…the People’s Report on Mental Health is a challenging and deeply necessary body of work that forces us to confront the damage we are needlessly causing through our under funded mental health service.

Sean’s comments, while reflective of some on the right, are a slap in the face to those who tirelessly helped produce this Report and those bare enough to share their stories.

It is this lack of compassion and empathy that is robbing us of action and progress.

Action Station has the full report here.

  1. It doesn’t fit Plunket’s mantra, so it’s clearly wrong. If it was written with a right wing slant, Plunket would have called it an outstanding report.

  2. I’ve just been to the March for Science. It’s about evidence based facts. If this evidence of the reality of 500 people passes off the right then long may people keep pissing them off. This issue is about how the current system is not caring for for vulnerable people and calling for an inquiry to look at how to improve it. Sean is showing his lack of human empathy. I say well done those people who put the evidence together.

    • Truly correct Martyn,

What did we learn in school during the 1950’s?

“Blame the cause not the effect right.”

Treat the cause not the effect to cure the problem came from this

logical thinking that does not exist today!!!!!!

Today it is no wonder why so many are suffering from mental health, with the constant pressures of the over cooked economic caldron we all live in with the “information overload now” and the pressures to buy this and that and conform with everything they now throw at us all.

We are becoming like lab rats mate!!!!!

And I am sick and tired of the pressure being placed on us daily with this stupid media controlled by mindless talking heads and corporate dribble!!!!!!

There I feel better already so thanks for bringing this issue up.

we need to ship this rotting administration off in a leaky boat to the Antarctic region now.

  3. Gosh, where did that old man hide, and why did he suddenly stick his head out from under that dinosaurs turtle shell? Someone must have woken him from his hibernation sleep.

Go back to rest, Sean, nobody seems to miss your one sided “talk” on Radio Live these days.

  4. Sean Plunket needs to have a warm milo and a lie down. Obviously he’s had a rush of blood to the head and hasn’t thought things through.

As Martyn pointed out so succintly, when did telling truth-to-power have to take a back seat to not “upsetting the Right”?

More importantly, has Sean Plunket been holding back when interviewing National ministers so as not to “upset the Right”? That’s pretty much what he’s telling us.

  5. Sean Who? More importantly, Who Cares?

How on earth was he ever employed by Radio NZ.
I called him out on Radio Live once on a rare occasion that I listened to a 30 second segment of his “Squalk Back” programme while channel surfing (before returning to intelligent radio)
He was mindlessly regurgitating the prevailing urban legend spread by the MSM that Key donated all of his parliamentary salary to “charity” – what a load of BS!
In feigned shock and disbelief he insisted he would research this and report back to his listeners.
Amazingly 2 weeks later he reluctantly broadcast that Key’s office had confirmed only a “percentage”of his income was donated to charity – but they would not reveal what percentage and to which organisation. (No doubt the National Party Charitable Organisation, to which Key donated money from Golf matches with Wealthy business people)
He has probably stuck his head above the parapet at this time to raise his profile in preparation to taking over some National party role – maybe David Farrar’s successor!
