No you shouldn’t mock Kim Kardashian for being violently robbed, yes you should mock the media focus on this banal crap

1. I really wonder if the media contribute to society at all in the overall scheme of things. Any good they do seem to be over shadowed by the destruction they cause. That is why blogs such as this are important. This type of blog just needs to not get to heavy handed in censorship just because the view expressed may not be always a left wing view.

   • Dave I’m not convinced about your comment on TDB being too censored. Just spend a bit of time on the Standard and you will see a lot of time wasting trolls ruining any chance of meaningful discussion.

   • Dave the right already control the NZ media we are already constantly bombarded with there one eyed bias views so a bit of censorship sort of tries to strike a balance something we don’t have in our country at the moment.

       • Really? Who of their team is “left”, I wonder. Maybe Willie Jackson tends to the left, but he is rather concerned with Maori issues and also runs his own radio-station and thus a business. He has his other activities contracting for services to whanau and so forth.

2. Yes, send them home, the message, the MSM and hopeless, highly privileged, protected careerists that run the media and front the media in New Zealand and mostly even world wide.

   You people who present us this bias, you have an ethical dilemma at hour hands, you are betraying human values, truth, dignity and human rights, you are trivialising the dead and suffering in other places, by focusing on the Royals, on the Kardashian Clan, on Bill Gates, on even Max Key and others, who do not deserve to be in the limelight.

   While I am no fan of Popes, at least he has made clear, he has no time of this BS that we get day in and day out.

   Fuck the MSM I say, you have lost all credibility and your compass, long ago, it will need many heads to roll, major changes in government and policy, an re-claiming of the public voices and information channels all over to correct this malady.

4. …and I still would like to know how ALL those reporters from Fox, NBC etc KNEW that building 7 ( 9/11 ) was coming down minutes BEFORE it actually collapsed – how’s that on the conscience?
   M$M the world over has a lot to answer for, the problem is do they really care?

5. Good point Bomber, but I’m starting to wonder if it really did happen, or is it an engineered smoke screen? Some things aren’t adding up. After all, isn’t that what the Kardashians really are?

6. Being held at gunpoint and robbed of possessions would be pretty terrifying for anyone, Kim Kardashian or Joe/Jane Bloggs.

   However, considering the Kardashian family obsession with media attention and this is exactly what KK is getting here, I do wonder if the event what she claimed happened, or to the extent she claims, has been staged to feed her craving to be the ultimate focus of media.

   And msm in this country is going overboard to keep up the focus on KK, while ignoring and diverting from the reality of issues affecting NZ, with at least three news items each day on either Kardashian, her husband or her bodyguard taking up space in media network publications this past week.

   This is not newsworthy. At least not while far too many Kiwi families are grafting hard for a pittance, desperately trying to keep themselves together, some of whom are unable to afford to keep a roof over their heads, resorting instead to living rough in vehicles, sheds, garages, tents etc.

   These issues should be the main news focus, not some talentless, self indulgent fruitcake from the otherside of the world, claiming to be the victim of theft.

   Msm needs a good sharp kick in the backside and get back to its original purpose. That is through serving as the proxy of the people, instead of shamefully allowing itself to be used as a diversionary tool by the powers-that-be, to deflect from the incompetence of government, by publishing absolute, possibly contrived nonsense as news!

7. Who’s to say it was real anyway.
   That mega-attention-seeking person might have staged the whole thing because she hadn’t been in the headlines for a few days.
   By the way – haven’t heard anything about Johnny Depp’s dogs, or Bruce Jenner’s sex change for a few months. I am sure we are overdue for an update there. Vitally important news, you understand!
