Simeon Brown’s pathetic crusade and get tough on drugs bullshit is the problem…

Simeon Brown: ‘Ensuring those who supply these drugs understand the consequences’

…no one wants an underground synthetic cannabis industry, that’s why there was an attempt to legalise the industry remember?

That fell over when the National Government delayed the implementation of the basic standards and led to a Wild West market where there was no product standards.

That forced the market underground and is producing the damage we are seeing now.

The irony of this entire tragedy is that if cannabis was legalised we wouldn’t have a synthetic cannabis market in the first place.

The only thing Brown’s pathetic publicity stunt will do is put more addicts and sick people into prison for longer periods of time. He claims he’s only targeting the dealers with increasing prison sentences up to 8 years but that shows a grotesque level of ignorance of the drug market. Increase the risk for dealers, and it’s the users who ultimately pay more in every sense.

We need an adult discussion on these social issues and what are we getting? Cheap shot politics that create more counter productive outcomes.

  1. Yes he is a product of the ‘right wing opportunists’ he is!

So anywhere they can smell ‘money to be made’ they will change laws to ‘capitalise ‘ on their schemes.

  2. What a nasty little bible-thumping twerp he is. And the fact that he’s MP for Pakuranga, that bluest of blue National seats, probably means we’re going to be stuck with him for 30 years at least.
