National Party grotesque misrepresentation of Pacific Aid

The National Party are following Steven Joyce’s $11.7billion dollar budget hole example of bare faced lying and grotesque misinterpretation of the facts to enrage their redneck raw meat reactionary voters by insinuating the new aid budget (the majority of which is going to Pacific Islands) is somehow cheating Kiwis at home.

How charming of them, almost as charming as the mainstream media coverage which rather than criticising the blatant racial undertones of this bullshit, are instead pontificating about it all as if its some type of academic debate in strategy …

National’s been ramping up its attack ads – smart politics or fake news?

Part of being a good opposition is attacking when you see the opportunity, then making hay while the sun shines.

National has been ramping up its attack ads ahead of the Government’s first budget next week, but some may have over-stepped the mark.

The party has posted a new meme, claiming the Government would spend $1 billion funding foreign diplomats, at the expense of cheaper GP visits. But the prime minister has called this “fake news”.

…all the National MPs are on social media stirring this lie…

Let’s get some things straight here.

1: It’s not a billion for diplomats & embassies, that’s a grotesque misrepresentation, only $190m are going on embassies and diplomats, the remaining $710m is going on aid, and seeing as this amounts to .23% of NZs GDP when the UN standard is .7% I don’t think we can seriously begrudge our international obligations nor our responsibilities to the Pacific.

2: The Children’s Camp Amy Adams is whining about were turned down for funding under 8 years of National in power so holding that up as an example is actually disingenuous and corrupt.

3: If we are going to play the ‘you’re funding this but not that game’, didn’t National blow $24million on a vanity project to change the flag while homelessness jumped to 41000?

NZ requires an Opposition that will hold the Government to account, what we have however is a Party wilfully happy to manipulate and lie to generate divisive anger in their supporters.

This isn’t dirty politics, it’s ugly politics.

  1. National are disgusting as they caused us all so much pain and suffering.

Our country is now almost on it’s knees now after years of cuts and slashing of services and ”deferred maintenance’ everywhere, you can look it is visible that our infrastructure is very sick now.

This will cost a lot to bring it back up to the standards that we had them in just a decade ago.

National should be changed with willfully wrecking our country.

  2. There appears to be a firm push again or should I say as always in the N.Z. Herald attacking the government on every issue. Most disturbingly are the recent items by Soper and Hosking attacking N.Z. First policies stating that N.Z. First is doing the complete opposite to what their voter base voted them in on. These articles then end with statements relating to the demise and dissolvement of N.Z. First. As the saying goes, some of this mud slinging sticks and it can be best described as “Dirty Politics”

The most galling part of all of this is that the N.Z. Herald hardly ever held the National party to account. Luckily, at the last election, over 50% of the country knew the appalling nature of National’s destruction of services and portfolio’s.

  3. Stinky National

I would like to send Amy Adams a ittle gift of Perfume.

The poor lass has been with national for a while now and is a bit on the nose.

She has just outlandishly claimed that Labour is going to spend $1Billion on appointing Ambassadors.

Her Brain is deeply affected by associating with the ungifted lot she has chosen.

She also claims that although Labour has apparently not funded $3m for Traumatised Children, her brain failed to mention that national did not fund it for 8 years.

Amy needs freshening up. I really do think things are pretty messy in the caucus of the wealthy.

  4. This is part of the push-back against what is becoming a very popular government. The PM had an impressive international trip which resonated locally and strengthened her popularity. The orchestrated attacks such as the Gayford rumours, and now this, are cringeworthy and embarrassing for the national party, and just make them look desperate.

    • Unfortunately the 44% just lap it up, hook line and sinker. The more the
media do it, the better the mindless mob likes it.

  5. Is it just me – or is anyone else getting the feeling that Amy Adam’s relationship to the truth is highly flexible?
How compromised is she now as a future leadership candidate when Bridges falls?

  6. That is very good coming from National who’s foreign affairs activities mostly involved either being told to stand in the corner by the Australians or paying bribes to Saudi businessmen (for nothing).

  7. It’s National that has the cash to splash on this shit ($4.5 million budget for last election campaign dwarfed that of all other parties).

It’s National that has admitted having a dedicated social media campaign spreading this propaganda.

It’s National that has leader that (from well worn habit perhaps?) ‘likes’ spiteful tweets from disreputable trolls.

Power at all costs. And with their sizeable budget, the financial cost isn’t a problem. Neither are any ethical or moral concessions.

    And it works ‘cos……
Ignorance. Apathy. Despair. Misinformation. Greed. Envy. Powerlessness.

Welcome to the 21st Century version of democracy.
    Bloody wonderful, innit?

  8. The hypocrisy of the National Party is breath-taking.

Why didnt they fund healthcare properly during their 9 years in office? Was it beyind their dim wittedness?

  9. Given that National had three times the budget for propsganda/marketing, in the election, it would be wise to ask oneself ‘Does this represent a just or fair electoral process ‘?

  11. A paternalistic & jobs for me mates spend up. Who’s really navigating this waka? I can see Winston admiring his own image in the rippling waters of Pasifika. There’s heaps of us struggling to make ends meet right here at home, & don’t forget the infra-structure catch ups & future proofing that’s long overdue. Absolutely insensitive & shameful.

  12. This really made me angry. It turned up on my Facebook by an accidental friend. On going back on line I found Winston’ s speech outlying the TRUTH of this billion dollar spending. Pretty sure it won’t get read but I wanted the TRUTH to be on my Facebook. I will be sharing as much as I can on my fb to maintain the balance between truth and fake news.

  14. Geez i despise the National party and the people who are involved with it at every level.
They contribute nothing worthwhile in government or in opposition except to rage at and assault good decent people trying to deal with the National parties incompetence and destructive mentality.
These people are not worth pissing on.

  15. National’s lack of aid in the Pacific was a BIG mistake, and the Chinese have seized the opportunity in the gap left by NZ to supply aid and loans to increase their presence in the region…possibly a covert military presence. Peter’s is right to beef up aid and Foreign Affairs, we do not live in a vacuum…
