I believe vaccinations are good
I don’t believe internal explosions brought down the Twin Towers
I don’t believe fluoridation in water is bad
I don’t believe in chem trails

There are many reasons we should be suspicious of the powerful, making shit up and believing in fucking fairy tales however is not the response to that.

Attacking Dr Lance O’Sullivan for speaking up against this tsunami of hysteria is book burning in its ignorance and attacking his disabled child is fucking despicable.

Dr Lance O’Sullivan heavily criticised on social media after leaping on stage during anti-vax doco screening

The well known Northland doctor who hijacked a controversial screening of an anti-vaccine documentary in Kaitaia has been heavily criticised on social media.

We live in  post-knowledge world. Once upon a time you would have needed to go to University to study for many years the methodology and theory behind scientific hypotheses and how rigorous they need to be to stand up to scrutiny.

In a post-knowledge world where every answer is at the end of a google search, the credibility of that knowledge becomes terribly hollow and meaningless. Having someone who has had no scientific training whatsoever conclude that vaccinations cause autism as if they are a bloody Dr of Biology is just ridiculous.

Yes we should be suspicious of the Pharmaceutical Industry, they are evil price gouging parasites, but to claim they’ve secretly been causing autism via vaccinations does everyone a disservice.

Right now, the biggest threat to all of us is a mass produced food market made toxic by salt, sugar and fat alongside a mass surveillance deep state and a climate that can no longer tolerate the extremes of free market capitalism.

There are monsters in the abyss comrades, but autism caused by vaccinations ain’t one of them.

    • Yeh no further comment needed if you agree with Martyn.
If not watch your comment get put in the bin.

Now Martyn put up my comments and if not state WHY !

      • Now, forgive me Blake, but I’m pretty certain that you declared that you would never be back on this blog ever again after you didn’t get a comment posted here where you were attempted to claim that I was misinformation left wing gate keeper like Noam Chomsky – how come you are back?

        • Martyn, Have the guts to put up my response yesterday to your off topic comment about ” how come you are back ? ”
You seem to not have a clue about why others, like myself , don’t stop by TDB very much nor write much here anymore.
It is your lose and it appears you live, at times, in a la la la
          land of denial and mis-information.

Quick – delete – wouldn’t want anyone to see this one either. Scary stuff indeed.

      • Blake, as Scarlet Mod has pointed out on a gazillion occasions, we’re guests here. We don’t have an automatic right to have anything and everything published. If I wanted to republish the entire contents of Wikipedia here, do you think that would be a fair entitlement??

        • Oh my my so many in denial and wanting to be right and point the finger and limit freedoms.
Sounds like communism a bit to some of us.
The truth is still the truth and much of what some share here is not allowed to be published for the plain and simple reason that egos get exposed and lack of intelligence is brought to light. Narrow mindedness and a lack of supporting freedom of speech is not an admirable trait. Ask Martyn why he refuses to put up my comments ?

Come on ! ! there is still time to put up my two comments / links submitted here today — but then — nah it may be too scary and a bit fearful so lets play it safe. Pity – pity what a snitty – biased journalism controlling what gets out.

Peace growing ; THE TRUTH and love building far outweighs continued war mongering; bickering and ego mania.
Exposing the culprits behind the scenes – that takes guts. The tongue and the pen can be enemies of the spirit.

          • This is essentially a private site. You can comment here only because the owners of the Blog allow you to. I accept it can be frustrating and I muselfe have asked for clarifications on why comments I made don’t appear. However I have never once demanded that they should do so.

            • Gosman – I am demanding nothing other that honest integrity and open freedom of speech. I challenge the ego and stupidity that gets in the way of the truth getting out there to the masses.
Biased journalism is an ugly thing mostly based on immaturity and ignorance. When your comment does not get through, or mine or others do not get through here at TDB, and it is not against any of their rules; then the question begs to be asked –
” What are they afraid of ? ” ” What makes anyone support untruths ? ”
              QUESTIONING ALL AUTHORITY IS A VERY ! ! GOOD ! ! THING.

I keep copies of my comments and those that do not get through.
I ask for their reasoning and receive flimsy, off topic responses.
Watch this one quickly hit the garbage bin.

        • Blake, you’ve linked to an anti-vax conspiracy website. Do you have citations top a credible science-based website?

          • Prissy, get informed about the term Conspiracy Theory and who coined it and why.
It is your choice to buy into the pharmaceutical lying machine.
There are lots of studies and research that do not support willy nilly vaccinations.
Do your own research, or better yet, believe the mis – info that backs vaccines.

Let’s hope that Freedom of Speech grows here at TDB instead of being compromised at times.

            • Blake, I’ve just looked at the first link: https://vactruth.com/2013/09/26/how-pharmaceutical-hide-dangers/

              I read the text. There was no referencing any scientific studies. The commentary was critical of testing procedures, but it was based solely on opinion – no data was presented. For example, this emotive statement was made;

It is interesting to know that the vaccine grows in monkey kidney cells. I wonder what impact this has on our children. In this study, the pharmaceutical company tells us that the experienced side effects can’t be attributed to the polio vaccines, as it was tested by mixing the polio vaccine and then comparing it to the mixture of two other vaccines. This is simply beyond words.

There was no data given and the author – Markus Heinze* – seemed content with simply being critical without explaining what he based his criticism on.

Then I looked for links. The article presented one link: http://www.vaccinesafety.edu/package_inserts.htm.

Not exactly hard data proving the dangers of vaccines.

And that was it. No evidence. No stats. No data. Just a lot of emotive language.

Is that sufficient to prove your case? Ok, let me turn it around; if that article was pro-vaccines, would it have convinced you? I doubt it.

(* Markus Heinze is not a physician nor scientist. He has a “bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northern Kentucky University and a master’s degree in secondary education from Union College”. No formal science training is mentioned.)

            • Your second link is a lengthy piece based on a politician’s views on thimerosal.

              The article makes this claim (amongst others);

More than 500,000 kids currently suffer from autism, and pediatricians diagnose more than 40,000 new cases every year. The disease was unknown until 1943, when it was identified and diagnosed among eleven children born in the months after thimerosal was first added to baby vaccines in 1931.

That is a deliberate misrepresentation of how autism was identified.

