GUEST BLOG: Willie Jackson – We need to work together to end National

There has been a lot of push and shove from the Greens and NZ First this week and that’s not something to be frightened of because we need to be honest and upfront when we talk about politics and ultimately the power to run our country.

We should feel proud that we can have robust debate, this is a democracy and this is an election and we should embrace respectful argument, as long as we all remember the enemy is the National Party and not each other.

Because that’s what the polls are telling us. If you look at the two most recent polls, the leaked UMR Poll and the latest Roy Morgan Poll, what it shows is that Labour+Greens+NZ First can beat the National Party.

This is where we need solid leadership to be able to manage the relationships that matter to make replacing the government a possibility.

If you look at Labour, NZ First and Green policy, we all broadly agree on the main issues that confront our society, economy and environment. There is more that unites us than divides us and we need to champion those agreements rather than bicker on detail to ensure we can work together after the election because the people deserve better leadership than what this government is providing.

If you look at the fiasco of Bill English and the Todd Barclay affair. If you look at the vapid emptiness of their budget that simply attempts to bribe voters with a $20 a week tax cut but does nothing to address the housing crisis, mental health crisis or water crisis. If you look at the total lack of compassion to the victims of historic State abuse. On every count, this Government has lost the credibility to lead.

Opposition parties need to build the trust to voters that we will do far better, because New Zealander’s deserve far better.

On the other side of the political spectrum, ACT Party candidate, Beth Houlbrooke said some disgraceful beneficiary bashing comments which prompted an even more disgraceful threat of violence against her.

We must be clear that while our debate is passionate, we must never tolerate abuse and threats of violence.

The election is in September.

  1. No Leftie would support Winnie’s two pathetic referenda as a bottom line to a deal. The bastard’s mad!

    • No course not, nor should we. But renationalising our assets and actually investing in them (for eg) is an area we can agree. We’re not totally mutually exclusive, and don’t need to squabble about the headline-grabbing tactics they all use to use to cut through the noise in our inanity-saturated media.

  2. Hear hear Willie.
Whilst no single Opposition party (of the current choices available) is likely to completely satisfy the political desires of any particular individual, there is one paramount objective we as a nation simply MUST achieve!
Consigning this current corrupt cartel masquerading as a government to the garbage can where they belong.
Otherwise, not only will there be no change, but more importantly, there will be no hope for change. And that is a terrifying prospect.
    Please please vote!

    • Exactly , QUICKSILVER.

      And this :

… ” If you look at Labour, NZ First and Green policy, we all broadly agree on the main issues that confront our society, economy and environment. There is more that unites us than divides us and we need to champion those agreements rather than bicker on detail ” …

And this is the heart and soul of the matter.

Destroying National at the election is paramount. And Labour , Greens , NZ First are the party’s that can do it . As a collective team . All it takes is a sense of unity and the realization that the mutual benefits won will more than re-compensate for the input and the negotiations and concessions to be made afterwards.

There is a real chance for better and raised living standards for tens and tens of thousands of New Zealanders from all walks of life that rest on this. And many of the ailments of our society can be addressed properly .

No one needs to hear any more about child poverty – we all know about it.

No one needs to hear anymore about homelessness, subsistence wages , – we all know about it.

No one needs to hear anymore about inadequate welfare and DSW bullying, – we all know about it … and so on about polluted waterways , immigrant exploitation , un affordable housing , and so many other issues that have have deteriorated and are common knowledge under this corrupt National government.

This National government , their neo liberal senior core MP’s , and their PM’s , – have making a constant unofficial 9 year long war on the people of this country , – a war conducted against any demographic that fell outside of their perceived voting demographic.

A war against our environment , and a war against our democracy.

They have treated with cynical contempt working people, unemployed, the chronically ill , those who with good grounds had reason to dissent , – against all those they knew who could not fight back. And they tried to undemocratically slam through things like the TTPA that would have further sacrificed many of those groups on the altar of mammon.

Mammon that was only ever intended for the benefits of the likes of them and their oligarch benefactors both local and foreign.

