Truth be told, school can be overwhelming at times. Classes, homework, readings, exams, extra-curricular activities, and you still need to have some personal time!

How can students squeeze all of these activities in a day?

School nowadays means everything is happening all at once (and we haven’t even gone into the problem of gadgets yet)! With so many things to accomplish, any student can feel anxious. It can feel intimidating. It will appear like there’s a Herculean task ahead of you.

Because of the never-ending to-do list, there’s a tendency to miss some of the deadlines and produce mediocre results. Of course, no one wants that. However, this is a typical student’s life.

How can students cope? They can conquer all of these by leveraging on these two steps.

  • Start Organising – No task is too big if you get down and organise everything. You may have a hundred and one things to do but when you sit down and organise them – things will be easier. When you organize your activities, it’s easier to break them down into smaller tasks. As the phenomenal Author and Decluttering extraordinaire says:

“Visible mess helps distract us from the true source of the disorder.” ― Marie Kondō, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing

This will make difficult tasks, easier to accomplish. And with organising the things you need to do, you lessen the chances of missing deadlines. Because when your organise, you prioritise what needs to be done first.

  • Getting Enough Sleep – A common mistake students do is extending their day by delaying sleep. They have this notion that if they do more for the day, they will be more productive.  This runs counter to what the studies require on the number of hours an average sleep for young adults should have. (See: https://www.helpguide.org/articles/sleep/sleep-needs-get-the-sleep-you-need.htm)
Needless to say sleep-deprivation is a common-problem among the young ones. They always want to do more, squeeze in more school work or sometimes fiddle with their gadgets before sleep.

The next day, they wake up again. Of course, not without feeling sluggish. And with this their productivity plummets. So yes, getting less sleep doesn’t get students ahead.

One must also pay attention also to their sleeping conditions. This means they should have the right pillows and mattresses. Mattresses that can fully support a tired body. The truth is, a lot of students don’t even have a decent bed to sleep on!

They argue that they do not have time to buy a bed because it’s too much of an effort to get one. Actually, it shouldn’t be much of a hassle because they can purchase a mattress in a box

And if they are really too busy to go to the mall, showroom or whatever, they can also buy mattress online. One must never underestimate the power of a comfortable mattress as nothing beats quality sleep.

Conclusion

When students feel there’s too much going on in their lives, they should step back and check on their lifestyle. One, they should start organising. Secondly, get that proper sleep now. No procrastinating. Doing them may sound like an inconvenience initially, but these two activities can actually propel them to better productivity and mood.
