My god, this is becoming out right corruption now.

REMEMBER when the Panama Papers broke, Key went through 7 stages of denial over this.

1. No we disagree there is any problems and won’t be looking into it.

2. Maybe we will look into it, not sure.

3. I have no money in hidden trusts

4. Definitely no intention to look into it.

5. I’ll have an inquiry set up with an international expert.

6. I’ll have an inquiry set up with a hand selected tax expert.

7. I have got money in a hidden trust but it’s my lawyers fault.

Now we must add to this list of lies and distortion that John Key’s own lawyer, the one who proudly boasts about how he uses NZs Tax Haven to its most advantage…

ChHqVeuWMAASRMw.jpg-large

…the lawyer who uses these trusts for the Prime Minister no less, actually lobbied the Revenue Minister to stop the IRD cracking down on the very trusts he was using to launder the Prime Ministers money!

THIS IS FUCKING OUTRAGEOUS!

The Antipodes email: John Key, his lawyer and foreign trusts

John Key’s personal lawyer cited a conversation with the Prime Minister when lobbying a Minister about a potential crackdown on the lucrative foreign trust industry.

Ken Whitney, the executive director of boutique trust specialist Antipodes, wrote to then-Minister for Revenue Todd McClay on December 3, 2014, over concerns Inland Revenue were sizing up the sector.

Let’s just think about that – the PMs lawyer contacts the Minister, citing a private conversation he has had with the Prime Minister, to stop a crack down on foreign trusts and lo and fucking behold, 5 months later Todd McClay spinelessly does what John Key’s lawyer wants.

Key has built a tax haven, was instrumental in personally intervening in 2010 to create it, had his lawyer lobby the Minister to stop any crackdown and then gets caught out benefiting from the very trusts he’s helped build.

If you are not incandescent with rage now, you are the problem!

In other countries this is called corruption, in NZ the sleepy hobbits of muddle Nu Zilind slowly blink and mumble they’d love to have Key over for a BBQ and a beer.

Key is corrupt, his government are corrupt and the sooner Kiwi’s wake up to the fact that he serves the interests of the rich and powerful and not them, the sooner we can wipe this arsehole!

If we had a functioning fourth estate media who challenges Key rather than this cheerleading squad…

…we’d have ended the nightmare of corruption Key has built far sooner.

PS – Frances Cook’s sour grapes at Greens handing out their exclusive hit on Key explains why media are as much to blame as corrupt politicians. You are there to hold the pricks accountable Frances, not try and gain more clicks and personal ego stroking for yourself.

  1. That’s how we do it in New Zealand – casual. Just a few words at a barbie from one mate to another who sends him off to see his other mate who says ”don’t worry, mate, we’ll put it right.”

  2. Greens go down three points for exposing corrupt Prime Minister. New Zealand First goes up three

    • Every time Key gets caught with his nose in the trough his poll ratings go up.
I wonder what that says about New Zealanders?

      • Marcus, said;
“Every time Key gets caught with his nose in the trough his poll ratings go up. I wonder what that says about New Zealanders?”

Marcus; I wonder that that says about our phoney NZ polls?

  3. Well put Martyn ………. I know your make the most of getting this out to the mainstream and keep it in the public eye till Mr Key comes on your show to apologize and then promptly resign.

Keep the pressure on …………… you are making the msm report these stories.

  4. The worst part of this story is that fact that he will get away with it. Kiwis aren’t interested in politics, they don’t understand it. They complain about housing and inequality, but they can’t be bothered to do anything about it. The next global financial crisis is coming this year, it’s already started, it will put all other financial crisis to shame, maybe this cataclysmic event will get people interested in politics and economy.

    • It’s “death by a thousand cuts”, Paigey. Bit by bit, Key’s reputation gets more and damaged by these sorts of scandals. After a while, the public start looking at alternatives as they tire of all the shit this government seems continually involved in.

      • I agree, he can run and run and run and lie and deny but eventually he will be brought down by the truths and the people finally waking up.
The msm needs to be pressured to get this story out. It is mega important that this comes to the light of day for as many as possible.
        Again Thanks ! Martyn.

    • Magic word that Corruptjohn is steve.

      Good article Martyn.

You are smoking hot onto this mate keep onto it and ask Cunliffe, Winston and Shaw onto your show next week, to keep this alive.

Last night we had three Maori heavyweights on the Land change law issue so we need this also to be lit up with opposition voices.

  5. There’s going to be some information from the Panama papers released about 10 May, exposing names etc I believe, so therefore will have implications for some!

Hope FJK has plenty of clean undies available to him that day!

    • Mary_A

I hope the lame duck Governor General grows some balls and has him hauled up before a impeachment hearing or Royal Commission before then?

Opps! I forgot silly me, he has already bought all the media and judiciary with our hard earned taxes and borrowed money right?

      He is so filthy now.

    • You may very well be right, but we shall see. I imagine — or hope — that a whole range of journalists, of whatever stripe, will be waiting with bated breath the release of all this data by the IJC (is that the acronym?). As I read, the data is going to be slightly censored, in terms of not releasing private emails and that sort of thing, but nevertheless should be full of the juiciest nuggets. But someone else has commented that some of the names revealed may simply be the lawyers or other protective devices, that may or not be penetrable. So it will take some very persistent and dedicated journalism to get through. Hope we may have some.