And to do it they used tactics like dirty politics , smear campaigns , crony capitalism and exerting their influence over our very judicial and law enforcement officials , excessive police harassment of those they perceived could expose them , and flooding our media with their selected biased stooges.

So therefore we should be treating this like a war.

And we should be acting like allies to defeat them.

And no war was ever won by being divided.

      • 1000% Wild Katipo,

NatZ will love to see us all sniping at each other, now that is not “a Government in waiting”

        Cool it out there folks.

  3. ” Willie Jackson – We need to work together to end National”

Why not? Labour and National works together to end New Zealand / Aotearoa.
Is Labour going to muzzle the greedy, fighting, mongrel dogs that are the foreign banks?
Is Labour going to renationalise the assets your Labour took from us back in the 1980’s?
Is Labour going to tax-nail property pimps and stop whoring our lands and houses to bigger foreign money? ( Let me be clear. I’m not bagging ‘foreigners’ here. It’s just that some of them simply have far more money and are better resourced than we are , and that’s not fair while we live and die in the gutters.)

If Labour wants to get all radical to end National then get fucking radical. Offering a slightly larger carrot is not the answer.
I mean… REALLY get radical. As in above. Free electricity to the old and the very young. Pile money into train transport. Create tax exempt ‘ Creativity Zones’ in our dead-in-the-arse rural towns. The ones that flourished prior to neoliberalism. And how about a nice, big, juicy, public inquiry into the affairs of the privateers who most benefited from those sell-offs? Because it wasn’t fucking us @ Willie Jackson.

  4. Yes Willie

“We need to work together to end National”

John Key was and remains a a play actor. A man of the stage. A character. Not a man of truth. Nor of deed .

No matter what the issue was John played the fool. But he always without fail made sure that the wealthy got more and more money. And he was delighted when they contributed in their thousands to the National Party.

So he built no Infrastructure, but opened the gates to flooding immigration.

He provided too little to Health, but he had hundreds of thousands of new people arriving each year of his stewardship.

He chopped Education around like an Italian Spaghetti. Gave brand new Schools to his friends for no cost. Required them to have no qualified teachers. Key was on stage.

He went to the Rugby and stroked Richie McCaw. He looked good doing that.

He deserted the The Pike River Families. Because he did not expect Industry to keep any standards. Standards was not an issue for him or his colleagues.

He promised the sun and the moon, but he gave us hundreds and thousands of homeless; high crime rates; unaffordable rents; unaffordable houses.

He was busy with little girls blonde hair. He cared about that. It gave him pleasure.

He also gave us the weakest Ministers, the least gifted ministers in the history of the New zealand Parliament.

In the end he shovelled Bill English and Paula Bennett onto us. And he buggered off. Leaving one goddamned Hell of national mess.

We all like show man Key. We all like Winston show man Peters.

But Peters has to become real and drop the stage stuff. We have had enough theatre to last us 1,000 years.

We are in the mood for an Honest Intelligent Leader with an intelligent caucus. We won’t know ourselves Willie.

  5. And what does Winston want in return for his heart felt commitment to the Revolution? Minister of Tourism? A few bridges up North?

  6. Great post. Agree 100%. Also think a Labour, Green and NZ First coalition would make a great government. They just need to be adults and manage the relationship – they are more in agreement about most things than disagreement.

Can the politicians manage their ego’s and personal peeves for the sake of winning and the good of the country? One would hope so.

Why I think it is imperative that National are beaten this election, is that they pretend to be a centre party but there actions and policy under the covers is more akin to Trump and a far right party. Look at how they got anti women, pro Trump and anti democracy Peter Thiel citizenship plus the 22 million dollar ‘investment’ he got. That’s the new wing of the National parties dream society, a ruling elite, lots of worker bees working for low cost and a scum underclass who don’t matter. They will co opt a few elite Maori Tories to run to their agenda.

