Kia ora whānau,

I’m pleased to announce that, alongside Economic and Social Research Aotearoa (ESRA), today we launched our report Solitary Confinement in New Zealand Prisons.

The report examines the conditions of solitary in New Zealand, as well as its devastating effects on people who experience it.

It is written in mostly simple and clear language that, I hope, communicates well why it is so necessary to abolish solitary confinement once and for all.

If you would like to read the report, you can view it online at https://esra.nz/solitary-confinement-new-zealand-prisons/. I have also attached a pdf copy for you.

Please share the report widely on social media, as well as with your friends and whānau! It is the research backbone to our campaign to end solitary confinement.

Also, don’t forget to sign our petition to end solitary confinement here: https://our.actionstation.org.nz/petitions/end-solitary-confinement-in-new-zealand-prisons-1

Thank you all again for your support.

Together we can end this cruel and inhumane practice.
