Chelsea Manning is a hero. She exposed the truth of what the US Military were really doing in Iraq and their war crimes remain a stain alongside so many other stains caused by America’s corporate wars.

Chelsea’s inhumane prison conditions for exposing US war crimes just became nastier.

As ‘punishment’ for attempting suicide, Chelsea will be sentence to 14 days solitary confinement – for attempting suicide…

Chelsea Manning sentenced to 14 days solitary confinement for charges following suicide attempt

Chelsea Manning has been convicted of charges following her suicide attempt and says she will have to serve a period of time in solitary confinement.

The former US soldier and whistleblower released a statement today after appearing before a three-member disciplinary board.

In the statement released on her Twitter account, Manning, who is transgender, said she presented evidence and questioned witnesses during the hearing. The board took 30 minutes to make their decision, according to her statement, and sentence her to ‘disciplinary segregation’.

Manning is serving a 35-year sentence at Fort Leavenworth prison in Kansas for leaking classified documents. Manning says her gender dysphoria led her to try to kill herself in July and briefly went on hunger strike earlier in September until the army approved her transition surgery.

…I can’t think of a  more Kafkaesque punishment – 14 days solitary confinement for attempting suicide?

In NZ, the National Government are trying to push through legislation that will punish whistleblowers with a 5 year prison sentence.

Punishing those for telling the truth is like punishing someone who attempts suicide.

It must be Sunday: you’re offering flattery.

  3. Chelsea manning will be seen by historians as doing the right thing. Small comfort to her, though, I guess.

The us govt shows itself capable of employing the very same tactics it condemns in other countries. Rank hypocrisy

  4. There is very little real justice in most — JUSTICE SYSTEMS.
Obama and Key are hypocrites and cowards and suck up puppets for the gangsters and banksters who control and dictate to most govts. and most media.

Chelsea is a hero and any thinking person knows this. She should be pardoned and released and the real lying hypocrites should be put in prison instead.

Irag and Viet Nam etc. were clearly massive mistakes and brought immense horrors to millions. Thanks to anyone who blew whistles and exposed the greedy war mongers and crimes committed. Free Chelsea ! ! !