              I refer you to a (very) brief history on the syndrome;

Leo Kanner published his first paper identifying autistic children in 1943, asserting he had noticed such children since 1938 (see reference to Kanner, “Autistic Disturbance of Affective Contact”, see Selected Articles section below). Before Kanner noticed and recorded a pattern of symptoms, such children would be classified as emotionally disturbed or mentally retarded. Kanner observed that these children often demonstrated capabilities that showed that they were not merely slow learners, yet they didn’t fit the patterns of emotionally disturbed children. Thus he invented a new category, which he called Early Infantile Autism, which has since sometimes been called Kanner’s Syndrome. Hans Asperger (see section Well Known Researchers and Practicioners and reference to Asperger, “Autistic Psychopathy in Childhood” in Selected Articles section below) essentially made the same discoveries at the same time, independently of Kanner, but the patients he identified all had speech, so the term Asperger’s Syndrome or Asperger Syndrome is often used to label autistic people who have speech.

              ref: http://www.autism-resources.com/autismfaq-hist.html

              And,

Eugen Bleuler, a Swiss psychiatrist, was the first person to use the term. He started using it around 1911 to refer to one group of symptoms related to schizophrenia.

              ref: http://www.webmd.com/brain/autism/what-does-autism-mean#1

So Eugen Bleuler had already identified the syndrome prior to thimerosal being used.

              What’s more, the condition of autism was most likely prevalent before Western medicine identified it. “Identifying” a syndrome does not mean it has not had prior existence. Our medical science and knowledge simply caught up with what nature has thrown at us. (No offense intended to anyone with autism reading this.) For earlier instances, I refer you to this;

A few examples of autistic symptoms and treatments were described long before autism was named. The Table Talk of Martin Luther, compiled by his notetaker, Mathesius, contains the story of a 12-year-old boy who may have been severely autistic.[215] Luther reportedly thought the boy was a soulless mass of flesh possessed by the devil, and suggested that he be suffocated, although a later critic has cast doubt on the veracity of this report.[216] The earliest well-documented case of autism is that of Hugh Blair of Borgue, as detailed in a 1747 court case in which his brother successfully petitioned to annul Blair’s marriage to gain Blair’s inheritance.[217] The Wild Boy of Aveyron, a feral child caught in 1798, showed several signs of autism; the medical student Jean Itard treated him with a behavioral program designed to help him form social attachments and to induce speech via imitation.[218]

              Basic research, Blake.

            • By the way, Blake, the article linked here – http://www.beinghealthynaturally.com/childrenbabyhealth/dangersvaccine.php – references a story surrounding Robert F Kennedy Jr.

The story was first published in Rolling Stone and then republished in 2005 in Salon .

              In January 2011, Salon scrapped the article, publishing this retraction;

              Monday, Jan 17, 2011 11:01 AM NZDT
Correcting our record – We’ve removed an explosive 2005 report by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about autism and vaccines. Here’s why
              – Kerry Lauerman

In 2005, Salon published online an exclusive story by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. that offered an explosive premise: that the mercury-based thimerosal compound present in vaccines until 2001 was dangerous, and that he was “convinced that the link between thimerosal and the epidemic of childhood neurological disorders is real.”

The piece was co-published with Rolling Stone magazine — they fact-checked it and published it in print; we posted it online. In the days after running “Deadly Immunity,” we amended the story with five corrections (which can still be found logged here) that went far in undermining Kennedy’s exposé. At the time, we felt that correcting the piece — and keeping it on the site, in the spirit of transparency — was the best way to operate. But subsequent critics, including most recently, Seth Mnookin in his book “The Panic Virus,” further eroded any faith we had in the story’s value. We’ve grown to believe the best reader service is to delete the piece entirely.

              ref: http://www.salon.com/2011/01/16/dangerous_immunity/

It appears that any “evidence” from anti-vaccine websites not only only fail to provide any form of scientific evidence – but also rely on dubious stories from questionable sources.

          • I just submitted a lengthy reply with links to your comment, Priss, and lets see if it gets through ? ? ? ?
And if it does not get through, lets have the reason why. Yeh right, in the bin it goes. Scary stuff.

            • I asked to have the above short comment without links deleted and it was refused and put up anyway. What gives ? Robots doing the screening ?

[I have no idea what you’re talking about, Blake. I’ve seen no such request. And before you call me a ‘robot’, feel free to come do my housework and look after my kids. This ‘robot’ wouldn’t mind a night off at the movies. – Scarletmod]

  1. Dr O’Sullivan is a gutsy man standing up to the anti-vacs nutters. Those people screech their ignorance loud and hysterically. I pity their poor kids, risking illness or death from wholly tad wholly preventable diseases.

  2. Hear hear! This is a time where critical thinking has never been needed more, yet we wallow in the unsubstantial, the unprovable and the viciously vacuous.

“He’s playing a character. He is a performance artist.”

Randall Wilhite, lawyer for Infowars’ Alex Jones, 2017.

“Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?”

    Johnny Rotten, 1978

  3. You really wonder just what motivates these nutters, did they hot get attention as kids or something. Hopefully natural selection will ultimately dispose of nutters albeit will take a few centuries.

  4. Yep, this enlightenment is up there with Witch burning.

Despite overwhelming evidence that vaccinations work and work well eradicating hideous child killers and crippling disease like Polio, some village idiots still reckon someone they know someone who knows a man who knows this woman whose kid got brain damaged by it. No evidence, no proof, no study, just medieval wishing well shit.

  5. Good piece Martyn. Thanks.

I applaud Dr O’Sullivan for standing up for what he knows and that’s personal experience of children becoming seriously ill and dying of diseases that might have been prevented through vaccination.

Dr Lance O’Sullivan, one of a kind … a true Kiwi leader.

  6. “I don’t believe internal explosions brought down the Twin Towers”

    Very good then.

But what about building 7 ? You know the one right? The third building that fell inside-out in a feint at the sight of its brother and sister building’s, the twin towers, being pulverised into dust after being hit by two passenger jets?
Oh, and lets not forget the passenger jet that hit the Pentagon. The nice, neat little hole and no wreckage to speak of and the site of the crash was buried in asphalt over night?
Scum bags rule the planet and they’d surely be capable of anything. Manipulating the Middle East to create a walking nightmare, but hey ! Profits right? Murdering dictators to legitimise a war of horrors on innocent people who just so happen to live on Yank oil? Remember Halliburton and Donald Rumsfeld and the spoils of a post slaughter Iraq?

