Is Trump another BREXIT?

The gloating and braying at Trump’s hateful campaigning by  most o0f the media elites is all fine and good, but it’s starting to sound like that shrill cultural blinsdspot that engulfed the BREXIT debate.

Clinton is a corporate paid military industrial complex hawk but I hope Trump loses, not because I think Hillary will be great – she won’t, but when it’s a choice between organised war and disorganised hate, organised war wins. Just.

The only real difference between Hillary and Donald is that Hillary will have planned America’s next war, Donald will bumble into one.

This extraordinary campaign however highlights the yawning chasm between those who have been left behind and those just keeping up.

I loath Trump and everything for which he stands, but his brittle vanity and endless fury mimic the lost self esteem of millions of Americans whose aspirations have been bullied and lost by a political process more interested in representing their corporate masters than the voters. Trump and his rise are a symptom of a deeper rot at the heart of the American soul.

I hope Trump doesn’t win, but the ocean of hate and anger that he has sailed over is far vaster than our social media echo chambers.

  1. Written recently by an American living in America:

‘No matter which candidate is (s)Elected in November, it’s going to be a terrible time for America. Even worse however, will be what this will mean for the planet. I’m referring to how America and Americans themselves are going to respond to the new commander in chief and the dictates that will follow. It’s going to be very, very ugly. This will not be a place to be. Leave if you can……

… Get ready to defend yourselves from the growing horde of idiots that plague this country. The race-bating, hate-filled, bigots, idiots and morons. If the (s)Election goes the other way, then get yourselves ready to go to war (here). Hillary seems hell-bent on ensuring we engage in another decade of senseless slaughter which is going to backfire this time (I suspect). I honestly cannot believe the (s)Election has come down to these two truly horrible “candidates” except for the fact that it really, really has. What a goddamned fucking mess this is for every decent human being on the entire planet………….

….The entire candidate (s)Election process has been highly orchestrated and manipulated from the beginning. So now, just one month out, it’s come down to these two choices – bad and worse. I’ll let you decide which one you think is worse. I’m not sure it even matters now. Trump is far too stupid and arrogant to NOT do something fatal for the country. And Hillary fully INTENDS to do so. So take your pick. If it were me, I’d head to parts far, far away if I could. But I can’t. So get ready to endure eight years or more of pure hell and escalating misery….

….It’s not just the candidate (s)Election that disgusts me, it’s the sheer stupidity of my “fellow Americans” that have fallen, hook, line and sinker for the propaganda that is being vomited forth now. I doubt we’ve seen the end of this yet, but what I’ve seen and read so far is unbelievable. It’s like a bad script where Dumb and Dumber vie for the prize of Dumbest Of All…….

    …America is about to explode.’

      • Once again, I agree 100% with Afewknowthetruth,

The following critique of mainstream economic policy on the “Burning Platform” blog is well worth a read.

Although written from the U.S. perspective, it applies equally well to NZ, in my opinion.

Apologies for the longish quote, which comes from near the end of the article.

        http://www.theburningplatform.com/2016/10/10/hillary-deceit-debt-delusions-part-one/

“The common theme from ancient obfuscators during the time of Adam Smith down through the ages to the current gaggle of sophists is that economics is too complicated for the average person to understand; therefore they should not even attempt to follow the reasoning or judge the merits of asinine voodoo economic tripe sold by arrogant Ivy League academics on behalf of the establishment . . . . . Their sole concern is for their reputation and personal gain from peddling false narratives on behalf of crooked politicians and wealthy bankers.

Despite overwhelming factual evidence that crackpot Keynesian spending machinations; debasing the currency; interest rate manipulation; globalization; perpetual war; incurring unpayable levels of debt; making $200 trillion of unfunded welfare promises; scorning and ridiculing those who propose living within our means; record levels of wealth inequality; stagnant wages; the loss of good paying jobs; and permanent recessionary conditions for 90% of America; has created a seething anger across the land, Hillary Clinton and her establishment flunkies propose doubling down on those same failed policies.”

The entire article is well worth a read; and I’m look forward to the appearance of Part 2 . . . .

