-scandal/#208f78ad131d

Also heard a rumour that a sex worker in Auckland has been giving services to the quarantine victims and evidence of payments to her during the quarantine times…

Lockdown and open borders via quarentine is a joke if that is the case.

  11. Where does management and ministerial oversight sit?

Pay the workers shit, employ whoever will take the wage and blame security guards when failures occur.

It is managements job to oversee the workers and ensure rules are complied with.
    Why do we have management?

  12. ” Security industry is THE last word in exploitation ”
No neolibralisim is the last word Jase.
Yes and the exploited forms a very long list and is a direct result of starvation wages for long hours , potential dangerous situations without the authority to act when needed and the coverage of the panic at some Auckland supermarkets supports my point.
These guards are expected to be responsible for ensuring big corporate’s like Woolworth’s Australian Countdown protect their loses and their profits by encouraging this exploitation.
A strong union would go some way to improve the conditions these people are subject to.

  13. The commentators on this site need to treat security people with more respect, than calling security guards, “remedial”, ‘Covid-shaggers’, ‘monkeys’, ‘thug gorillas’ and ‘Paul Blart Mall cop’ stereotypes

The most inaccurate one, so far, has been that the “private sector”, darling of the ACT and “user-pays” brigade, is better than government agencies.

The Trumpies, with their Trumpo the Clown leader of the free (market) world, have divided and ruled and allocated blame to the American states/governors and Trumpo’s “let-the-un-masked-mob-decide” brigade. That pathetic fallacy shifts blame and will be his downfall in 72 days.

Hillary called Trump supporters “deplorables” and that helped her lose the 2016 election. We can’t blame the victims of the the neoliberal disease, for the sins of the perp-traitors of social dismantling and selling off of state assets.

David Seymour and the ACT Party (Roger Douglas & Don Brash etc) have said ‘Let everyone come in and let them self-isolate in Air BnB’s’. Really David? People won’t even stay in a 4 **** or 5 ***** hotel, why would they voluntarily stay in a privately run spare room?

Even Judith Collins said on the News tonight said The Nats would have a suburb by suburb, or street by street lockdown system. Shaking my head and muttering loudly FFS, to my cat, goldfish and hamsters. FF-really=FF S. Sorry, I was a stammerer when younger and right-wing fuck-wittery activates my stammer-gland

The Labour Party has been doing the best they can, with the tools available and delegating their great ideas into the hands of people with less slightly less commitment to the “team of 5 million”.

No-one has done this pandemic stuff in 102 years!!

FFS, it’s the biggest world-wide pandemic since 1918-1919 Spanish flu. For the last 3.9 years Trumpo the Clown has been “building a wall” to keep out the Spanish flu. He has tried to change the narrative to “The China Flu” – but, neither have worked for him.

Let’s give the Labour Party, NZ First and the Greens some social credit for keeping NZ Covid-19 free for 102 days, it’s been 102 years since the last worldwide pandemic

And if you think that neoliberalism is a myth, you’ve only got to hear Donald Trump justifying his clusterfuckery, because “New Zealand’s Covid-19 cases have SURGED:

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/video/2020/aug/18/big-surge-donald-trump-angers-new-zealand-with-coronavirus-comments-video

FFS people, 5 new cases today, compared with 40,000 in the DSA, the Disunited States of America.

Go Jacinda, Grant and Ashley. You rock!!

We have a lay-down mazir Trumpo?

WTF have you got Trumpo the Clown?

    SORTED

    Mike drop!!

  14. I’m going to play devils advocate here

There are a number of security companies here in New Zealand who make their staff work 12 on-3 off-12 on-3 off-12 on 3 off and so forth under threat of disciplinary action if they refuse to comply and maybe lucky to have one day off every week. Placing private security guard onto these quarantine facilities with the roster forementioned it’s little wonder quarantinees escape yet the media have the audacity to think these guards are sidehustling with uber jobs

Don’t believe me? I used to work for a very well known NZ security company that used these 12-3×12-3×12-3 roster, anyone who protested got no or very low (7 or 8) hours for weeks on end. For what? Minimum wage. So glad I left this crooked corrupt security industry