I think the next Great War will be fought by weaponised viruses and bacterium’s and delivered to their target audience via drone aircraft thereby leaving roads, buildings, bridges, A/P’ts dock yards, farm lands and waterways un fucked. But how to get R and D feedback on such an endeavour? By making people conventionally sick then dissecting the feedback?
I got the Swine Flu when that show was in town. I got it off a family of Pacific Islanders who spread it about Ch Ch via their Church groups and once the church goers were affected, they went shopping and me being in retails etc. I was fucked, in bed and feeling dreadful for nine days. I had to go to a special clinic built in a disused warehouse thing in an industrial part if Ch Ch and in there, in those scary waiting rooms I was reminded of all the virus-has-escaped disaster movies! It was a bit freaky. Everybody was in hospital gowns and wore masks. I got large pink pills and told to rest. I got really drunk and swallowed hand fulls of good codeine pills and valiums instead. I thought Fuck this ! I’m outa here, I’ll come back when the dust’s settled. If I’m dead? So be it.
The origin of H1N1 was, according to my feeble memory, Mexico City. From Mexico to New Brighton in Christchurch NZ in a heart beat.

Of course I’ll believe vaccinations cause autism. Why the fuck would I not?

Watch this. 20 % of AU super market stock is processed sugar. If you want to live a healthy life into old age don’t eat processed sugar.
    According to this documentary anyway.

    That Sugar FIlm.
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3892434/

But probably a communist plot to deny the 1 % the God given right to gold plate their Lambo’s.

I’m going to go all Vivian Westwood here and say the only thing I’ll believe in is what my eyes tell me, thank you very much anyway and good night.

    • Countryboy, you “belierve” vaccines cause autism? When did belief replace empirical evidence?

    • “Of course I’ll believe vaccinations cause autism. Why the fuck would I not? “

Oh, I dunno, lack of evidence, Countryboy??

If I told you I believe in pixies in my rose bush, would that make it real?

  7. The term anti-vaxx is generalised and inaccurate.

Vaccinations are a particular type of drug, used as a precautionary measure.

Some vaccinations have an immense impact on health, depending on the ailment, the location and the access to health care.

Some vaccinations are elective – chicken pox, malaria (for going overseas) etc.

Some also raise legitimate concerns about post-vaccination screening by those vaccinated, eg. Gardasil.

The name-calling of those with whom you disagree almost never leads to meaningful exchange.

    • Well put, exactly the point the “all-vax, all-the-time” lobby is trying to whitewash with their hysterical exaggerations. Very few people smeared as “anti vaxxers” believe something as stupid as “vaccines cause autism”. Of course that has been disproven, as if anyone was every trying to assert that point.
But there are serious concerns about the changes in the schedule, the ease of getting on to the schedule, the efficacy odf many new vacs, the changes in composition, the bundling of unnecessary vaxes with old reliable; that’s even before you get to the fact that some children have had severe reactions, death and disability, and yet there is next to no support or acknowledgement of these parents’ plights. Often peer reviewed assertions “No evidence that it was caused…” Yet the entire system is held up as beyond reproach. They can not bear to be questioned. The only boat that does not rock.

And that’s just in the first world.

Vaccine science as theory is solid. Vaccine products are something else, and they are subject to all the institutional corruption and groupthink and arrogance that is decaying every other sector of Western society in its thrall to global capitalism.

      • PB;

“Vaccine science as theory is solid. Vaccine products are something else, and they are subject to all the institutional corruption and groupthink and arrogance that is decaying every other sector of Western society in its thrall to global capitalism.”

        Very well put.

        Cheers.

  8. Frankly I believe we are over vaccinating the population.
The theory when we were growing up was to mingle with those with infectious diseases to obtain a solid immunity prior to adulthood rather than suffer the serious complications that could arise from having these diseases in later life. The Triple Vaccine and the Sabin vaccine was our lot.
Also the majority of babies were breastfed and as a result developed natural immunity, we ate healthier diets and had more active lifestyles. We did not require the huge selection of vaccines then, and we don’t need them now.

Today the Triple vaccine appears to have morphed into 5 or 6 vaccines in one injection for babies with at least a dozen more to follow as they grow. In America children are receiving thirty five vaccines before school and some doctors are administering nine in a single visit.
Is there a pattern emerging in NZ in our ever increasing numbers of vaccines being inflicted on our kids?

There have been experiments that show that excesses of vaccines can cause chronic inflammation of the brain leading to abnormal functioning.

Let’s not forget that all Western countries banned pharmaceutical advertising to consumers except NZ and the States and recently there appears to be a lot of pressure being put on at least half the population to update the flu vaccine annually. Marketing is extended to calling homes to check whether you should be shuffling down to your friendly Doc for your flu jab.

My elderly mother stopped getting the flu each year when she gave up her annual flu vaccine.

As for Mr O’Sullivan, no we are not going down the road like his American colleagues in making vaccines mandatory . I have seen footage of many parents being arrested, having their children forcibly removed and having their vaccines administered, or being expelled until they comply.

All parents want what’s best for their children. This I hope, is still a country where your opinion is not the only one that should be heard. Clearly a lot of parents don’t have faith in the current vaccination regimen. What should be mandatory is for all GP’s to read out loud to all parents the small print which states all the side effects of each particular vaccine prior to administration . Also provide them evidence that increasing the number of vaccines administered at one time will not increase their chances of complications such as brain disorders.

Maybe if we gave vaccines only for the most serious of diseases as in the pre 90’s period and focused on educating the public how to live healthy lives and thus improve their immunity systems naturally they would be receptive to embrace a preventative regime, but, of course, this will mean less visits to the doctor and plummeting profits for Big Pharma.

As a footnote my dog reacted badly to the 4 vaccines I was told he required annually. On investigating this with a vet who provides alternative treatments, I learned that only 3 of them were required 4 yearly and that severe reactions could be avoided by separate administration spaced out over a few weeks. Proved to be right.

      • Andrew Jeremy Wakefield (born 1957)[1][2] is a British former gastroenterologist and medical researcher who was struck off the UK medical register for his fraudulent 1998 research paper, and other proven charges of misconduct, in support of the now-discredited claim that there was a link between the administration of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine, and the appearance of autism and bowel disease.[3][4][5][6][7]

After the publication of the paper, other researchers were unable to reproduce Wakefield’s findings or confirm his hypothesis of an association between the MMR vaccine and autism,[8] or autism and gastrointestinal disease.[9] A 2004 investigation by Sunday Times reporter Brian Deer identified undisclosed financial conflicts of interest on Wakefield’s part,[10] and most of his co-authors then withdrew their support for the study’s interpretations.[11] The British General Medical Council (GMC) conducted an inquiry into allegations of misconduct against Wakefield and two former colleagues.[12] The investigation centred on Deer’s numerous findings, including that children with autism were subjected to unnecessary invasive medical procedures such as colonoscopies and lumbar punctures,[13] and that Wakefield acted without the required ethical approval from an institutional review board.

