If our anti-Gay Rights Prime Minister Bill English attends Big Gay Out today will the Community allow themselves to be used?

After shearing this sheep of its wool, he’d like to shear homosexuals of their rights

Our anti-Gay Rights Prime Minister, fresh from shearing sheep, intends to turn up at the Big Gay Out this afternoon.

This is the Prime Minister who did the following…

He voted against the legalisation of same sex marriage. He voted against civil unions. He voted against prostitution law reform. He voted for a 2005 bill that sought to clarify that marriage should only be between men and women.

English is perhaps most vocal on abortions. In 1997 he said Parliament had “fallen short in our duty to protect the unborn child”.

Anti-abortion groups list him as a supporter.

As Health Minister, he actively attempted to reduce the number of abortions, introducing a booklet about “other options” and foetal development.

His wife Mary, who is a Wellington GP, is on a list of doctors who have reportedly refused to provide abortion services or contraception. She told NZME that the pair were “both conservatives on anti-abortion issues”.

The question is how much the LGBTQ community are prepared to be used by a Prime Minister who has built his political career on demonising them and denying them basic human rights. He voted against same sex marriage, civil unions, prostitution reform and attempted to force NZ only to accept a definition of heterosexual marriage. Add in the hate he has for women attempting to gain safe and legal abortion and Bill English is a hard right Christian with all the compassion of Donald Trump on a bad hair day.

Will the LGBTQ community allow such a hateful individual to simply use them as a photo opportunity?

If there was ever a politician to throw your sex toys at, it’s this homophobic Gay hating anti-arbortion far right Christian arsehole.

  1. A gay friend of mine, born to Labour voting family now votes National.

His view is that the whole gay thing is now a non-issue (a bit like feminism is a non-issue) and the gay community has moved on. His voting decision is now driven by issues other than identity politics.

    Time to move on!

    • Congratulations for having a gay friend Andrew.

And yes, many from the LGBTQ+ community support economically liberal parties.

But Key, who is the most socially liberal PM we’ve ever had, received a brutal response last year. I doubt the LGBTQ+ community will be more accepting of the PM now that a pro-life, anti-gay, catholic conservative who holds extreme religious views.

Of course, some LGBTQ+ people think “the whole gay thing is now a non-issue (a bit like feminism is a non-issue)”, but they’re not all head-in-the-sand liberals who don’t know their history.

Most people know that we have a long way to go before we have gender and sexuality equality.

  2. It’s a bit like a cattle farmer being the guest of honour at a Vegan convention. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens. Probably being glitter bombed is as bad as it gets. The nation may also get to see Bill dancing to ‘It’s Raining Men’. That could be his Geoff Palmer musical moment for YouTube.

    • Bill English holds the views of the Roman Catholic Church as that is his
      faith.
As an agnostic I don’t agree with him but respect his right to hold these views -provided they do not become government policy.
      They don’t and they won’t.
To say he” has built his career on demonising them and denying them basic human rights” is rubbish.
Must be a slow news day.

      • “To say he” has built his career on demonising them and denying them basic human rights” is rubbish.”

        No, it’s not rubbish.

That’s what conservative politicians do. They do the same to poor people and those at the margins of society. Look at his voting record on key pieces of legislation over the years.

He hasn’t built his political career on uplifting LGBTQ+ people and promoting their human rights, has he?

He needs to own his political beliefs, and people like you should stop white-washing them.

        • Hey Fats,
politicians in this country are lucky to be allowed to hold different views from you and me and their colleagues.
They can vote against motions but as long as they go along with the majority that’s ok be me.
That’s the way our system works.
I’m not whitewashing anybody but they are entitled to their views just as you are and Martyn’s words were ill chosen as no politician in this country can rise to the top by “building his career” as described.
Don’t forget there are many Left wing Catholics who hold exactly the same views.
It’s a pity the PM holds such beliefs but they are the beliefs of the church he believes in and follows.

          • “politicians in this country are lucky to be allowed to hold different views from you and me and their colleagues.”

Of course, politicians hold different views, as do people…that was never my point.

My point is that Afewknowthetruth is right. If you look at what English has voted on in the past and what ideology English’s political career was built on, it was conservative religious values.

English is free to hold those values, and free to build his political career on them, but we shouldn’t whitewash this, and neither should he

            • Well Fatty,
you will have been pleased to hear that the PM has changed his views on Gays. It”s good that he has finally accepted the reality of the situation and he has the capacity to change.
Mind you, it was the same for all of our generation of immediate post war babes. Homo bashing was common in the 60’s and it took a long time for public opinion to change. It took a lot longer for country people and RC’s. Islam does not tolerate it at all, although I imagine moderate Muslims accept it as they do in Jakarta.

