John Key still won’t apologise for prison rape ‘joke’ despite BSA ruling

The BSA has ruled that John Key’s hilarious rape joke on notoriously sexist radio station ‘The Rock’ was unacceptable…

A complaint about a radio stunt involving the Prime Minister which alluded to prison rape has been upheld by the Broadcasting Standards Authority.

Broadcaster MediaWorks has been ordered to pay $1000 in costs and apologise for the stunt on air.

The authority found the stunt on The Rock Morning Rumble breached the good taste and decency and responsible programming standards.

The broadcast took place on December 16 last year when morning hosts of The Rock, who had the John Key as a guest, invited him to enter a cage installed in the studio.

Key was asked by the hosts to “pick up the soap”. Key said it “smells real bad” and was “wet and greasy”, and he didn’t know where it had been. The radio host told Key he had a pretty mouth – a reference to a prison rape scene in the well-known film Deliverance.

…it’s a weak slap over the wrist with a wet bus ticket for Mediaworks – no surprises there as the BSA is toothless and gutless – but surely you would expect the Prime Minister of NZ would at least be gracious enough post the ruling to acknowledge his role in the rape prison ‘joke’ was beneath the dignity of PM and was offensive.

But no.

The Guardian asked if John Key would no apologise post the BSA ruling, and what did he say…

New Zealand’s prime minister, John Key, has refused to apologise for his participation in a controversial radio stunt last year even though the Broadcasting Standards Authority (BSA) has found it deliberately referred to prison rape and trivialised sexual violence.

…even after being told by the BSA that he was out of line, the PM still refuses to apologise.

Key loves The Rock, 7 Days, ZM, More FM and the Edge because soft social media interviews with hosts on media that are depoliticised wastelands of ignorance is an easy way to connect with those media’s thoughtless consumer zombies without the annoyance of being pulled up and forced to answer questions about the suffering in NZ caused by his policies.

Key won’t apologise when those media over step the mark because he needs them as much as they need him.

    He is a disgusting individual, we should all reject his low attitude of decency and respect for others as he clearly doesn’t care about anything but money (his).

    • Do you honestly think that the extreme left DONT also care about nothing but money?

      I can assure you that they do. The difference is usually that the right care about their own money while the left care more about other people’s money.

              Throughout the ages, political policy of the left has always been based around wealth redistribution rather than basic wealth creation. That is the basis of socialism. Egalitarianism and all that. Their aim has always been to find new and novel ways to tax the “rich pricks” in order to redistribute that wealth to the ‘less fortunate’. That fact is behind the statement I made earlier that the left are more interested in other people’s money.

  4. Yeah couldnt agree more Martyn but its not really surprising as Keys behaviour has worsened with his arrogance as his time in office has gone on and he really does not answer to anybody.
    He has become the all round dicktator and yes i my spelling is correct.
    The public are so brainwashed by all the spin ,bullshit and media adulation with this man that they believe he is the next Moses and are patiently waiting for him to wave a stick and part the waters of the Waitemata harbour one Sunday afternoon when he has got nothing else on.
    But thats what you get when you vote for a man whose only expertise was being a money trader and relieving idiots of their moolah and putting it in his own back pocket,no other qualification other than that.
    The thoughtless consumer zombies are what is keeping him in office that and all the other NZ nasties that vote National every time oblivious to the suffering around them.
    As the saying goes The biggest failure of democracy is that it has given the idiot and zombies the vote.
    Very true if you look around the the empty wasteland that used to be a proud independent egalitarian nation and wonder where did it all go wrong.

    Something stinks to high heaven. A coup happened in the 80’s . NZ has never been the same since..
    People better stop dreaming that “elections” can make a difference., because an overview of the past decades clearly shows how life in NZ has steeply declined for the average NZ family.

    Here is an Excellent précis of a Man we know as “Prime Minister”.

    In NZ we have a “Prime Minister” who has fashioned NZ as a playground for the idle rich and yes Key is very deep into the Global elite clubs around the world. He is an arrogant man by nature, probably due to his past, and then in the highly aggressive ruthless financial currency trading business.

    So a Royal Commission is appropriate if our PM is found to be involved in secretive, Bilderberg/Illluminati type covert planning meetings abroad, to kindle events for his own benefit and destabilise our country’s democracy and undermining all opposition parties to his policies as reported when he attended The Bilderberg 2011-12 secret meetings. These are appropriate issues to focus on, and only such a Royal commission has the scope and depth of reach into these issues and to evaluate as to whether it is appropriate to have these rich and highly greed motivated persons if found by their activities to be “seen as a conflict of interest” as we found Judith Collins was acting in her capacity as a Sworn Cabinet minister and was sacked by the PM for this already.

  7. The only “standards” that John Key respects are his own questionable “standards”, which change by the hour and are there for convenience’s sake, suiting himself as it may please him.

    He is just as convenient with the truth, as we know, so this does not surprise me. No wonder society is as it is now, as the ones leading by example set newer and lower standards as they progress, all the time.

    It is like a bottomless pit, and we may not have reached the rock-bottom yet.