      • You’re quoting a known fraudster who used bogus test results to back up your anti-vax beliefs? Weird shit, Red.

If you and other anti-vaxxers want to put your children at risk, so be it. I have an issue though with you peddling your mumbo-jumbo to the general public and putting innocent people at risk.

This might be of interest to some of you if your minds aren’t entirely closed,

        =====

Ian Williams is a smart guy – a scientist, an inventor, a businessman – but when it came to son Alijah’s health he dismissed science and behaved like a “hippy”, creating a situation where Alijah almost died.

“Blood is dripping from his mouth and he is saying ‘save me daddy’,” Williams told the Sunday Star-Times.

“I was holding the hand of my kid who had an arched back, the muscles could break his bones at any second, and his heart could stop.”

Alijah was hospitalised with tetanus late last year; something he should have been immunised against, something Williams and his wife Linda decided not to do.

It was a painful lesson. They watched as seven-year-old Alijah spent three weeks in hospital, his body violently and painfully convulsing as tetanus attacked his nervous system. “When it came to my kid’s health, I let the hippy win. I should have let the science win.”

And it’s not as if Williams is unfamiliar with science. He has a science degree and he’s turning his invention, the WilliamsWarne homebrew machine, into a global success.

He’s not stupid. If anything, he was just a little bit too smart for his own good.

The Williams are the one in 10 parents who opt out when it comes to vaccination, not out of ignorance, but because they think they know everything. Williams said they believed they’d done their research but now admits they were out of their depth.

“Parents like us make the decision to not vaccinate on very little factual information about the actual consequences of the diseases.”

He also says they fell for the myths and conspiracies that pepper the internet. The Williams downloaded information from the internet and underestimated the diseases while over-estimating the risks of the vaccine reactions. About one in one million will suffer a bad reaction to the tetanus vaccine – such as painful nerve inflammation – while Alijah had a one in 10 chance of dying from tetanus.

Others have not been so lucky. A three-year-old unimmunised child died during the ongoing whooping cough epidemic last year. He should have been vaccinated by the time he was crawling.

    • Apply the old axiom ” Who Profits”.

The start looking for in depth information rather than statements and reductionist narrow findings.

Read both sides of the story and research the history and associations of the claimants.

The 911 fiasco conspiracy claim about 19 Arabs and hijacking is full of holes but was published loud and clear so sticks.

The majority just believe what authority figures tell them and that ruse is used with impunity.

Independent analysis without profit or connection with advantage is always worth a glance.

The evidence for flu shots being effective is not without much controversy.

67% of health research papers funded by corporates are withheld from publication – findings of two UK Universities surveying UK and US research..

That is after corporate funding assess the benefits for them at every step of the way.

So much of health research is channelled into what may be used for profit and even then results are selectively censored.

Its all connected with a for profit empire.

Open independent intellectual enquiry in health is rare and generally unfunded.

        • There is abundant evidence is there in two forms.

Hard science leaving little room for the official story and the “official” inquiry being full of holes and promoting myths without substance.

Do spend a little time researching both sides.

Understanding some simple physics and gravity will help.

You must have had a chance to at least look at this.

          http://www.ae911truth.org/

        • Clearly you do not know what the term
          Conspiracy Theory means ?
Look into its origin and why it was coined and by whom.

    • So we’re “over vaccinated”, Jax? My question to you is how many children should die before you think we should vaccinate.

I don’t mind if you forego vaccination. Good luck with that. Do you also not wash your hands? Perhaps we wash our hands too much as well?

But I do mind when kids are denied that protection. I mind that very much.

    • “As for Mr O’Sullivan, no we are not going down the road like his American colleagues in making vaccines mandatory . I have seen footage of many parents being arrested, having their children forcibly removed and having their vaccines administered, or being expelled until they comply. “

Why wouldn’t you vaccinate, your children, Jax? Are you so blinded by bogus “science” and conspiracy theories that you’d put your children’s health at risk??

If you waited till your children became seriously ill through lack of immunisation ., would you then take them to hospital??

What is the point of putting children at risk through whooping cough, dipheria, polio, measles, chick pox, etc because of unsubstantiated bogus claims by anti-vaccers??

If you don’t want to be vaccinated, you’re an adult and can make that call for yourself. But not kids. They can’t differentiate between real science and bogus “science”.

People who put their children at risk because of rubbish they read on the internet should be ashamed of themselves.

  9. So, if vaccines aren’t the cause of Autism .. what is?
As a Parent who vaccinated my kids I cant understand the fury towards parents that choose not to, after all my kids are vaccinated so they will be ok in the event of an outbreak of whatever right?

    • Autism is caused by frontal lobe malformation/damage. So say brain damage from a difficult birth or genetic susceptibility -or something else. That the MMR vaccination coincides with a time of great brain rearrangement is just that, a coincidence. The paper used to support the vaccine/autism link was proved BULLSHIT – the Dr who presented it admitted to it. Parents have every right to not vacinate their kids but NO right to push this autism bollocks.

      • No one knows what causes autism yet, that’s BS.

What autism looks like in the brain is a different matter. The best thing they can say so far is that autistic brains have more folds. But more folds does not mean autism.

        • There is a theory that autism is caused by administering antibiotics to children n the first years of life.

          • Really, Mikesh, “there’s a theory”?

Well, pickle me, there’s a theory that the world is flat. What’s your call on that??

If there is such a “theory”, who is promoting it, and what research has been done to look into it.

            Otherwise it’s not a theory, it’s gossip.

    • No the unvaccinated children will get tje diseases and possibly die and spread the diseases back into the community.
You need 95% or more of the community vaccinated to cover for tbose people who cannot tolerate the vaccines for whtever resons.

    • A particular vaccination teaches a person’s body how to respond if they should ever come in contact with the microbe that causes the corresponding disease.

But people are so amazingly variable that a person’s system might
      1) not have learned well enough after a vaccination how to fight the disease or
      2) have partially forgotten how to fight the disease or
      3) they are currently immune compromised so that their system can’t battle the microbe well enough,
and they get some aspects of the disease and/or become carriers of the disease.

Because people can’t tell if they are in groups 1 or 2, it does matter if vaccinations rates aren’t high, even for the vaccinated.

  10. There is a little issue called “Freedom of Speech” that seems to have been forgotten. It seems we have a vaccine Nazi who thinks his views should have precedence over everyone else. These parents have no right to look at both sides of the story. The good Doctor has the right to browbeat and intimidate these lesser beings. As a high Priest of Medicine his word ,his utterances should be accepted without question!Pompous Plonker comes to mind!