Under another term of the National party, National can promise

NZ will become less affordable to more and more local people being ripped off while paying taxes for the privilege,

Their housing policy will be to sell off more state housing assets on the cheap and pay mates taxpayer dollars to build less houses for more money and sell them off at double what used to be considered affordable. At the same time randomly change zoning to turn land into money while pretending it’s for affordable housing that never gets built.

the environment will be decimated so that some selected private individuals can benefit, aka oil and private water industry,

industry will be encouraged to pollute and NOT adapt to a zero carbon future (which is inevitable) and taxpayers will pay for fake carbon credits while former leading industry will be become dinosaurs on the worlds stage.

the welfare system will be decimated and more and more people pushed into poverty unable to access the benefits which they are entitled to, but denied through complicated avenues to avoid paying out.

At the same time, due to the low wage economy, more and more of the taxes will go to subsidising low wage paying but profitable business like supermarkets and Casinos

National can promise less funding to hospitals and schools in real terms, which will be further decimated by the use of neoliberal style private intermediaries aka Serco, Charter schools, social housing, Spotless type contracts, sucking out the money intended for children and the sick.

Not to mention changing the demographics of NZ through migration that suits National’s agenda to make sure that in spite of people being wage poor, there is a pool of willing migrant workers desperate to work under minimum wages or buy property here to house relatives and use the social services to make the economy into a Ponzi scheme.

National will take over local government and actually any government organisation that does not agree with Nationals rule, whether democratically elected or not.

Further more, National will change the law so that their mates can pay less wages, kill workers with less hassles, Pike river style, and steal resources like water while allowing mining and resource stealing in protected National parks. At the same time will tightly regulate and discriminate against their hated adversaries like teachers and worm farmers.

MSM has kept all this outside of most voters news and analysis so that most voters just don’t understand what National has been up to. They can sense something is wrong but can’t put their finger on it.

The success of the opposition’s campaign might be the reveal of the National party plans and trajectory outcomes…. in the UK once Theresa May started talking about getting rid of human rights law, the middle Brits started getting alarmed.

    • 2000% SAVENZ,

      We need to get these three stooges together in one room to sort their shit and begin again to look like;

      “A GOVERNMENT IN WAITING”

LIKE BACK IN 2015-6 REMEMBER THAT DINNER MEETING AROUND THAT ROUND TABLE?

  7. Labour/Greens & NZF need to get their acts together it is their Election to loose, so they need to stop firing bullets at each other, otherwise another
3 lovely years of the Natzis is to be looked forward to, burying us deeper and deeper into the ground ?

  8. Yes, best to try to keep the moral high ground.

    Difficult with this government!

Especially for those they have targeted for destruction.

    First they came for…

    • To: Jack Ramaka

You are so right when you say : “Labour/Greens & NZF need to get their acts together it is their Election to loose.!”

“It is their Election to loose”

I do hope that Labour/Greens/NZF realise that. Otherwise they will be guilty of Treachery. For the majority of Kiwis have had enough of wealthy showmen.

Willie – please tell Labour/Greens/NZF over and over – it is their Election to loose. !

  9. Seen this folks?

A piece of political history from 9 years ago.

    CENSORED political history!

    Is John Key shonky?

2008 – before the election when John Key became Prime Minister of New Zealand.

My effectively mainstream media ‘censored’ complaints to NZ Police and SFO about John Key’s undisclosed financial interest in TranzRail, followed up with my private prosecution.

All of which received ZERO publicity in the NZ Herald, at the same time when Winston Peters and NZ First we’re getting negative MAN ON THE MOON headlines – to help ensure NZ First did not make the 5% Party vote threshold.

In my view, a VERY clear example of how mainstream media can help convince the voting public to choose the Party / Leader that the majority of BIG business want you to have.

Or NOT vote for the party that BIG business don’t want to be part of ANY coalition government.

As was the case with NZ First and Winston Peters back in 2008.

    FACT.

  10. IF they all keep their EGO’s at bay we can have a very good three way govt. They could all keep each other honest and we could have paradise back. Willie keep telling them all that please.
I can’t cope with the thought they will play into Natz hands by imploding before we go to the polls and I will be in the majority of Kiwis.

  11. This is a con job. Winston refuses to say who he will support after the election. But has always gone with the party with the most seats (National this time).
Safer to vote for a party comitted to changing the Government.
