Portal walk marks new chapter in Pike story

Today Pike River families walked further into the mine’s drift than they have ever been allowed to.

The walk, with Minister Andrew Little, marks another important milestone in the recovery process and symbolises how far the families have come in their quest for truth and justice.

Pike River mother Sonya Rockhouse says the experience was emotionally overwhelming. “Where we stood today would have been part of a thirty meter thick permanent concrete seal by now if we hadn’t taken our stand, and we would never had had the chance to recover our boys and the evidence that is in the drift.

“It’s a weird feeling to have been standing there with so much hope, but also with the feeling of darkness and grief that Pike brings with it.”

Pike River widow, Anna Osborne agrees. “Today I was closer to Milt than I’ve been since the last day he last walked into that awful place, it breaks my heart to be there, but I also know that we are coming for him and for the truth and justice that he and his mates deserve.

“Who would have thought that our last ditch attempt to stop the truth being sealed away just a year and a half ago would lead to this moment. It’s a tribute to the incredible support we have had from New Zealanders and it restores my faith in people, and in our government.”

    • Some of those 44.5% are deluded by MSM and the bullshit propagated by business NZ. Predators are among us.

  1. One would like to hope that the people working within NZ’s MSM and government would be working with the countries best interests at heart…. very debatable, especially concerning the previous national government. Why so cruel to these families national?
A concrete wall for God’s sake! Shame.
Andrew little, a person with a heart at last – a ray of sunshine after 9 years of dark.

  2. This should be mandatory reading for those keenly wishing to see justice served.

    You are all correct.

But the justice you want to see done has been stonewalled deliberately , – and not just by the inner core of the recent National party , but also by those offshore foreign bankers , particularity those in the ‘ City of London ‘.

It is they who own the local banks in NZ and Australia and it is they who also own the mining company’s. It is they also that know that the ironsands on the North Islands west coast beaches is worth somewhere in the vicinity of 1 to 5 TRILLION dollars.

During the early stages of Keys Govt , they proposed mining our National Parks under a Section 4 report. That also included the ironsands on the beaches. Part of the reason for Pike River was to use its high quality coking coal to refine the ironsands in a high tech steel refinery.

This refinery would not be truly NZ owned but like the mining operations themselves,- indirectly foreign owned and controlled.

With all the profits going offshore and a token pittance for ‘leasing rights’ given to Govt.

It however , was defeated publicly at the time.

The licenses to mine have not been revoked. And part of the reason by Keys Govt to impoverish so many New Zealanders and downgrade our infrastructure were to introduce austerity measures through debt ( recall the colossal borrowing done by Key yet still affording tax cuts to the very rich… ) … which would soften people up to the idea of mining our National Parks. Yet , as said , with the profits not remaining in NZ and certainly not benefiting the people of NZ.

They also were after an excuse for destructive open cast mining – far less expensive for them.

Pike River IS a crime scene.

And a big part of that was to close it down, claim insurance and justify Pikes closure by encouraging the public to give its approval to opencast mining in the wake of such a tragedy. So 29 men paid for this international crime with their lives. The perpetrators could care less about them. They are after capital and power. And that’s all.

    These are the globalists.
