SkyCity Convention Centre fire: Employees report burning throats, eyes and fainting

SkyCity is claiming its premises are safe, despite reports of employees fainting, feeling dizzy and smelling smoke.

The air at SkyCity has been monitored over the last three days since the convention centre fire and consistently met regulatory standards, deeming the precinct “safe for business”, a spokeswoman said.

External contractors had been on site to help with cleaning and a team of “science based experts” had worked to ensure the site was safe for staff and customers.

Having the Casino closed for any period of time will be crippling SkyCity and the fire at their conference centre will be setting them up for an enormous money hole as well, so of course they would reopen their Casino with the sort of undue haste a P addict goes right back to their dealer after a heart attack with.

There are already questions over how SkyCity evacuated staff as the fire blazed so cramming them back into the Casino with noxious gas everywhere should surprise no one, I would expect Management to get staff back into work within 24 hours of a bubonic plague outbreak while claiming the fleas won’t bite.

It’s hilarious that SkyCity’s corporate team wasn’t returning until today while staff were expected to work the weekend and it’s concerning that they are warning pregnant women to stay away because if it’s unsafe for pregnant women, it’s hardly going to be conducive to  good health for anyone else.

It really says something about the day after Labour Day when we ‘celebrated’ the sick joke weakened Union powers have become with a large business forcing staff back to work in an environment that may make them sick.
