  1. I feel let down by Labour now as they came in brandishing the clean green banner to clean up our environment and save us from quote “our generations nucear moment”

    At least jacinda should be doing this here. ‘get rail mooving in all our regions’ and why you ask” read this;

“Report says tiny plastic particles are from clothing, tyres”

Press release by Citizens Environmental Advocacy Centre. 23rd August 2019.

THIS REPORT WAS RELEASED ON FEBRUARY 22, 2017 AND THAT GAVE LABOUR ADEQUATE TIME TO ACT AFTER BECOMMING GOVERNMENT.

    https://phys.org/news/2017-02-tiny-plastic-particles-tyres-clogging.html

Quote; – “Tiny plastic particles from clothing, tyres clogging oceans: report”

This report shows that tyre particulates are already found to be freely released in the tyre dust as we drive on our roads now.

Then we are advised these plastic particles are then washed off our roads into our drains, streams, rivers, lakes and aquifers, and finally into our drinking water as we heard all last week over the press.

So we road users are part of the problem now!

Sorry but EV vehicles will still emit the same tyre dust toxins as regular gasoline vehicles do.
So what do we do now?

This new scientific German report https://www.sott.net/article/418585-Plastic-particles-falling-out-of-sky-with-snow-in-the-Arctic
‘Raining plastic’ – QUOTE “fragments of rubber tyres”, signals we need to move now.

Tyre dust pollution was found by lead scientist, Dr Melanie Bergmann in the laboratory at Germany’s Alfred Wegener Institute in Bremerhaven discovered far more contaminating particles than they’d expected.

This clearly shows the gravity of the problems we have with too many oil based synthetic tyres used on our roads now.

These scientific reports are finally making us face reality here to warn us all of very important issues’ – to serious to ignore now.

We need to reduce our over-use of plastic tyres, and our first signal is to lower truck freight and car use now, by using public passenger rail and move at least half our freight movement onto rail.

There are no tyres used on rail, as they use only “steel wheels on a steel track” – ‘making rail virtually the lowest emitter of plastics.’

CEAC is advocating for this Government to use rail to lower freight truck tyre emissions for climate change and our NZ water quality.

What hope for him with War maniac Bolton and U$ toady Bojo rubbing up each other ! This is fascism with just a semblance of a glove on its fist.

  3. I love Martyn Bradbury as he always cals a spade a spade where others fear to tread.

Here is my salvo today after seeing Stuart nash ranting on his response to being abusive to others in his often bad tempered manner.

Today we are speaking about ‘social considerations/conscience.

    23/8/19.

Our family like likely to vote for ‘Social Credit’ now during the 2020 election, because Social Credit is far more ‘socially responsible’ above all others, at a glance.

All the other parties at present appear to be leaning towards being “risk adverse” as they are all descending into the big dark hole of being risk adverse and willing to endanger our population and damaging the health and wellbeing of all citizens now.

There are far better ways for political parties to meet with providing citizens with health and wellbeing success while taking a bare minimum of risk.

Risk-averse politics now seem to favour the method of playing it safe, preferring slow and steady gains to the possibility of a political failure.

    Assessment
The first key to managing the risks involved in any project is to make an assessment.

Developing a framework for risk assessment is worthwhile, and it doesn’t have to be a complex or high-budget endeavour.

Risk assessment involves taking stock of any project and determining what problems could arise beyond normal expenses.

Many outside factors must be considered, such as any adverse environmental impacts to citizens interests, while assessing the economy, citizens demand and labour relations.

A good risk assessment takes account of anything that could go wrong with a project and firstly must have regard for the cost to provide Environmental, social, health and wellbeing responsibility then determine what it would cost would finally be.

Risk assessment allows a political party to decide if proceeding with a project is worthwhile, after first considering their responsibility to provide citizens with Environmental, social, health and wellbeing.

Labour needs to shut down half the truck freight and spend big on regional rail, as rail has a definite proven safety advantage while offering a ‘low carbon footprint’ as well.

This simply one way to save our ‘Environmental, social, health and wellbeing’, as there are many more that need addressing also.

Yesterday the national shadow transport MP said “NZ are registering 1200 new vehicles each day”.
QUESTION; Labour what are you doing to reduce the vehicle fleet?

nothing I see here if these numbers are correct.
We need a bold policy of ‘action not words.’

As the saying goes; -“Action speaks louder than words”

  4. China Did Not Trick the US — Trade Negotiators Served Corporate Interests

“China has a huge trade surplus with the United States, about $420 billion (2.1 percent of GDP) as of 2018. However, this doesn’t mean that China is winning at the expense of the United States and because of “stupid” trade negotiators, as Trump puts it.

The U.S. trade deficit with China was not an accident. Both Republican and Democratic administrations signed trade deals that made it easy to manufacture goods in China and other countries, and then export them back to the United States.

In many cases, this meant that large U.S. corporations, like General Electric and Boeing, outsourced parts of their operations to China to take advantage of low-cost labor there. In other cases, retailers like Walmart set up low-cost supply chains so that they could undercut their competitors in the U.S. market.

General Electric, Boeing, Walmart and the rest did not lose from our trade deficit with China. In fact, the trade deficit was the result of their efforts to increase their profits. They have little reason to be unhappy with the trade deals negotiated over the last three decades.

It is a very different story for workers in the United States. As a result of the exploding trade deficit, we lost 3.4 million manufacturing jobs between 2000 and 2007, 20 percent of the workers in the sector. This is before the collapse of the housing bubble led to the Great Recession. We lost 40 percent of all unionized jobs in manufacturing.

The overwhelming majority of people in the United States have never had any intellectual property stolen by China.
This job loss not only reduced the pay of manufacturing workers, but as these displaced workers flooded into other sectors, it put downward pressure on the pay of less-educated workers generally. This is a pretty awful story, but it is not a story of China tricking our so-called stupid negotiators; it is a story of smart negotiators who served well the interest of corporations.”
