It is an affront to the concept of the Fourth Estate that the NZ mainstream media are far more focused on a bullshit Hooton/Bishop con scandal on a Julie-Anne Genter ‘secret letter’ than they are on the decision by the SFO to quietly drop any investigation into corporate spies, Thompson & Clark.
Julie-Anne Genter wrote a letter to Wellington Council demanding they support public transport and Bishop & Hooton have managed to turn that into an enormous con scandal which the media have entered into a feeding frenzy over, meanwhile the Serious Fraud Office quietly drops an investigation into corporate spies that they themselves and most of the entire State uses and the media are asleep at the wheel on that story.
If only the media would pay as much attention to real erosions of our civil liberties by the State that they to to nothing political shit-stirring ‘gotchas’ cooked up by Hooton and Bishop.
This is why we can’t have real accountability in NZ, because the media are too interested in petty crap rather than true abuse of power.
Our main stream media comprises sports journalists and sports journalists pretending to be non-sports journalists
The Mainstream Media understands where their bread and butter is, and it is all about who is actually paying the piper ?
