Duncan Greive vs Gavin Strawhan – 2 bald men fighting over a comb

NZ TV writer Gavin Strawhan has lashed out at Duncan Grieve’s delightfully bitchy and condescending review of Filthy Rich.

With the ever decreasing circle of quality that is NZ TV, they are two bald men fighting over a  comb.

Ultimately the dispute is between two different production cultures from two different generations.

Strawhan represents the boomer production industry who have all become accustomed to obscene State subsidy and enjoy their properties in Herne Bay and have zero intention of having their ‘talents’ and ‘expertise’ charged out at less than $100 an hour.

Greive, as owner of a cash for copy lite entertainment blog, represents millennial and Generation X production industry who does some good work with sweet fuck all.

I’d like this fight to escalate to a death match duel between the two of them.

NZ on Air ultimately have responsibility for this with their bullshit regulations that are built to continue to reward the boomers for their uninspiring schlock. Any new Government coming in wanting to make a serious difference here should start forcing NZ on Air to fund more experimental media and forcing other public broadcasters to platform them.

We have existing public broadcaster media platforms, these should be made to lift their game in terms of supporting new talent.

  1. I’d like this fight to descend to a death match too.
We coyld get Joolie Krusty to produce, direct, script write, gaffer and single handedly film it all.
    They all deserve each other

  2. Sincere apologies i should have said ‘the DAME Joolie Krusty’ (going forward)
A dame ( not in the Casablanca sense) for services to bulls and their excrement. I probably shud feel honoured in her commitment to the cow and buffalo…. just somehow that thing in a stwtson hat doesnt quite convince me.

  3. Btw @Joolie: here’s an idea.
How about a Survivor UP, or PUNJAB, or even HIPPIEDOM Himachal (going forwid).