    • I think, for those of us outside of the US, we can hope for Trump, assuming that any damage will be internal to the US. Hillary is keen to continue the US’s ‘policeman of the world’ role with more wars leading to the deaths of innocent civilians who are not Americans, and quite a few soldiers who are (plus all the allied soldiers who are dying from ‘friendly fire’). For those in the US, it’s a tough choice.

  2. There would be far too much at stake, a far too great risk and potential for serious trouble, should the US voters, that is mostly the angry ones, vote Trump.

He will hardly look after the truly downtrodden, and the African Americans, the Latinos or even the Muslim migrants. He is white, privileged, arrogant, a gambler and a provocateur. He will look after the interests of himself, his close ones and few others.

Any person who will have listened carefully to what he has said in his speeches, and during these TV debates, will note he is simply a toxic character, who must not be allowed to be in charge of the Pentagon and the button for nukes.

As much as I mistrust Clinton, and dislike her background and style, she is the lesser risk. At least she has accepted that “trickle down” does not work, and even if she will ultimately protect Wall Street and the elite, she will at least offer some moderate redistribution of wealth and incomes.

It is a difficult choice for some there to vote, but perhaps we need to hope for a better successor next time around, that is provided the world is still in one piece by then.

No matter who will be in charge for the coming years, the world is at a crossroads, and relations between all the superpowers are at a real low now, forget the window dressing and facades. Any spark could set off a major war.

    • Hillary may try but her elite masters wont let her carry out those expensive wish lists you suggest Mike.

I wished you were right but I fear it wont happen.

Only war will happen as those Koch bros and Rothschild’s and all other industrialist’s are craving for a war now to prevent another depression that has come already as European central banks all slide today into the economic abyss we are in for dark times I am afraid now.

  3. hILLARY IS A WAR HAWK,

Donald IS A “DO A DEAL ARTIST” as Winston Churchill learned to be when dealing with “the Russian Bear”

Hillary won’t take any deals, she would rather be a Maggie Thatcher in the Falklands war type, and gladly spill our young men’s blood for her glory!!!!

Like Queen Cleopatra did, she will start a war and in this case the third world war for sure now if she gets oval room.

We are heading for Armageddon in two years mate for sure.

We may also loose as the Gulf states may join the other side as some did with Hitler last time, and this time to defeat us all first then turn their hatred for infidel’s everywhere and finish the rest of us off.

Donald Trump was our last chance at avoiding a third world war.

  4. Ive still not made my mind up about the pair of them. But Hillary comes across as a little too restrained, measured at times, Which gives her an air of cold detachment , even slightly boring ,… as if she is not quite being on the level about things,… whether that’s her or developed from years in politics and the seasoned deliberated ‘choosing of the words’ responses we so often get from politicians…

Trump , on the other hand seems like a playboy at heart. He was after all, involved in a certain amount of public TV beforehand. Always delighting it seems in creating a controversy. And despite the gaffes and the emotive terms used for effect, there must be some good in him … why the popularity …he reminds me of an Archie Bunker type character, and like Archie Bunker … I could picture him on the construction site as the foreman, – complete with hard hat , checked shirt with sleeves rolled up at the elbows, blue denim jeans , – barking out orders and at once being a man whos bark is worse than his bite, telling it like it is , respected by the men for being dependable ,… if a little terse and colourful in speech at times…

Are these just first impressions imagery ? I still don’t know. All I do know is that I keep getting the feeling from a lot of Americans the whole thing is a circus. And perhaps it is. Maybe that’s a good thing as it heralds the dismantling of years of the Ronald Reagan trickle down elitist’s club. And perhaps Martyn is right about one thing, … it looks like Americas BREXIT set in another place , different manner of expressing it , but similar in root causes. We shall see.

    • I like you have always been an optimist but knowing more today at 72 about the generational divide between the Baby boomers of which I am one born on the very day the allies liberated Paris and those succeeding generations X, Y, and the millennial’s I fear they all didn’t grow up during the last days of the last war as we did and have an ingrained fear and cautious fearing about any cavalier characters like Hillary who rattle sabres again at trying to scare other large nations, like Russia and China to try and get their own way.

As the US seems to be doing all this after the day we learned in 2014 that China was levelling with US and soon to become as the new “super power” of the world.

