      • Thinking about the lives of my parents and grandparents, caught up the effects of various wars, … life’s just too damned short, too fleeting, to throw this sliver of time away on hostilities. It’s what we have – to learn from and at times to celebrate. (And, kindness with a mix of wisdom can work miracles.)

  1. The NZ Herald doesn’t rate high in quality journalism as they state when asking for subscribers, so that’s one of their statements that’s hyperbole. And I as I looked for information on Anne Perry who I am reading now, I came across this crass headline about her from a 2017 piece: Kiwi killer Anne Perry leaves Scotland hideaway for Hollywood
The piece itself was written in 2017 by Emily Hill from The Daily Mail; a puffed-up bit incorporating all the things beloved by the materialistic generation that lives on gossip and character assassination.
It incorporated material and photos concerning her Scottish house which she is selling, and the price. Its values and scenery and provenance. It included every bit about her 1950s history, such a nice savoury morsel to be rechewed frequently by gourmands. It refers to her numerous books and fame, and she is apparently shifting to Hollywood and is going to oversee more of her books on screens.

I would bet that it was the NZ Herald who noted that someone in the Thomas case came to visit here from the USA one or two decades ago. These predatory rags are as assiduous as government surveillance units in storing material and distributing their preferred material, propaganda for the degenerate mind. And you have to read it to understand what is going on, so it makes you complicit in an unpleasant way.

  2. Health alert here folks; – beware here. We need to keep father apart than the Ministry of Health Director General Andrew Bloomfield claims according to Chinese scientists.

Troubling new info on coronavirus transmission

    CORONAVIRUSe

    QUOTE;
“China’s first wave of coronavirus cases may have been four times bigger than originally reported
The coronavirus may be able to linger in the air for at least half an hour, last for days on some surfaces, and travel almost 15 feet, a new study has found.
The research by Chinese government epidemiologists challenges the advice of health authorities who have suggested staying a “safe distance” of between 3 and 6 feet apart in public spaces to avoid catching COVID-19, according to the South China Morning Post.”

    • In an enclosed space (bus) with AC circulation, and thus aerosol convection currents; Cleangreen. None of the passengers wearing masks were (detected as being) infected. A bit scary, but also somewhat nuanced.

The problem is that; 6ft/ 2metres has cut-through and clarity. 1 metre while masked, 2 metres unmasked & 5 metres when sharing recirculated air, might be more accurate, but; difficult to communicate, or enforce. Stay in your bubble, likewise has cut-through (despite bubbles being rather flexible and insubstantial). The really scary thing is that no one knows even basic facts about SARS-COV-2 yet, like; if antibodies/ the immune system provide lasting immunity.

  3. Who said … “Trust me! I’m a doctor! I’m like a doctor, I mean I’m like a doctor but I’m not a doctor. But I’ve got a lot of good ideas like a doctor, so, you could say I’m a doctor?”

    • Was it the same person who said (paraphrasing); ” My uncle was a doctor, so that pretty much makes me a doctor”?

  4. Lifting Lockdown Levels.
One of the reasons we’re seeing quite large clusters is because we’ve brought the numbers down and it’s given time for our contact tracers to actually go out and do that.
“In other countries around the world that their contact tracing has just been overwhelmed by the number of cases.”
If New Zealand’s Covid-19 new cases start getting back in to double digits in the next two weeks, that would signal a need to return to level 4 lockdown, Professor Hendy said.

  5. This is a Scishow clip that gives a good basic rundown of the current state of SARS-COV-2 testing. It’s a fair way away from my own field (even basic biochemistry lectures are a long time ago; molecular biology is a bit beyond my ability to assess for accuracy, but I trust Hank Green). I get the idea behind PCR (copy genetic material until enough in sample to be detectable), though the RT part did confuse me for a while until a friend described it in terms of a stamp/ template:

Though still hoping that the containment protocols are really strict for any rapid-testing machines! Creating lots of viral copies seems to be a great way to induce mutations. Though I am pretty sure that they are normally inactive – but then getting CRISPR involved? I only have any understanding of CAS9, so again not competent to assess that risk. It’s probably just my unlocalised dread latching onto something.

