“Last week, Fox News dropped a bombshell report officially confirming, via anonymous FBI sources, what many had suspected for quite some time, that murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich was the WikiLeaks source for leaks which proved that the DNC was intentionally undermining the campaign of Bernie Sanders. In addition to exposing the corruption of the DNC, the leaks cost Debbie Wasserman Shcultz her job as Chairwoman.

Of course, if it’s true that WikiLeaks’ emails came from a DNC insider it would end the “Russian hacking” narrative that has been perpetuated by Democrats and the mainstream media for the past several months. Moreover, it would corroborate the one confirmation that Julian Assange has offered regarding his source, namely that it was “not a state actor.”

Meanwhile, the plot thickened a little more over the weekend when Kim Dotcom confirmed via Twitter that he was working with Seth Rich to get leaked emails to WikiLeaks…

Labour open to private partnerships or overseas investors

Labour would consider public-private partnerships or Chinese investment to fund much-needed infrastructure, leader Andrew Little says.
Mr Little was hitting back at Prime Minister Bill English’s claims Labour wants to slow the economy because it is unwilling to spend on infrastructure to keep up with growth.
Mr English made the comments ahead of Thursday’s Budget.
“We’re not going down the line of the opposition parties of saying, ‘well, let’s stop the economy growing because it’s too hard to keep up’,” Mr English said.
“We want to keep up, and sort different sources of finance, different models of financing are all going to be part of how we make those investments over the next five years.”
However, Mr Little said Labour had committed to the city rail link and light rail to the airport in Auckland, and light rail in Chrisrchurch, but there was still a massive shortfall in infrastructure requirements.
He told Morning Report’s Susie Ferguson Labour would look at creative ways of funding what else was needed.
Asked if that was public-private partnership, he said, “Given the shortfall that we’ve got, and the urgency with which we have to get some of that work under way, we’ve got to keep an open mind to everything – to every possibility,” Mr Little said.
“I’ve long seen and long studied public private partnerships. There are some that have been absolute disasters and some that have actually been quite successful.
Mr Little said he also would not rule out overseas investments, including from China.
“I wouldn’t rule anything out. The conditions have to be right, it has to be something in it for us as well, it wouldn’t be anything as holus bolus as sign-off to a private overseas investor and say ‘you do this’.
“We’d have to make sure we’re working on our own internal skills, our own workforce, building up our own capability and capacity to do things.
“But you can do that with foreign investment as much as local investment.”
He said he thought it was embarrassing for Mr English to have made the claim that Labour wanted to slow the economy, and that National had held Auckland back from growing and developing its own prosperity.
However, he would not give a figure on how much Labour would spend on infrastructure

    • Actually, if it comes to rail @Cleangreen, China might be cheap, but I’d rather bank on the expertise of India if we have to seek external help – WHICH WE PROBABLY NOW DO.
The World’s most extensive network, and already having an appreciation of its value – so much so it’s a cultural thing. Their problem is down to underinvestment (lack of money in maintenance, alongside a few opportunist attacks).
I’ve spoken to some involved (i.e. directly) and visited some workshops (you know – those things we used to have here before we flogged them off and had them closed down).
They actually put long-distant trucks on appropriate rolling stock in certain places to avoid the bleeding bloody obvious things we now face.
They also use appropriate rolling stock as we should here, that’d make a regular service between places like Masterton and Upper Hutt/Wellington; or New Plymouth and Stratford; or Wellington and Palmerston North; or Hamilton and Auckland; or Dunedin and Christchurch; or Picton and Christchurch (WHEN THE LINK IS RESTORED); or Gisborne and Napier/Hatings; etc etc etc ……….. a viable proposition.
The short-sightedness just beggars belief – and just like the various other muppets at the controls – the realisation will come when things are so much harder to implement.

Actually….thus far, I suspect NZ First has the most ambitious policy (not that it’s ambitious enough): Whangarei to Marsden; extension of Toki to Taupo; restoration of Gisborne.

      In terms of the future:
I reckon we’ll see Tauranga as the shipping port (continuing with Marsden for Oil); Hamilton/near Te Awa for Air Freight.
It still amazes me that as far as Passengers go – that twee little outfit that lobbies under the name of The Transport Blog – or something like it, has yet to recognise that Auckland Airport is actually something regional – rather than Auckland centric – and they still appear to be pushing shit uphill – oops I mean ‘light rail’ down Dominion Road. Do they hold meetings over lattes in Ponsonby Road or what!
It’s a shame that an organisation like that – after having done some really good work in the past fails to take account of the bleeding obvious – but then I guess that sums up Auckland’s transport policies over the past 30 or 40 years

    • Maybe, maybe not. This whole thing was kicked off by an american news host or something, might have been Shaun hannity but he’s significant, anyway. Dotcom was tagged into a twit looking at possible causes of a DNS staffers death so this is serous business. Dotcom replied he new the staffer and helped him, whit what im not sure but the staffer is fingered as the source of the DNC links so this is no joke. Its all on Dotcoms twitter if any want to look for themselves