I recall the US went into it’s shell that very day after the “Russia, China Brazil monetary block BRIC,s https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRICS
(that John Key/English rushed into to sign up to also,) as divided block to equal the US empirical monetary system by constructing the new Monetary block to rival the US dollar as the only reserve currency, and the rest is now history as we now enter into the new age of the “Global currency wars”

Is this the way that US is attempting to regain their supremacy as the only world reserve currency again?

is this what it is all about?

When we think back to when it was Hillary that begun the Russia “Restart button” in those days before!!!

Then now are actually the most vocal at advocating Russia is now now our supreme enemy?

I truly fear what I now see ahead of us all.

God help us all if you are wrong and I am right here Mike.

      Or perhaps Martyn you should begin another post of;

Are we witnessing; Is Trump another BRiC’s advocate rather than a Beixit?

  5. The political world is currently being rearranged.

The previous century was Left V Right

This century looks to be shaping up to be Globalist V Nationalist tussle

Brexit was obvious a win for the nationalists and the US election looks to be a win for the globalists.

Standing by your tattered red banner might make you irrelevant in the next election. Best you figure out whose side you’re on.

      • Yes the world globalists are slowly taking control of every single corner quetly not to awake our sleepy hobits alright.

The media have even ben taken over to control our hearts and minds and the government are aiding and abetting them also.

        Andrew where do you stand?

I saw a memo from a website that showed all the public media four years ago were sent a warning from a specific Government agency within MBIE that all programming sent out from that time would be controlled through a new “accredited `Quality assurance” monitoring system set up to prevent any “unwanted surprises” or “Embarrassment towards Government, and I was horrified then so is that agency still in force as a screening of our public media now?

This is Hitler’s Germany 1932 Goebbels all over again now right?
So is it the past coming back to haunt us now and UK has seen the writing on the wall, and is getting out before ‘they’ take them over?

        God save the Queen.

  6. The Capitalists know there is no way out for them, and that another World War is their only chance to retain power. Let’s look at just four of the insurmountable issues they face;

    1. Levels of global debt that can never be repaid, resulting in the inevitable collapse of the global economy.
    2. Moribund domestic economies gutted by de-industrialisation leaving millions of unemployed or underemployed.
    3. Rising populism and activism by the working class, resulting in the gradual reversal of 30 years of Neo-liberalism.
    4. Dramatic contraction of profitable productive investment opportunities, driving unsustainable property prices, giving rise to Neo-Feudalism.

None of the above can be fixed by Capitalism or Neo-Liberalism, and any one of these issues by itself would be enough to trigger a global collapse.

How will a global war fix this for them?

    1. Global debt can be written off post-war in its entirety.
    2. Domestic economies can be rapidly and forcibly re-industrialised during war time, for military production.
    3. Domestic malcontents are easily dealt with by violent repression, through the draft, and by putting people into the army, into camps, or into the ground.
    4. Opportunities for profit are never higher than during war time, and then there is Reconstruction to look forward to!

This is not my plan, it’s theirs. War and chaos are as much a “Brexit” for Capitalists as the real Brexit and Trump is to us. It’s a last throw of the dice, a Hail Mary pass deep into the end zone, with the hope that one of their guys will catch the ball. It’s never failed them yet.

The truth is, if there is such a war, either Fascism will win, and the Capitalists will come out back on top, or it will mean the collapse of civilisation, because of the awful power of the technology we currently have.

What will emphatically NOT happen is a successful, peaceful Socialist Revolution resulting in the creation of a non-authoritarian Socialist society. There is zero chance of that.

It will not happen for the simple reason that there are probably no Socialists alive today who would know how to create and run such a society, and almost certainly none who are ready, willing and able to do so if called upon.

This is called the Socialist No-Plan-Plan; plan for nothing, and nothing is precisely what you get. This Socialist No-Plan-Plan is guaranteed to succeed. Which means once again, the Workers will get to do all the fighting and dying, and at the end of it, we zip.

If this future does not appeal to you, then it’s past time to do one of two things; either, create the greatest mass peace movement the world has ever seen to prevent the new Cold War from turning hot OR start working on a plan to replace Capitalism right bloody now, from where we stand and with what we have at hand.

    Take your pick.
