Both my grown-up kids are over there, and their families. One is on the northern outskirts of Sydney, with their house backed by bush. The fires hit Bilpin recently, they’re in line from there – sort of, tho’ quite a ways back. Here’s a link to the Bilpin fire, where it could be seen racing up a 200 metre cliff.
So for couple of weeks or so now I’ve been starting every day by checking the Aus news, – various outlets, and in particular the fire service map. After a couple of days of cooler relief, it’s set to take off again very soon. SBS link here.
Yeah, selling your soul to Mammon, never mind the planet and its survival. Stop tourism in New Zealand, at least the carbon fueled travel by air and large cruise ships, let them sail in and out on ships with traditional sails, ban all else.
