The Journalism, Media & Democracy 2016 Media Ownership Report

The live stream of the Journalism, Media & Democracy 2016 Media Ownership Report yielded an incredible insight to how precarious the current state of journalism really is.

Dr Wayne Hope gave an impressive oversight and review of how financial institutions have corrupted and influenced media ownership and  the author of the report, Merja Myllylahti, shocked everyone when she noted that currently NZME is 86% owned by Banks.

When the Banks own you, those writing opinion pieces outside of that paradigm don’t tend to get hired.

Watch the entire event, and ask yourself if we can trust a media who are so compromised.

  1. Fuck its corporate control of the fourth estate and they used to go on about the evils of communism effecting free speech.

    Where is the difference ?

If New Zealanders dont wake up and change the government with a demand that a new administration change this then we cant fool ourselves we live in a free country with free expression.

We sat by and allowed the surveillance state to increase its dominance and other undemocratic practices by this government to continue.

Welcome to the 21st century and the new tyranny that has taken over and not one shot fired.
