NZDF Press Conference – not so much double speak as triple speak

Ok, so the NZDF have come out with their 5th version of events, and it is that while they said reports of civilian casualties were unfounded, that didn’t mean that there weren’t any civilian casualties, but the SAS weren’t in that village anyway and if there were civilian casualties then they only happened because of a technical fault with the apache attack helicopters machine gun.

Oh and by the way, yes the SAS did kill one person, but he was a terrorist.

Remember, it’s NOT a war crime, it was a weapons malfunction.

Confused? Well, that was the purpose of the press conference.

This is Grade A bullshit. We need an independent inquiry now.

  1. Exactly the same operation but in the street off the one Hager and Stephenson wrote about. It was all just a big old misunderstanding. Well thank God for that.

Mike Hosking was right, nothing to see here, just some silly left wing conspiracy theorists who don’t love John Key nor would bear his children. They are probably commie symps too. Vote National 2017!

  2. In today’s Herald Martyn there is a damning NZDF report which has finally been released after a Herald Investigative Journalist took 3 years trying to get it out of the OIA office and finally the Ombudsman has released it. I cannot find it online but its in print in today’s issue.

It seems the NZDF is having a cluster fuck of a situation arising. It seems the report was so damning they wanted it kept under cover. Its about the involvement of our forces in Afghanistan and how the troops had inferior equipment, no correct dealings with mortuary situations with our deceased men/women, all round the officers with boots on the ground felt they had no say in what went down over there and it was the pollies and heads of staff which impeded them in their jobs.

Seriously can anybody believe what goes on with our military. History has never changed. My uncle in the Middle East in WW2 said the same thing to me many years ago, they envied the German Army’s equipment and clothing – yada yada, said they were treated poorly when they returned. The military who fight and do government’s dirty work for them are never respected and thanked for what they do. Sickening.

Martyn you need to do a post on it – it certainly solidifies what Nicky Hager and Jon Stephensen have written in their book. I wouldn’t believe a single word the top brass in the NZDF are coming out with to try and worm their way out of the mess they are in.

  3. For real and when they tried explaining away the location? It wasn’t easy to follow and nor was there any real detail of the contested location and the location that they purport was where the incident took place. what a fucken joke

  4. If ever an example was needed as to why ‘Waatea 5th Estate’ should be back on our screens, this is it.
It would be compulsive viewing and ‘out rate’ everything else going.
Surely ‘Prime TV’ would be interested to have it in their 7pm slot and run it for an hour each night.
    Dreams…..free….

  5. Like the human rights commissioner said this morning the whole valley is called the place this NZDF jerk said was the village he was only involved in , so he was using smoke and mirrors folks that’s all.

So we hear the legal claim will be lodged independently to get at the real truth as this liar has “key-it is also.

  6. Same treatment as the ‘Dirty Politics’ book got from government and those mentioned in the book. They found a few minor “mistakes” or “discrepancies”, and hence rubbished the whole book with its revelations.

I note tonight, Monday, 27 March 2017, the media have already moved this topic further down the priority rankings, as “further news” that happened.

In a few more days nobody out there will crow about it, it will be buried same as ‘Dirty Politics’.

Welcome to NZ Inc 2017, where alternative truths, gossip, infotainment and endless giggling and chatter rule, and issues of substance no longer get covered. This is how dictatorships work. And the “media” bends over backwards, as they crave for advertising dollars, which will not be paid if the programs are too stern and grim.
