    Was this all about just the oil????

    They sure want to secure the oil with this pre planned build up –

    The American destroyer USS Sampson was going to be in Auckland today but a decision was made last night to send it to the South Island instead. The ship’s two helicopters will help with supplies and evacuations.

    Canada is sending the frigate Vancouver, and Australia the frigate Darwin.

    The New Zealand navy ships HMNZS Wellington and the larger Canterbury are both expected to arrive this morning, carrying supplies. They will be joined later by the frigate Te Kaha and the tanker ship, Endeavour.

    Defence Minister Gerry Brownlee has welcomed the addition of the ships and has accepted other offers of help from Japan and Singapore. – Australia also sending a ship

  4. I have long thought a war between nations, is like a neighbourhood dispute gone bad. You don’t go around to your neighbours place and thump the merry hell out of them for no good reason. A nation does not attack a neighbouring country for no good reason.

    So here we are, great mates with Britain and the United States, who have a dodgy mate called Saudi Arabia who often goes next door and bombs merry hell out of Yemen. And here is the problem. Saudi Arabia is using bombs and delivery systems in Yemen that are hurting members of the Yemen family that were given to them by Britain and the U.S.

    Do we turn a blind eye to the fact that our mates are condoning war crimes by a dodgy mate of theirs, or do we stand up and say “Hey! This is not cool – stop it!”.

  5. The PM rabbiting on again about the difficulty of repairing the Kaikoura Coast Road and how an alternative route might have to be found (Radio NZ News 1 pm).

    How difficult was it to build the road in the first place? Mostly done with picks, shovel and wheelbarrows, I suppose.

    Like we were capable of BUILDING it in the first place maybe 100 years ago. But we are incapable of merely REPAIRING it now?

    What a goon. All he understands is MONEY.

    Give him a pick and shovel for a day. Then have him get his bulldozer license. Eventually he might acquire a few clues.

    • +100…why is he so keen on a new road ?…repairs are less costly…who has shares in the road construction companies?
