  1. to add to the high Maori incarceration rates I believe Maori lives aren’t valued as much as non Maori lives when they are killed I would like to see someone research this area.

  2. If you are going to go down the path of ‘are the courts racist’ then you should ensure that you compare apples with apples and be comparing the same crime with a Maori convict and a white one (taking into account one has not commited the crime on parole or has previous convictions for same crime)….I think you will be disapointed that the ‘racist’ courts aren’t really racist, it’s just that Maori are more likely to commit crime (a helluva lot of crime, but I know…I know it’s all the pesky colonials fault) and it’s why most of the population in prison are Maori. It’s not rocket science guys, do the crime and do the time….but what you are infering is that the sentence is harsher for the poor brown boy in the dock than a white one?, let me guess that the ‘expert panel’ tonight come to the conclusion that yes, it’s all against Maori! yaaaaawn.

    • I suppose it hasn’t occuured to you, Imright, to wonder why the stats are skewed so badly toward Maori being imprisoned?

As you say, it’s not rocket science. It’s a matter of historical fact, colonialism, destruction of a culture, expropriation of property, and alienation from their culture and imposition of one alien to them.

Ironically, when Maori do use pakeha institutions such as the legal system, to seek redress for wrongs, you righties then deride them for exploiting a “gravy train”. Seems they can’t win in the eyes of the racist right.

It may not be “rocket science”, but you still don’t get it.

  3. “It’s a matter of historical fact, colonialism, destruction of a culture, expropriation of property, and alienation from their culture and imposition of one alien to them”, NZ was settled over 250yrs ago, are you saying that all of what happened over last 100-200yrs ago should go on for another 200yrs?, National have settled more claims in last 7yrs than any Govt previously, will it ever end…the pay outs?, will it ever end that Maori are walking backwords through life with a ‘woe is me’ attitude? Makes you think how can the Maori in Oz be successful and make a good life for themselves have done that without all the grants/help that Maori get in NZ…funny that eh?

    • Imright, if people stole your land and you had to struggle for compensation, you’s be furious. But because it’s only happening to brown people, it’s easy for you to dismiss the righteous grievances they hold.

You value property rights, but deny it for those who have suffered badly at the hands of colonizers in this country. Shame on you and shame on your vile double standards. The phrase “arrogant racist prick” doesn’t begin to cover your bigotry.