    • Free speech is not like proptery rights because my free speech does not interfere with your free speech. But if I own land then we are different because I have it and you don’t.

So free speech does not preclude venue operators from excluding some one from exercising freedoms of expression. It is venue organisers who excersise restraints over freedoms of expression.

  11. Not content with the increasing gap between rich and poor and the descent into 3rd world status for many, the anti-vaxxers are now intent of re-introducing 3rd world disease.
Obviously none have actually seen people with polio, or TB.
I get flu injections and have had side effects. I know of people who’ve had side effects from newly introduced treatments for Hep C – one even described it as a year-long battle with PMT – thankfully she is now clear. And yet another who is now clear (both resulting from the policies of that bastion of the National Party of the time – Simon bloody Upton. I doubt he’d ever seen a sufferer of polio either)
And then there’s some silly cnut above raving on about/referring to Gardasil.
In the spirit of individualism and ‘choice’ – how about we do what I was once told the French do (not sure if it’s true or not).
If you have a heart attack and require a stent or bypass, and you continue to smoke ….. you’re on your own and you can pay for your own treatment.
And further still, if it’s a known infectious disease, you can pay for the treatment of anyone (including funeral expenses) that its proven you are the cause of infection.
We do it with HIV positive people who infect others and who haven’t declared their status – how about it?

Christ! This country really is intent on a descent into the 3rd World. But guess what, I’ll be over in the 3rd World set up as Fat Freddy if there isn’t a change come September

    • well well maybe Dr lance would like to explain to the family I know whose perfectly healthy 18 month old child had his vaccinations one afternoon was put to bed by his parents and passed away that night that this is merely a co-incidence. Maybe Dr Lance would like to explain to the family I know in Australia who took there perfectly healthy child in for a flu vaccination and now the child requires 24 hr care.
I f people choose not to vaccinate their children against non life threatening conditions please have the courtesy to accept their right to do so. Why would a baby need to be vaccinated against Hep, in my household the chance of a baby catching hep is pretty low.
I could go on but how about just accepting my right to make a choice just as I accept your right to make a different choice.
Are drug companies really interested in the good health of people again I may have a different view from you. I am pretty sure my view of what drives drug companies need for spreading the vaccination mantra is not the improvement of the general populations health

      • If this film was expausing the MMR causes autism line – he’s got every right to. The Dr who put this forward BULLSHITTED. However I also had a guy a primary school who was brain damaged from an adverse reaction to a vaccination.

    • If reducing the spread of disease was the aim, then constricting international travel would be the number one weapon.

    • “And then there’s some silly cnut above raving on about/referring to Gardasil.”
Lucky for you I have a feminine handle, else you might be reduced to a non-sexist insult.

Raving? Well, considered thought as opposed to your stream-of-consciousness typing, might be offensive to some. I looked into Gardasil when it was first proposed. Cervical cancer, if caught early is almost 100% successfully treated. Gardasil, effective on two-four of the many hundreds of HPV in the cervix, is administered with the proviso that you continue your regular smear tests.

If you are a female, who has undergone this procedure, you know it is one that you would avoid as long as possible. If you now think that you are vaccinated against cervical cancer, then you might even delay overlong or omit smears altogether.

Which begs the question? Why have the vaccine at all, when cervical cancer is caused by more than those HPV that are vaccinated against, and may even mean that treatment is delayed because women have not picked up abnormal cells at an earlier stage.

The first rollout of Gardasil was about $39 million, IIRC. Then a second rollout was done, and now I believe it is going to be freely available to young men.

This is not about individualism and ‘choice’, it is a discussion about coercion and forced medical treatment. Name it what you will, the fundamental discussion is about those human rights.

The benefits of the polio vaccine is without doubt, easily observed. But that benefit does not necessarily follow for every vaccine product that is produced. It is particularly naiive to think it does.

      • Apologisde Molly – in other comments I’ve said: “cnut, or if you prefer dickhead”. If you feel offended – please substitute “cnut” for “dickhead”.

and in future – if I’m tempted to use terminology in common use, I might even say “Dickhead [first] or if you prefer Cnut [second]” just to be an equal opportunity pratt.

Taking offence these days is becoming of industrial proportions. ‘Little Britain’ anyone?

I’m pleased that once upon a time the LGBTI(Q)XYZ community had the good sense to adopt the word “gay” and put it into common use – effectively fucking it as a term of derision – even though there are now new attempts to use it in that way – such as “that’s SO gay”. Those attempts are the problem – not the words that are used. They’re the intent behind a Key’s use – worried about his son’s identity (as if he’s entitled to that concern – considering Mex is an Airdolt in ‘his own roit’ going forward)

Water off a duck’s crack amongst those that refuse to be bullied who (it seems) might be a bit like you.

Knowing the difference between the casual use of terminology and the intent that comes with WHEN and HOW it’s used, also now seems to have become something that those looking for a way to be offended is the new art form.
(I’m offended by all those complete fucking fukwits that feel the need to begin everything with “So………” [NO, it ain’t necessarily ‘SO’], or that muppett Blinglish that can’t seem to open his gob without a ‘pre’ “Well….” [often pronounced “Wow”]. (And Blinglish, Soimon-skollshupp-resupyint-10- Brijiss, Pulla Bent [I prefer not to mention moi pussed – before the 10 brujizz oi been buzzy pulling them up]. Pulla Bent – the dickhead. Soimon Brujizz the cnut.
CHRIST! (now that’s interesting in and of itself!). Let’s start on a discussion of Bull’s Catholicism.

In my comment, I was more interested in the visuals of that lady (oops …. Miss, Ms, Mrs, female – I can’t really assume or be sure) whose rage at Lance was accompanied by Trump-style hand waiving and finger pointing – aside from the attempts at shouting down his attempts to express a view.
He/She/It is his/her/its own worst enema.

For me, what is really sad is that all these distractions are designed to limit debate, trade in the character of people who are expressing their individualistic egos (going forward), often looking for the 15 minutes, etc. – WHILST we have all this complete kaka above from some -trying on trite old arguments like ‘freedom of fucking speach’, etc. THAT is neo-liberal in its intent and its agenda, and its cancerous – working as unintentionally designed.

I think I know that you’re not really offended, but if you are – either substitute cnut for dickhead, or alternatively go get fucked.
I won’t start on the mysogeny that comes with MALE (i.e. those that posess balls and a dik, as opposed to a cnut) in that LGBTI(Q)XYZ ‘community’ (and even the need to use ‘L..etc. community’ I FIND offensive – but that’s my fuckn problem).

