“The ‘tolerant liberals’ of the Democratic Party believe the WikiLeaks founder damaged the electoral chances of Hillary Clinton last year and now are attacking him – much like the Republicans, Annie Machon, former MI5 intelligence officer, told RT…

“There has always been a sense of inevitability that Congressional Democrats would attempt to impeach and remove Donald Trump from the presidency. Well, it is happening. At this point, it is unlikely this endeavor will succeed, but that isn’t stopping the ‘never Trumpers.’

“Every once in a while, CrossTalk takes a look at the big picture of a story. In this case, it is the Middle East. What are the current defining trends, who are the winners and losers, and how is this volatile and very dangerous region changing? And is American influence on the decline?

  2. …a solution to global warming?

‘”Ready To Blow” – National Geographic’s Guide To The Yellowstone Supervolcano’

    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-07-08/ready-blow-national-geographics-guide-yellowstone-supervolcano

“Amid a growing ‘swarm’ of over earthquakes (now over 1000), and Montana’s largest quake ever, scientists are growing increasingly concerned that the so-called ‘super-volcano’ at the heart of Yellowstone National Park could be building towards a Category 7 eruption. So what is a ‘super-volcano’ and what does its explosion mean for life on earth? NatGeo explains…

…Experts project that such an eruption would dump a layer of volcanic ash that is at least 10 feet deep up to 1,000 miles away, and approximately two-thirds of the United States would suddenly become uninhabitable. The volcanic ash would severely contaminate most of our water supplies, and growing food in the middle of the country would become next to impossible.

In other words, it would be the end of our country as we know it today.

The rest of the planet, and this would especially be true for the northern hemisphere, would experience what is known as a “nuclear winter”. An extreme period of “global cooling” would take place, and temperatures around the world would fall by up to 20 degrees. Crops would fail all over the planet, and severe famine would sweep the globe.

In the end, billions could die.

So yes, this is a threat that we should take seriously.”

  3. Anyone else a bit hacked off with the bland “A Fresh Approach” Labour has carved out.

I am concerned that the small-target don’t-scare-the-horses approach is showing neither Vision nor Ambition. So why would anyone come out for the first time or, dare I say it, switch their vote?

    What Fresh Approach?
And what does that mean exactly?

Let’s Get Busy, or Let’s Get Real, might at least make the difference clear with a National Party that has made a virtue out of inaction and incremental advances for neo-liberalism, while simply pretending to make changes that Labour would have REALLY made.

If we think another $25 is good for poorer families, let’s do it again. And again the year after.

If we think more housing is good, let’s get serious about it.

If we are worried about our most vulnerable kids, or struggling Foster Care providers, or families who have fallen through the cracks, or addicts, or people coming out of prison, or kids without either work or training, or people ripping the country’s water off to sell off-shore, while our own waterways are ever more polluted by run-off, let’s ACTUALLY deal with those things. Pretending isn’t enough any more.

So if there is to be a “Fresh Approach”, let it be a REAL one. And tell us all what it means to have a REALLY “Fresh Approach” to addressing these problems, so the choice between the Left and the Right is ever more stark.
