Better Public Media Trust is holding a public meeting this Sunday to discuss the future of public television.

New Zealand’s public media is at a crossroads and the new Minister of Broadcasting, Media and Digital Communications, Kris Faafoi has options to consider.

  • Does he continue with Clare Curran’s RNZ+ idea?
  • Or is TVNZ better placed to create a public TV channel?
  • Perhaps he’ll combine it all together?
  • Or should he just push everything online?

Media are invited to the meeting as the public have their say along with speakers from RNZ, NZ on Air, AUT, Newsroom and BPM.

Ellen Melville Hall, High Street, Auckland City
2pm – 3.30pm on Sunday, 4th November

  1. Is there a future for Public TV?

Not with all the ‘national cling-ons’ still embedded inside it.

We need to take RNZ apart and rebuild it from the top down.

  2. If Faafoi has nothing better to do he should go with RNZ+ideas shouldn’t he?

Second it’s no good putting 3 channels under one roof.

    Cocktails are even worse.

And are you shore you want to compete against some young upstart on YouTube or Google? All they do all day is crush competition. You guys should be moving to protect institutional knowledge. You know that little 3 digit number imprinted on every piece of copy write material that normal people don’t have access to unless they can fight against TVNZs checkbook.

It’s not even about content any more. It’s about who can sell the most electronics. Yknow? Legislation always lags behind tech.