No. that finger-pointing kinsprissy-thereiss silly bitch/dikhead/cnut ranting and attempting to shout at Lance Whatshisname whose kuds are obviously ‘her bess frenz’ needs to widen her horizons.

Christ this has been a distraction

      • Actually Molly, I need to apologise again because I began the /rant on the basis of the first few lines of your comment without reading further (the hazards of soshul media eh?). Actually I was unconcerned what associations that come with your handle determined my perceptions of what your agenda was. Just call me possum if you like.
I agree with you as to Gardasil in as much as delay it as long as you can. But I also have an ex-wife who has suffered/battled cervical cancer 3 times – i.e. – well you might know the drill, but she now has a compoletely fucked immune system – so maybe I have a prejudice in that regard.
Then there is the issue with males and anal warts and all that kaka that goes with it.

But also – re my previous – what shits me are the distractions – especially when we’re actually dealing with the lives of personhood and community

        • “I agree with you as to Gardasil in as much as delay it as long as you can. But I also have an ex-wife who has suffered/battled cervical cancer 3 times – i.e. – well you might know the drill, but she now has a compoletely fucked immune system – so maybe I have a prejudice in that regard.”
I had to read through a lot of noise to get here.

And it sounds like we might have the beginnings of a conversation there.

Do you think that the current vaccination schedule for Gardasil would have impacted on your wife’s health (which I hope is in a good place now?)
Current vaccination programme – IIRC – is for 12 – 18 year old females, many of whom will not be sexually active.

The immunity given by the vaccination is estimated to be less than six years, ie. the 12 year old will no longer be protected by the vaccine at 18 when she is more likely to have sexual partners.

The issue, over the need to continue regular smears to me is a major one. As you have had the misfortune to experience, the earlier diagnosis and treatment of abnormal cells leads to better outcomes.

I used to pay a $25 fee for a better indicative test when I went in for the smear. Unfortunately, the situation with the incorrect lab results most likely negated any benefit from that cost. I would have really liked to see that Gardasil vaccine programme money go into better smear test, and responsive treatments.

I don’t think the target cohort and benefits are worth the multi-million dollar costs, given the limited immunity and the more useful benefit of having regular cervical smears to keep a careful eye on any personal changes.

  12. I don’t believe in chem trails
I will go with my doctor regarding vaccinations.
I will go with my dentist regarding fluoride.
I will go with 2876 Architects and Engineers regarding the destruction of the Twin Towers. http://www.ae911truth.org/

    • 99.999%

At least the evidence well tested and presented, is straight forward and backed by thousands of independent scientists and experts – not politicians and their appointees.

Who would ever believe what the US administration says anyway.

    • So next time you cut yourself in the garden, Helena, will you go to Dr O’Sullivan for a tetanus vaccination? Or drink hot lemon tea? Your call.

I don’t mind adults foregoing vaccinations. It’s a silly thing to do, but they can make that choice. (And if you want to die from tetanus, go for it.)

Kids can’t. They rely on us to keep them safe. Anti-vaccine voodoo “science” isn’t keeping them safe, it’s subjecting them to polio, tetanus, whooping cough, rubella, mumps, chick pox, etc.

      • I cut myself recently with a clean Stanley knife inside the house. When I presented at the ER I was asked three times to get a tetanus shot twice, by the doctor and once by a nurse. At this the whole vaccination industry lost any strain of credibility it ever had.
You don/t need to be a rocket scientist to see some issue here do you.
I tried to explain to the doctor that the tetanus virus comes from soil but he didn’t actually acknowledge my point????
Makes you wonder sometimes what so called intelligent people are thinking

    • Lets be Frank. Its undeniable big pharma over-prescribes medicine and under-prescribes and miss-price medicine. Its undeniable and institutional. When you stop asking why then science stops and terrible things are possible.

    • Helena, I am very surprised your comment got through. My two comments today with links were not inflammatory nor insulting in any way and yet Martyn refused to allow them through. Let us all be ethically notorious and truthful and do not succumb to prejudice, ignorance and biased beliefs. You can still do the right thing Martyn; Prissy and Scarlet etc.

  13. “…..making shit up and believing in fucking fairy tales……..’
Good that you root for science . Even if rather bluntly.
And good to know the list of ‘fairy tales’ you ‘believe’ or ‘don’t believe’ in.
Although, what has ‘belief’ to do with the science of physics?
Conservation of momentum, and all that?
I can’t argue vaccinations. Not my field. Nor chem-trails. I haven’t researched them -Altho I think its called ‘Geoengineering’ or ‘Stratospheric Aerosol Injection’ (SAI) and that nice man from CIA BRENNAN thinks its spiffing to’fight global warming’ so what could go wrong.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmQMTfila7I

    But I have researched 911.
    That was demolition.
    Not a ‘belief.’
    A demolition !

    #1 boom #2 boom #7 boom.

  14. My child was a perfectly normal one day then at 18 months seem to change. Yes, he has Asperger. Unfortunately he also had a completely disorganized mother so he didn’t get his MMR till he was 3 years. As my daughter says “just cause it’s a coincidence doesn’t make it a coinsidink.”so don’t be a dult to an anecdolt”.

    • It seems like unfortunately he has a completely disorganised father who didn’t get him his MMR vaccination till he was 3 years old.

      • well actually maybe the child was lucky he was not vaccinated as a tiny baby or in utero …the results could have been far more dire

    • But you still post here, Robert. Perhaps you should go to Whaleoil and enjoy their company.

    • Roberts, I agree and disagree with you. There are some intelligent and conscientious commenters at TDB, some have left, and there are some fine contributors here writing some good pieces that we respond to. The failure of TDB is that there are a few in the ruling ranks who have some clear and obvious biases and refuse to put up many comments and links that disagree with their mostly mis-led beliefs and stuck egos. It remains shocking to me how they can be so pro-vaccine and pro-flouradation and seem to buy what the Pharmaceutical propaganda research and nonsense affirms. Dr. Perfect Lance is no saint.

Many of my comments and links do not get through often because, I feel, there is a misunderstanding of what the term – ” Conspiracy Theory ” really means and why it was coined and now being mis-used to discredit the truth speakers. It is scary, for some, sometimes to face truths that are hard to swallow and challenge ego based beliefs and question the corporate lies ; madness and corporate drug/vaccine lies and greed. Let the asleep, stay asleep.
So this comment will likely be put in the bin as well. Most links that are anti-vaccination are not allowed through and this is sad as FREEDOM OF SPEECH is a precious thing and at times it is trashed and manipulated here at TDB when you would think it should never be compromised here at all.

