So what is actually happening inside National? Will Judith knife Simon?

After another week of breathless mainstream media breaking gossip masquerading as news,  Simon Bridges is still the leader and Judith Collins has not made her move.

So what is actually going on?

Talking with insiders, here’s how I see it.

1 – With so many leaks, it makes the claim that the only disloyal foot soldier was Jami-Lee Ross an obvious falsehood.

2 – There are three basic factions. Those who support Bridges, those who support Judith and those who support anyone but Judith.

3 – It is this third group who are leaking to the media in an attempt to push Judith into taking the poisoned chalice of leadership now believing her failure at the election would doom her longevity and allow them to replace her post 2020.

4 – Judith wants to move after the election to allow Bridges to lose the election and take a full 3 years to build her dark empire.

5 – The reason National Party power brokers don’t want Judith is out of a genuine concern of what she would do if she gained power.  She scares the bejesus out of most of them.

  1. Who gives a fuck? Why aren’t you starting a petition to have the Chinese spy stripped of its citizenship and residency and deported? Oh, that’s right… you’re not part of the underclass, you’re part of the propertied class… how’s Grant? How’s Trotter? How’s Brucie?

    • Jesus fucking Christ. LMAO. Why don’t you crank that petition up? I’m not afraid to allow members of parliament certain inalienable rights. There is at least 120 different ways into parliament. Not every way is morally superior but once a member that has to mean something. Perhaps a better argument for boring an MP out of parliament besides an election than a petition? Perhaps bullying him in the debating chamber but his high tier ability to be unavailable will take its toll.

    • Anyone that reads TDB obviously gives enough of one to do at least that!

Parliamentary Opposition leader is of interest to those that follow politics closely because it affects the dynamics of the party regarding strategy and tactics, despite the unchanged pro capitalist class position of National regardless of who is leader.

The propertied class? That is around half of New Zealanders, the other half are “generation rent”. But none the less, it is spurious grounds for criticising the writers here, akin to calling Greens hypocrites for using vehicles or air travel.

  2. I don’t think [it] actually matters.
I don’t think it matters which party we have ‘in’.
I think our politics is nothing more than quaint customs where people ‘elected’ go to parliament to play make-believe while we normals hope to Christ we never learn what it is that’s actually going on.
The thing that scares the be-Jesus out of me is that we’re only 4.7 million people on a resource rich land bigger than the UK with its 70mil? You just know, that, that kind of science will fuck us up. Global warming and the loopy U$A’ers and the funny little Chinese are gagging to bang their wee diddles about and here we are? Buggering about on Paradise while the freaky fucking wolves watch from the deep dark forest.
Now, would be a good time to wrap ourselves in tinfoil and stick our thumbs out in hoping a passing UFO gives us a lift to anywhere but here.
A word on judith collins. I think she’s quite mad. Insane. No, really. I’d love to know what a psychiatric evaluation might reveal.

  3. Who wants the “worst job in the world”? No one in the national party, apart from Simon. Well maybe post 2020. Not now.

Election 2023 could look popcorn time.

  4. The reason she scares the bejesus out of most of them is because she’s a scary woman – actually make that dangerous scary woman.
You think this country has problems now? Heaven help us all if she ever made it into power. The phrase “hell freezes over” comes to mind.
She always talks in those subversive, hushed tones. The same way the bad guy in a James Bond movie lowers his voice when he’s about to make a threat towards someone.
Rarely is she seen smiling. In most photos she’s scowling like an alley cat. When she is smiling, it’s because she’s hiding something, up to something or both. John Key grinned like the Cheshire Cat, she grins when she’s not telling the truth.

    • I saw her arrive twice at TV3 when I worked there. Chauffeur driven, ofc.

She got out, and sat down in the lobby with the most dirty foul look on her face I’d seen on anyone in a long time. I’ll never forget that. It could of been when she was stood down by John Key to be fair… it could have been a variety of reasons , but I don’t care… if your going to present your case before the nation you don’t come on looking like that.

It was the look of contempt and hostility.

We don’t want that sort of person as PM.

      Ever.
