Paula Bennett complaining about Jacinda using an Ad agency for UN trip is rich when you consider National’s meth hysteria campaign

I’m sorry, what the fuck?

Paula Bennett whinging and complaining about Jacinda hiring an agency to photograph her UN trip?

Really Paula?

You are bitching about the PM funding this when you ran a hate campaign against State Tenants so you could ram through the privatisation of State Housing?

Remember this?

Let’s do a cost analysis of this shall we?

Jacinda has been seen by millions promoting modernity, feminism and a politics of kindness where as Paul’a hate campaign against state tenants to privatise state houses saw 2400 thrown onto the streets, $120million needlessly spent and state tenants having their possessions destroyed and $7million in costs made against them.

Who was the better value for money?

That aside, I’m pretty sure a PR firm lobbied for Key to appear on Leterman.

Oh look at that, they did…

PR firm lobbied to get Key on Letterman Show
A public relations firm was paid $10,000 to broker John Key’s appearance on the Letterman Show – a deal Tourism NZ says is well worth the money.

…the National Party are so spiteful and so desperate to hide their spite they will make any mountain out of a mole hill. It would be funny if the mainstream media weren’t so happy to feed it like they did the meth hysteria.

  1. Spot on there Martyn. I saw this load of pathetic codswallop as NZH headlines this morning, written by none other than Natz media mouthpiece, Claire Trevatt!

Jacinda has pointed out quite clearly her reasons for contracting a NY based PR firm and where the funding came from. Can’t see any more justification required on her part. Particularly as it’s been indicated the (hush?) money paid to Todd Barclay’s electorate secretary Glenis Dickson, came from John Key’s leader’s fund, as did Jacinda’s funding to cover the NY PR company. So it seems no rules broken there on the PM Jacinda’s part.

Just spiteful, petulant Natz stirring the pot, in an attempt to point score and play ridiculous gotcha games while making the fact very clear, they want to destroy Jacinda and the coalition government by any means possible. Doing nothing positive for NZ at all.

Now while Paula’s pretending to be all outraged, she might also ask her own leader Simon to justify his NZ tiki tour over the top expenses! We are still waiting to hear from him on that one and also whether he will use that domestic trip to campaign! Also is the Natz leaker going to be exposed any time soon?

  2. One must really compliment the NZ National Party for their rampant hypocrisy when they conveniently forget, probably due to their selective amnesia, this article from 2013 when Paula Bennett’s beloved John Key was still prime minister of New Zealand:

Why has there been not a twitter of concern by Paula Bennett in regards to the Meth mis-spending whilst there was a National government??? Why not a twitter of anything smart or intelligent from Paula Bennett in any way or form since she and her bunch of cronies were relegated to the Opposition?
Is there the strong and rotting smell of a jealous National Party pervading in their very words and actions since they lost their right to be a government???!!!!
Not a peep out of Paula Bennett in regards to the mis-spending by Simon Bridges when it came to using NZ taxpayers money on his(Bridges) accommodation and travel costs of late.
But in her feeble attempt to appear all righteous and above condemnation Paula Bennett makes a song and dance about Jacinda and Clarke with baby Neve having a photo opportunity.
Where was Paula Bennett when Key and his family were treating a RNZAF as their very OWN Airforce One and there were photos of Max Key asleep on the plane on a flight to Sydney????!!!
Methinks the National lot are very selective as to what photos they want shown to the NZ public but will show their pure hypocrisy by coming down like a tonne of bricks when it comes to the current government.
Pity National just cannot get the picture they cannot be without sin when their past actions and that of John Key showed to us all how much of a photo opportunity seeking lot they were.

  4. Just another day in Nationals smear/hate/dirty politics campaign paradise. Today it was Paula’s turn and yes, it’s getting that predictable.

They must have studied, researched, schemed, focus grouped and finally settled on a strategy they think may scare the horses in their relentless attacks on Jacinda.

The thing is, so little of their little issues really mean a lot and some like Bishops smear against Winston over that Deputy Police Commissioner don’t even hold up to the slightest bit of scrutiny.

Still they have the backing of legendary objectives disciples like the Hosk, Heather DPA and the increasingly grumpy old man Soper, who seems to find fault lately with what Jacinda had on her sandwiches. Such is the barren wasteland that is our corporate media!

    • Thanks for the ‘barren wasteland’ bit Xray, it sent me scrambling for my TS Eliot – when I should be doing other things.

A collective madness has engulfed the National Party and some of the Herald scribblers. Ardern discomforts them with concepts such as kindness – Peters talks of values, which is an okay sort of conversation to be having – Francesca blogged here a few weeks back about sticking to one’s values and I salute her for that.

I am not cruel enough to enumerate the ways in which Ardern may be eating away at Bennett, but at my mean convent boarding school, every Sunday the nuns scored us out of 10, for infringements, such as talking on the stairway. This is the level the Nats are at now, grasping at noodles seemingly oblivious to the fact that their clumsy greedy stint in government ripped the fabric of society into the jagged sort of pieces which the Ardern govt knows need to be stitched together again, and it angers Natties because it is concerns people they do not give a tinker’s damn about, people who do not have the money, or the knowledge, or the connections, or the dishonesty, to engage in the self-serving rorts which they did, and as such should not be bothered about. Their inability to see the big picture, if genuine, is perplexing – perhaps they have moted-up eyes or fogged-up grey matter, but they are looking more and more pathetic.

  5. I don’t believe Paula Bennett to be mentally stable. Putting her nutty statements aside, her facial expressions in parliament are akin to that of a mental patient.

I cannot diagnose her and I’m not trying to be awful. What is of real concern is her place on the National Party List and that 56.1% of Upper Harbour voters elected her.

Going forward; it appears NZ will be suck with Bennett for a very long time to come .. very unfortunate. We can’t do anything about her ranking on National’s Party List, though, perhaps TOP will run a candidate to try and unseat her.

  6. Just because National did the same doesn’t make this right.
It was an obvious and selfish waste of tax payer money on something that benefits only Adern and Labour.

Defending Labour over this is the same as your daughter defending her crashing your car because your son had done it previously.

    • Defending Labour over this is the same as your daughter defending her crashing your car because your son had done it previously.

      Wrong analogy.

It would be like Martyn’s son moralising and berating his sister for crashing the family car – despite the son having done precisely the same thing.

      A better analogy.

      • Wrong again. It would be like the sister telling her brother that she is an absolute angel, that she would never drive a car and only use public transport, would never lie about it, for she is so virtuous.

Then proceeds to drive the family car everyday without telling anyone, one day crashes but doesn’t tell anyone. Blames her brother for the damage.

    • What makes it right or wrong or something is that those moaning bitching grizzling and getting on the bandwagon of those doing that, didn’t mind, didn’t say anything when their favourites were doing it.

Like Key on TV telling bare-faced lies and accepting that, yet a couple of years down the track saying the PM must tell the truth. Like getting their knickers in a twist over a staff/MP problem and wanting the details after in an earlier instance down south saying it was okay for it to be quietly ‘sorted out.’

If you do some reading you may find that the same actions benefitted “only Key and National.” Here’s your chance, tell us what you said and did about it then. You didn’t know about it? Why? Because Mike Hosking didn’t make a fuss about it?