      • It remains shocking to me how they can be so pro-vaccine and pro-flouradation and seem to buy what the Pharmaceutical propaganda research and nonsense affirms.

Blake, I find that remark offensive.

I spend hours, well into the early mornings, researching the stories I write. I look at research, data, statistics, and put them together in a (hopefully) coherent story. I rely on as much evidence as I can discover from books, internet, media sources, etc.

I do not rely on people accepting my propositions based purely on opinion, without corroborating evidence.

I think the very least you can do is offer us the same courtesy. If my pro-vaccine views are wrong, I expect you to show me the evidence. And by evidence, I do not mean linking to conspiracy websites that then link to other conspiracy websites which then link, ad nauseum. Show us the science. Then we can all consider the data and review our positions.

        • I feel, you place far too much emphasis of scientific research and ill – informed scientific data when it is now widely known that much scientific data and proclamations are manipulated and bought and lied about by those very entities that fund the research.

MDs and researchers are getting murdered regularly who want to get the truths out that these greedy and unethical industries want hidden.

Every day some scientific ” fact ” is being proven wrong and isn’t it clear that much science is backed and funded by the very industries that need the specific data outcome to support their poisons they want to profit from. They fund these research projects and they much invested in the data outcome.

I always and always will QUESTION AUTHORITY especially
when it comes to the health and well-being of all living things.
I do not mean to offend you in any way Frank, I just do not place as much value and confidence in scientific research and data as you do.

          • I feel, you place far too much emphasis of scientific research and ill – informed scientific data when it is now widely known that much scientific data and proclamations are manipulated and bought and lied about by those very entities that fund the research.

In that case, what is the anti-vaccine argument predicated on?!?!

I always and always will QUESTION AUTHORITY…

Nothing wrong with that whatsoever, Blake. However, I feel the anti-vaccine ‘movement’ is far more than merely questioning. It advocates. That is a significant difference.

But I concur with you: questioning should be first and foremost for everything.

I do not mean to offend you in any way Frank, I just do not place as much value and confidence in scientific research and data as you do.

And yet, Blake, the research I’ve seen and done indicates clearly that neo-liberalism has failed in it’s promises (except for the top 1%) and practically every indicator, based on stats and data, confirms it. God knows ACT and National supporters have tried to convince me otherwise – but the facts don’t support their position.

Interestingly, the unemployments stats from Statistics NZ are of dubious value – but only because Stats NZ has revealed that they have arbitrarily ‘fudged’ the parameters. Therefore, the evidence suggests that (a) unemployment stats are not accurate and (b) unemployment is higher than the current 4.9%.

But it took research to uncover that fact. Simply saying “Stats NZ is wrong” doesn’t cut the mustard, if you get my meaning.

Anyway, I have a story to work on – actually three – so I’ll leave you to it.

    • It appears your post has closed down the hysteria of the pro ‘ lets vaccinate everyone for everything we have vaccines for’ brigade’.
The most significant contraindication in the long list is DEATH which may have something to do with it .

Blind faith in the medical profession is harmful to your health.

A couple of decades ago a visit to your GP would involve taking your vital signs, asking you to describe your symptoms and more often than not ordering a diagnostic blood test after which appropriate treatment would be prescribed.

Today you can wait up to an hour in a room full of people violating the
the air you breathe with their toxic droplet infectious coughs and sneezes , lucky to make it out of there without succumbing to a dose yourself. Isolation areas for infectious patients are clearly a thing of the past.

When you enter the surgery instead of health posters, you will see advertisements for every new drug available courtesy big Pharma. Displaying these gives a kickback to our noble healers.

Whilst you are explaining your symptoms, Doc is typing and ‘voila’ there it is, the diagnosis and drug regime and often without any patient examination you are ushered out with a list of drugs that will see you hail and hearty. The most important aspect of the visit is explaining what the medications are for, how to take them and what side effects to look out for but the crowded waiting room does not allow for this.

With health services being stretched and public health education being non existent , never has it been more important for the public to question and debate issues that affect their lives without being disparaged and silenced.

      • Well, Jax, if you don’t want to vaccinate yourself, that’s your call. You can understand the consequences of not vaccinating and leaving yourself open to bacterial or viral infection. But kids don’t understand those issues and not vaccinating them is akin to a form of child abuse through neglect. You wouldn’t ignore a child with cancer, so why leave them open to other disease?

There is zero evidence that vaccinations are harmful. I understand this because NONE of the anti-vax websites offer any medical evidence whatsoever. What they do offer is quoting each other in a kind of circular logic. Plus a few of them are selling their own quack “medicines”, so anti-vaccers have their own vested interests.

It’s no coincidence that anti-vaccers believe in other conspiracies (9/11, Moon landing “hoax”, etc). It’s an issue of neo-religious belief in an age of gullibility. A dangerous mix.

I wish you luck if you ever cut yourself in the garden. Tetanus is not a nice way to go.

        • Is the hysterical outrage because you are deliberately misconstruing differing opinion in order to intimidate or are you just plain stupid ?
My post clearly states that I believe we are OVER vaccinated You can see that I believe that the Triple Antigen and the Polio Sabin vaccinations which we were given right up to the 90’s were adequate because we developed immunities for chicken pox, mumps and measles by actually contracting these as young kids. This was also the case for my kids.

Triple Antigen included Diptheria, Tetanus and Whooping Cough so stop with the crazy rants please about what I would do if I contracted Tetanus. These vaccines were given 3 times over a year i.e 3 vaccines in 1 injection plus an oral dose of Polio ( Sabin).

Today at 6 weeks babies get 6 vaccines in 1 injection plus oral Rotavirus and 1 injection for Pneumococcal. This is 8 vaccines in one go and repeated at 3 months and 5 months.
This is 24 Vaccines before they are 6 months old.
At 4 they have another 7 vaccines. This is a total of 31 vaccines before school !!
Many of them are given in one hit which I believe is criminal.
How do you think a little body can cope being overwhelmed by this number of toxins ? How do you imagine their immune systems will cope ?

          See the schedule below.

          http://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/preventative-health-wellness/immunisation/new-zealand-immunisation-schedule

So I put the question to you. Why would you subject your kids to this when clearly there is plenty of evidence to suggest that serious adverse reactions, including infant mortality, from over vaccinating, is well documented regardless of whether you believe it to be fake .

