      • We should be able to open up more, if we were on top of our testing and quarantine facilities. Let’s face it, its amazing it has taken this long for a community case. Self isolation and our performance around this has been woeful at best. The Gnats will be loving it.

        • From the early reports, this family that has been infected did everything correctly. As soon as they got symptoms they got tested. That’s all we can ask of people.

        • Possibly some complacency by the public, however we still were / are far ahead of the globe precisely because we did / do effectively police the borders.

However there’s nothing very much the Natso’s can love about this because it simply’s shows how virulent this can be and the dire foolishness of even considering relaxing the borders, – as the Natso’s have clamored for and even wheeled out John Key as some sort of authoritative figure.

          He is not.

His field is personal finance ( his ) , – and not microbiology.

  1. Good to see the government is on top of this quarantining malarkey… If this is not smothered quickly, expect a backlash by the public.

    • What tossage, people can see Ardern & co were playing with a straight bat, unlike the natz who have been playing the ‘damage to business” card from the get go.

Yep, kiwis get as propagandised as much anyone else who lives in a whitefella dominated nation, but not that propagandised that they cannot comprehend how much worse covid 19 would be under a natz government designed to cater solely to the greedheads.

      • Collins has immediately blamed the government, then immediately stated she isn’t playing petty politics. The fact she made that statement says it all. If Collins had any credibility she would have at least mentioned, stay safe New Zealand, but no, it was all about politics. And if Collins said our border control was poor, well I guess she would know, given how she attempted to gain concessions at the border for Oravida.

        • FFS what is the leader of the opposition to do. It’s her job.

One things for sure if there is large scale community transmission the gloves are off and I have a feeling the middle with side with Judith over this one.

          Getting nervous there Bert?

  2. Come on Martyn – tell us again what a great job Ardern has been doing on the coronavirus front. Lets have some of that good old cheerleading for Ardern. You know you want to.

      • Bert the right wing trolls are out in force, they smell blood and like true blue predators they are circling and readying themselves to go in for the kill.

  3. This is proof that elimination was a fools errand.
The original notion of flattening the curve was the right one.

    • It could actually work in Labour’s favor. It just depends on the ‘mood-of-the-nation’. I think what you’re saying is; NZ isn’t in the mood.

Let’s see how this plays out. Labour might actually have to come out with policy if this all goes south.

    • You wish! If the election is pushed out for later in the year all we’ll hear is more Nats oppressive #BS when they run out of “facts”.

  4. So Collins is doing the politicising already and being very responsible she’s flouting the travel restrictions and off to Wellington. Pissed off her campaign appearances across borders are banned she doesn’t give a #fk about virus spread, ” Oh where’s the attention, where’s the camera’s, where’s my pearls, how will I get my eyebrows plucked now? “

  5. Victoria was in a similar position not long ago. Look at them now:

‘Another 19 people have died from Covid-19 in Victoria, taking the state’s death toll to 246, as the premier, Daniel Andrews, and other senior officials faced questions at a parliamentary inquiry into the pandemic.

Andrews told reporters on Tuesday there were now 1,185 healthcare workers with active cases of Covid-19. Andrews reported 331 new cases across the state.’

  6. Really jays do you prefer herd immunity after all its only old people and they are old and going to die soon anyway. Oh yeah! and who cares about the Maori and PI who have compromised health its all about survival of the fittest aye! what a jerk you are jays
