Jetstar manges to crap all over NZer of the Year

Jetstar as a company in NZ has this terrible reputation of being vicious to NZers when it comes to any kind of basic customer service.

They are sold as a budget airline, but have somehow managed to carry that ‘we are better than you’ vibe that so many Australians are dipped in when dealing with Kiwi’s, so while the service is basic, the welcome has all the warmth of a kick in the balls.

Jetstar have been in trouble before with their obnoxiousness  but even they have managed to outdo themselves with their latest shit on NZ…

New Zealander of the Year Kristine Bartlett gets wings clipped by Jetstar
Controversial airline Jetstar is under fire for its attempt to extract hundreds of dollars from a struggling grandmother hailed for her work for the under-privileged.

Newly crowned New Zealander of the Year Kristine Bartlett was given a shock when she tried to fly home after receiving her prize this week, only to find she’d booked her return flights for a month ahead, and would have to pay to change them.

The equal pay campaigner had flown from Wellington to Auckland for the awards, but when she returned to Auckland Airport to head home on February 23, she was told her flight wasn’t until March 23.

…they forced the NZer of the Year to pay over two and a half times for her one way flight and would’ve gotten away with it if the media hadn’t found out and immediately began bombarding Jetstar for comment.

The second that happened, lo and behold, Jetstar suddenly remembered it had a rule that anyone who misbooked in February gets to change their flights for free , which really sounds like on of those bullshit things you come up with when you are in danger of leading the news headlines as the airline that shat all over the NZer of the Year.

Less Jetstar, more Jetrat

“Controversial airline Jetstar is under fire for its attempt to extract hundreds of dollars from a struggling grandmother hailed for her work for the under-privileged.”

Corporate greed in full gaze of us all.

Private enterprise = cut corners use the word “efficiency” provide a lower level of service.

  2. I am appalled that our own television news did not mention the award until after two commercial breaks and well down its list in the news coverage.

Maybe it is because the award went to someone who championed the plight of the many workers in one of our slave wage industries the aged care sector and actually won a much deserved pay rise out of the last nasty National government and has made a huge difference in the lives of these exploited workers.

The award did not not go to a high profile rugby player, media sensation or wealthy socialite so hardly worth mentioning eh.

    Kristine who !!!!
