Grant Robertson suggests Bridges’ PM criticism has ‘sexist overtone’
Calling Jacinda Ardern a “part-time Prime Minister” is a desperate measure from a National leader struggling to resonate with voters, Government Minister Grant Robertson says.
And he has suggested that Bridges was dog-whistling to voters who don’t think Ardern can be a full-time Prime Minister while being a mother at the same time, suggesting the comment had “sexist” overtones.
I’m not sure who is more annoying. People who think ‘Part-time PM’ is the most clever insult ever created or People who think it is the most offensive thing ever spoken in the english language.
This game of mediocrity masquerading as outrage is going to be the entire election next year isn’t it?
What was interesting to me was that when you went to the #ParttimePM hash tag, the thread was really a 4chan voyage into an incel nightmare landscape of angry revenge fantasists, like hating Jacinda THAAAAAT much just sounds so wounded and damaged doesn’t it?
All I’m hearing when I read that thread was a lot of lonely men needing hugs.
What Bridges was cashing in on by calling Jacinda a Part-time PM was the basic ignorance of the NZ population, most of whom would have no comprehension whatsoever as to what the ‘Realm of NZ’ actually is. Rather than understanding that visiting Tokalau is an obligation and responsibility because it is in the Realm of NZ, most NZers (who let’s be honest aren’t that bright) see the trip as a bloody holiday.
So Bridges is playing to gaps in the basic general knowledge of NZ and he will continue gaining media traction if the Left keep biting rather than exposing his ignorance.
I care less about a ‘PartTimePM’ and care more about a ‘run away PM’ who tries to threaten Journalists about asking questions she doesn’t like.
I think PartTimePM will resonate with a lot of voters because Adern seems to spend a lot of time overseas and appears on a lot of magazine covers.
This is made worse by dropping the Ihumatao bomb, passing off to Tokelau to avoid the fallout and then threatening press who do their jobs.
It doesn’t help that all the privately owned media are competing to be NZ’s Fox Lies.
Such uniformity is no accident. Look at the owners.
It’s funny cos the left say the media is right biased and vice versa.
Neither statement holds a lot of credibility IMO.
Certainly there are individuals who have left and right leanings, but nothing such that you are suggesting.
“I think PartTimePM will resonate with a lot of voters”… And when John Key was spending half of his time going on holidays, and the rest of it doing nothing more than photo ops, the “voters” swelled with pride at our “rock star” PM… What is it going to take for the halfway intelligent “voters” to call out the utterly deliberate and traitorous shit the “news media” passes off as truth in the pursuit of victory for the multi national military/industrial corporations that own the National party of New Zealand?? This has gone well past a joke.. If the proletariat don’t wake up soon, and realise that the unions, and each other, are the only allies they have in what is a fight to the death against the descendants of the colonial thieves and murderers who have NEVER stopped, and will never stop rapng NZ’s recourses for the benefit of their traditional “superiors”, who will probably never set foot in this country, and don’t have the warm air of a bout of flatulence to give the people who do the work to create the wealth for them… Then NZ has no real future as a society…