      • From what I have seen, read and heard, the Roman Catholic Church is amongst the worst of the lot, if not the very worst of the lot. Throughout it’s history it has promoted: wars, land theft, colonization, slavery, torture, abduction of children, persecution of unmarried mothers, pedophilia, banking scams, destruction of indigenous cultures, destruction of the environment, guilt, mind-control, money extortion, and completely false narratives as far as Christ’s teaching go.

The standing joke is that Catholics behave like criminals six days of the week and confess their sins on the seventh; the following week they do the same, ad infinitum. In many cases it’s not a joke but is for real.

  3. Bill English is a traitorous farmer shouldering the responsibility of keeping The Great New Zealand Institutionalised Lie buried under logical fallacy head fuckery.
If the Lie became a popular topic of discussion amongst the real farming community, not just the cowsploiters, there would be a back lash more lashing than a deviant Catholic trying to whack the sin out of HIMself with a cat O nine tails. “ I like cock ! “ Whack ! “ I love women as equals therefore abortion is a woman’s right to choose “ Whack ! “ There are more important things in life than hoarding money ! “ Whack ! ( Seen Boardwalk Empire? )
NZ farmers are the Kiwi cash cow ( Is that a pun or irony? ) who must remain subdued and quelled under mountains of debt while struggling to work ever harder under the MSM constructed glare of urban loathing and envy lest the truth comes out while the Banksters go ‘Ka Ching!’ ( Because, you Urban? Yes, you. Dumb as shit. You think you’re smart with your deegreees and such like, but dumb as shit. Sorry. Educated beyond your intelligence I’m afraid. If you were not so stupid you’d understand, and appreciate, where the money comes from that you borrow to buy your lacy little villas in Ponsonby for the $-millions + each. )
And the wool off that sheep’s back billy’s violating? ( Whack ! ) Someone, ask him what he expects to $-get for its wool, as a farmer? After all the farmers ( And usually his family too ) work hard and take great $-risk to get the animal to a shearable state..? What is that wools $-value once it ends up as a $-garment? And then? And then, ask him ? Who’s pockets do those vast post farm gate profits go in to , and why doesn’t he give a fuck about his fellow farmers? Go on…? Ask him… ? Ask him about why the wool board stock piled wool in Christchurch as the Farmers European buyers were crying out for it to fufill their orders to their clients? I’d love to see him try and answer that on thu teee veee.
    But wait ! ? There’s more!
Ask him about other farmer farmed goods. Like meat, ( And yes folks! The Bacon you have in your eggs bennie? It is meat! ) Ask him what happens to its value once trucked off? Ask him why, for example, NZ bacon, and other NZ meats, are cheaper in the UK than in NZ? And where are our export quality fruits and vegetables? In ‘ Countdown’ ? Yeah…..? Nah. In Watties cans and cheaper in AU than NZ? You guessed it. Gee, thanks pig muldoon right? The Farmers Friend. With Muthafutha friends who were like Pig the Banker Punk the farmer doesn’t need the other enemies the MSM creates almost daily to hide the bizarre truth.
Why don’t you ask him about the fat, croaking old crooks around the primary industry boards? Ask him why our essential rural towns, you know the ones right? The ones that shlould service our PRIMARY INDUSTRY, are dying off while Auckland’s stuffed with urbane desperadoes struggling on $- 100 K a year?

Struggling to make ends meet on $100k salary. WTF?

I’ve been reading Tumeke for years, then along came TDB and in all that time, I can never recall reading anything investigative about the weird phenomenon that is the Farmer/Town relationship which is both invisible to city people and who are rorted mercilessly by the Kiwi 1 % ers.
The only time the NZ Farmer is mentioned here is in the negative connotation.
Ask little billy why that is?
We’re all being played like schmucks.

  4. It’s his anti-euthanasia views that particularly troubles me. Though I can’t help but be impressed at his shearing ability (even if his competitor might have thrown the contest), and his fluency in Maori. Click go the shears! — a challenge not only for A Little, but also Lord Turnbull of Wentworth.

    • I agree it’ good to have a PM who can get out and do some Kiwi stuff. Long time since we had a PM with any practical ability. Bolger, another farmer – and another RC if I recall correctly – was probably the last to have any practical skills, probably Norman Kirk before that although Muldoon could grow flowers.
Euthanasia is a tricky one as public opinion is slow on it and parliament follows rather than leads.
Once public opinion is firmly behind it, it won’t really matter what the conservatives on both sides of the house think as it will happen. I certainly don’t want my family to see my life end with pain and no dignity.