  6. Opportunistic wage subsidy cult steals $200m of taxpayer money

Reports today that 2% of the Covid wage subsidies could have been paid to those not entitled to it (Hurley, 2020). The guy in this article said he has no intention of paying back the overpayment which he called a lolly scramble. Grant Robertson, the Candy King, was reported as saying the payments for false applications are a ‘fraction’ of the entire spend. He is correct, 56 applications were deemed illegal by IRD out of 2435 in a random audit, but if you extrapolate that fraction to the $10 billion spend, $200 million is not to be sniffed at. Maybe drag these people and their names through the MSM mud like they do with WINZ fraudsters? And extend this shaming to tax defaulters in this country whose numbers exceed welfare recipients by orders of magnitude? Or is this the time for gentle, fluffy, wrap around understanding?

    • Wow!! The ignorance on it! “It’s a physically transmitted disease, it’s not bubonic plague”. How was bubonic plague not a physically transmitted disease? The; curse from god for our sinful ways, hypothesis; was disproven a long time ago.

By this grandstanding, the moran is ensuring a close audit by the IRS. Did he not read the T&C’s when he signed up for the scheme? Or is he sincerely convinced that he can do no wrong? I would hate to be a member of his “family”.

  7. Dear old Winston Peters doing the right wing thing carrying on the tradition of defunct ANZAC.
Scoop reports about the twisted criminals Oz has deported here. (However don’t forget the Mr Asia drug crims in Oz had a large input from NZ, and murdered there.) We have trouble in our small city/country diluting the poisonous people now sent to us.
Police Minister Stuart Nash says the Mongols Motorcycle Club is considered by Australian law enforcement to be one of the five worst outlaw motorcycle groups currently operating in Australia.

“The establishment of the New Zealand chapter of the Mongols MC was likely sparked by the arrival of outlaw motorcycle group members from Australia,” Mr Nash said.

“Australian-based gangs like the Rebels MC first started arriving in 2008 and soon became well-established. Since 2015, more than more than 1800 offenders have been deported from Australia. They are bringing a level of professional organisation and business skills to the meth trade which has not been seen before

“Police have been taking action against Mongols MC members. The gang is an organised crime group with global reach and networks. They are involved in serious criminal activity including the supply and distribution of illicit drugs and the use of violence including assault, blackmail and extortion.

  8. While we are thinking about ANZAC on and around the day – how about this for an idea. Take away the A for Australia and keep the NZ spirit. What about all loyal NZs who think that a good, fair country with a practically applied welfare state where everyone gets looked after and everyone contributes something to helping each other, right till they die or are incapacitated start a movement called NZAC – New Zealander Active Citizens.

It would be a ginger group to shift our moribund governments and democracy sham. We would be informed, and work at learning and presenting accurate information to the main group, from a number of parts that study their particular sector, as with government departments. The information would be shared, and the intention would be to be practical, but caring, organised entity not swayed or controlled by identity groups, but by the belief in all NZs behaving fairly and reasonably to each other. Maori would be high in the group and in the submissions for programs and desired policies put forward to government and other leaders. We would be a lobby group for real NZs not cruise-NZ travellers revelling in wealth, even though obtained by hard work, but misusing that wealth and comfort to fence out the precariats in the country.

Bring about equity, talking equality is just working with set percentages, all getting 50% more doesn’t have the same outcomes if people are unequal to begin with so equality causes disadvantage to grow!! We would aim for all to have the basics, and be able to earn more, and reward would come to those who achieved a lot more of what was wanted and enjoyed – so there would always be incentives for the ambitious.
I would like to see this start. To think separately and more widely than political parties and lobbyists for particular groups.

  9. Is this a reasonable thing to do when Councils have to face many calls on them, and we need someone close to our area to know and respond to the needs, and a few wants as well?

    https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/ldr/415169/whangarei-council-considers-6m-rate-cut-from-budget
Many Councils are reacting like this. Poor people having austerity while wealth-ier ones touring the world at their fingertips expenditure. As a way of running things this was already showing huge cracks which the supposedly clever, responsible citizens have ignored. Now by not paying the rates that are needed, they are laying further austerity onto the poor, and mildly discomforting the comfortable.

Instead of knee-jerk rate cuts, have rates holidays on application and explanation of plans to pay a proportion which will be increased as conditions for that ratepayer improve. And set up a help line for micro and small businesses so that they can come forward with aid to help the local businesspeople and economy together.
Use your brains you talking heads. Shut your mouths and open your ears – listen and learn.
