BREAKING NEWS: The Israeli Occupation Forces have illegally intercepted the Women’s Boat to Gaza in international waters, forced it off course. Meanwhile Israel has conducted more than 25 bombing raids near Gaza City. NZ Green Party MP Marama Davidson is among the 13 women currently being detained.

Early this morning all contact with the Zaytouna-Oliva was lost and the Israeli Occupation Navy has illegally surrounded it in international waters (latest recorded position: Lat+31.906033 Lon+33.757630 – about 35 miles off the coast of Gaza) and has forced it off its course to Gaza. It is believed that the boat is currently being forced to the Israeli port of Ashdod, where all of her crew are expected to be detained. On board are 13 women, including NZ Green MP Marama Davidson, Mairead Maguire, the 1976 Nobel peace laureate from Northern Ireland, Fauziah Hasan, a doctor from Malaysia, and retired US army colonel Ann Wright. Kia Ora Gaza urges flotilla supporters to take urgent action to protect them now.

Please take action now. Demand that Israel ensure the safety & respect of all the women, and immediately releases the Women’s Boat to Gaza and all on board, and allow her to continue to her destination – the port of Gaza City.

  1. YAWN….I was hoping Israel would let them through, then no grandstanding by the crew and they slip back into obscurity, although in saying that, hardly front page news anywhere is it?

  2. Dear Murray McCully

Can you please ensure the women on the boat Zaytouna-Oliva, are quickly deported and returned to their respective countries with a smile and little to no press coverage, as this will annoy them greatly.

Please feel free to scuttle the boat, or give it to the Palestinians.

    Many Thanks
    NZ Voters

  3. “ensure the safety & respect of all the women”…because, you know, its a boat with only women aboard. This being a ‘Woman’s Boat’. An action designed to draw particular attention to the plight of women in Gaza.
I can’t see any indication that they are demanding ‘more respect’ for women at the expense of the men of Gaza.

Maybe the article could refer to ‘the crew’, that would be possibly less emotive for some.

Is someone trying to con people here. . .

    • please tell us all which comments are disgraceful Words? or is it that not all comments are agreeing with the narrative and thus not allowed? you are aware the UN declared the blockade by sea as lawful are you not?

      • You are one of them. Are you aware there was no legal reason for Israel to intercept this boat in international waters?

    • Do you also acknowledge that the Israeli settlements on the West Bank are illegal?

And should Israel abide by UN Resolution 242?

Os is this more selectivity from Israel’s right-wing supporters?

  6. Israel has probably done these women a great service by not allowing them to fall into the hands of Hamas.

  7. According to John Key, Marama Davidson’s involvement is “less than a perfect look”! Perception and image is Key’s way.

As he is kith and kin of the oppressing nation here, of course condemnation of their action will not be forthcoming anytime soon from Key or his government!

Well done to Marama and the women aboard this boat. The thwarting of their intention of helping those in need in Gaza by Israel, yet again determines Israel as an aggressive state.

  8. What an utterly pathetic and irresponsible response from the pm:

“The Prime Minister said it’s a “less than perfect” look for a New Zealand MP to have tried to enter Gaza, when the official advice was clearly against such action.”

Its a “less than perfect look” when we have a weak-kneed, grovelling, unprincipled pm who wouldn’t get off his ass to do ANYTHING as a matter of principle. Especially, if it might get him offside with his HEROES the USA (Also known as “the extended United States of Israel”).

What a total fuckwit. Wouldn’t know a humane, principled MP if he fell over one.

  9. I see that local resident right-wing nutjobs are out in force, supporting their Israeli govt masters. They think they are being witty, but come across as feckless smart-arses.