If you still wish to exercise your right to stick with the current schedule, I will respect that so please respect my concerns and beliefs in what I consider best for my family.
What I do know is that there were few serious adverse affects from the vaccine regime I described prior to the 90’s compared to the number and variety of reactions that are reported today.

Frank, your attack on Robert is again ill informed. There are numerous contraindications for many vaccines and the list he presented will be accurate if it is like the one I have included below for your perusal.
As you will see it starts off as a list of minor symptoms until you get to the end where the word Anaphylaxis appears which is a severe allergic reaction with sudden onset and can lead to death within minutes or hours.

Vaccine facts sheet for Hepatitis B

          http://www.rxlist.com/recombivax-side-effects-drug-center.htm

          • That link was to one vaccine, Jax.

By the way, without the vaccine or treatment, the side-effects from Hepatitis B are death from cirrhosis and liver cancer.

So the list of possible side-effects from the vaccine pale by comparison.

Which would you rather have, a sore throat from the vaccine – or Hep B causing death from cirrhosis and liver cancer?

            I’d still like to see the source for the rest of Robert’s list of conditions are caused by vaccines. Especially these three;

            “Gulf War Syndrome”?

            “Autism Spectrum “?

            “Bipolar disease”?

I know of no vaccine that would cause any of those three conditions. (There are others on Robert’s list that I question, but these three are good examples.)

If your cause is so vital, you should be able to prove us with the source and the evidence.

          • Jax, try going to a Third World country without your vaccination shots. See how far you get. (And make your your life insurance policy is all paid up.)

          • Jax, try going to a Third World country without your vaccination shots. See how far you get. (And make your your life insurance policy is all paid up.)…..

      • Whilst you are explaining your symptoms, Doc is typing and ‘voila’ there it is, the diagnosis and drug regime and often without any patient examination you are ushered out with a list of drugs that will see you hail and hearty.

I’m not sure where your primary care is obtained from, Jax, but that does not describe my doctor in the slightest.

When I went for a diagnosis for my diabetes type 2, I was examined. The consultation was considerable. Amongst the prescription for medicine was advice for changing my diet for more veges, fruit, protein, and cutting out processed foods, sugar, fruit juices (loaded with fructose) and excessive processed carbs.

I’ve lost 20kgs. I’m fitter. I’m not as tired as I used to be. I’ll live longer, so you will all be happly inflicted with my blogposts for a wee while yet. (I do miss my custard squares, chocolate, and apple pies, but.)

I’ve yet to see all the “advertisements for every new drug available courtesy big Pharma” in my doctor’s waiting room. Maybe agents from Big Pharma haven’t caught up with my doc yet?

      • Rejecting vaccination is a form of anti-science. It would be laughable except that the lives of infants are at stake. The fact that so many strident anti-vaccers are also conspiracy theorists and ufo buffs says plenty about their precarious state of mind.

I wonder how many anti-vaccers would survive a year in a third world country with no preventative vaccinations against diseases rampant in those country. It’s a shame we can’t put it to the test, eh?

    • “Gulf War Syndrome”?

      “Autism Spectrum “?

      “Bipolar disease”?

I’d like to see the “inserts ” that listed those conditions, Robert.

Because doing a quick research, you have simply re-posted your post from a Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/mackenzie.s.fraser/posts/10154290521218893

The Facebook poster does not supply citations either.

You have illustrated with crystal clarity why I view anti-vaccination adherents with suspicion. Re-posted un-verified claims without any fact-checking suggests fake information.

If this is the best you can offer by way of evidence, you have done your cause a dis-service.

    • Well, Andrew, you’d be wrong. But that’s not surprising for someone of your low analytical skills.

  16. You believe vaccinations are good
You don’t believe internal explosions brought down the Twin Towers
You don’t believe fluoridation in water is bad
You don’t believe in chem trails
You do believe that global warming is due to CO2
    You do oppose TTP

4 down, 2 to go! Well, its progress at least!

What’s your position on UFO’s and the Kennedy assassination?;)

  17. I didn’t see a comment criticizing Chris Trotter again. No idolization of Martyn, except for his drive, hence this theatre. I enjoy the comments sections here, where other-where ‘letters to the editor’ rightly draw rolls of the eyes and sighs. The match of expression and communication is apexical. Literature almost.

  18. As long as so called “doctors” keep claiming that saturated fats are bad and carbohydrates are good in the face of a global obesity/diabetes epidemic caused ENTIRELY by excessive consumption of carbohydrates I’m taking everything “medical experts” say with a grain of salt.

  19. I’m with Martyn on this 100%;

    I believe vaccinations are good
I don’t believe internal explosions brought down the Twin Towers
I don’t believe fluoridation in water is bad
I don’t believe in chem trails

    I also accept the following;

    1. Anthropogenic climate change is very much real

    2. Neo-liberalism is severely flawed

I do not “believe” in anthropogenic climate change, nor do I “believe” that neo-liberalism is flawed.

I do, however, accept the accumulated evidence from scientists who are trained in their fields, and I accept the evidence of the last thirty that neo-liberalism has failed us.

Those are what I base my views on. Not “beliefs” that are supported in conspiratorial “echo chambers” of alt. blogsites that often link to each other for “evidence”, but rarely to science-based information.

Yes, vaccines are developed and sold by “big pharma”. But I do not condemn-by-association the benefits of vaccines because of their provenance.

Just as I do not forego using soap simply because it’s manufactured by a global company.

Just as I do not condemn-by-association vaccines that were produced by state-owned manufacturers within the former Soviet Union.

Dr O’Sullivan spoke truth-to-paranoia. I take my hat off to him.

    • Well said, Frank. We vaccinated all our children after a friend’s child caught chicken pox and ended up with brain damage. Our friends had done their “research” on the internet and believed the rubbish they’d read from various stupid websites. The real crime though is that if a doctor makes a mistake, she or he is personally held liable. But none of the websites that posted malicious lies about vaccines can be held liable for the mis-information they post.

if there is a conspiracy it is a Conspiracy of Ignorance and Paranoia.

  20. The Soviet Union had a comprehensive immunisation campaign. Their vaccine production was state-owned and state-controlled;

The actual administration of vaccines, once field tested and mass produced, proved to be comparatively easy in Soviet society. Once a vaccine was developed in the West, Soviet researchers focused their efforts on obtaining sample strains, reproducing them, conducting field tests, and then mass producing them. The labor costs of medical personnel were quite low meaning that vaccination campaigns could be highly labor intensive.

Simply because vaccines in the West are mass-produced by private companies is no reason to condemn them outright.

Vaccines are just as efficacious whether mass-produced in a capitalist or “socialist”/centralised economy.