Me, I’m not so much feeling incandescent rage, rather a world-weary irritation (sorry, Martyn, although I was horrified by the Tax Advertisement you quoted); but also a wee anticipation that a round or so of schadenfreude may be in the offing. That is, if journalists can cut to the chase. But whether main or minor stream, such a juicy prize, surely, will be irresistible.

  6. Key is Corrupt and has shown it many many times while in office. But most of this stuff is behind closed doors so we only ever see the tip of the iceberg when slips are made..

Private Banks and bankers form a den of corruption as they do deals with our money that are not open to examination, but the IRD with its hands tied has still taken them to task for many million. The laws controlling banking give them a free ride to massive wealth all sucked from our pool created from labour.
    ,
Banks generate new money from loans giving them a constant stream of wealth “free” for the taking, which is a corrupt practice in itself. Their network of power and influence bars any recent Govt. from even mentioning this publicly.

Also the corrupt Govt has recently given banks the right to take our deposits to keep themselves afloat when they extract so much capital from banking that their dodgy gambling becomes unstable. The cabinet was advised against doing this but they complied with the off shore banks wishes. Your deposits and mine are at risk because of the corrupt Govt.

John Key was put thereto do a job for the sector and has international PR smoothing the passage with the public. Media is well controlled and rebels dealt to.

John Key works actively against Kiwi interests.

The corruption is rife. Public good has no place in the world of these swine.

    • So, how does neoliberalism, and Tax Havens or today’s socio-conomic order, dovetail into the Panama Papers scandal? And Tax havens generally?

Neoliberalism is the legal equivalent of the Panama Papers. And Tax havens.

It robs the public legally by changing regulations, trade policy, and taxation to enrich the wealthy class at the expense of the middle/lower. For example, America’s “15% carried-interest” taxation rate available to people like Mitt Romney but not available to his gardener. This is joylessly known as “reverse Robin Hood economics,” or taking from the poor to enrich the rich, and it works miracles, just look at how rich Mitt has become and at how his gardener’s wages suck dust.

Neoliberal policies are legally as heinous as the Panama Papers are illegally disgusting. One is legal robbery, the other illegal theft. Both achieve the same end result, taking from the lower and middle classes to enrich the wealthy. There are endless examples of how this slight-of-hand is legally constructed by Congress, worthy of a 200-page thesis.

  7. Wow! You make some pretty strong allegations here, Martyn. If any of them were untrue you’d be in danger of libeling the Prime Minister.

However, since everything you’ve said appears to be 100% factually correct, I doubt you’ve got anything to worry about.

If that’s the case, the only conclusion that can be drawn is that our Prime Minister acted at best inappropriately, at worst illegally, to protect the interests of his personal friend and business associate. That is the definition of corruption.

Our Dear Leader very narrowly scraped out of a similar scandal when it was revealed his chief political advisor, Wayne Eagleson, had colluded with Sky City executives to give Sky City Casino preferential treatment in the granting of gambling licenses.

Will he get away scot-free this time too?

    • If he again gets away scot free – we can partially thank ourselves for allowing it and not standing up and saying — ” We have had a guts full “.

Why are we not forcing him to be accountable for his lies & corruption ? ?
Hope it is in the works and legal action will be taken. We can not impeach him but we can continue questioning his ethics and exposing him at every turn and forcing the msm to get with the program and stop protecting him.

      • Blake, perhaps you’d care to suggest precisely how we can force Key to be accountable when he and his cronies just carry on regardless?

    • every worker has to pay income tax not these corrupt fuckers these corrupt fuckers have to go when is the key resign protest

  8. Key has once again demonstrated a total lack f appreciation as to the ethical requirements of his position.
What is of concern that he and his government seem bullet proof with respect to ethics, human rights etcetera.

The greatest disaster as while the NZ public continue to turn a blind eye to the moral and fiscal incompetence of this government a massive asset bubble is continuing to build.
Sadly it appears that only the bursting of tis bubble will be sufficient to wake the NZ public up.
Key, English, Smith, Joyce and company will do their utmost to prevent this hence the window dressing with respect to placing a moratorium on foreign realty purchases and the total refusal to address the immigration inflows which are a major factor in house rice inflation and infrastructure / services deterioration.
Investment in existing housing stock adds nothing, to at best, very little to per capita well being / productivity etcetera.
There is little real, e.g. per capita, growth in NZ therefore to prevent a disaster Key and co will keep adding to the bubble with greater pain an inevitable outcome.

  9. Its pooopy time — when the names are released and yes we are outraged but not surprised. Poor elite multi – millionaires shaking in their boots about now with not too many mates around saying – ” She be right ” . — We can N O T ! ! allow donky and his cronies to get away with this !

Some of these greedy elites in denial are going to be running for the hills; quickly deleting all emails and trying to cover up any past shady Trust connections. I bet they are scrambling , big time, and the attorneys are making a killing working overtime. Just hoping that the new info and truths about all this greedy slimy deception gives us grounds to get rid of the filth in parliament.

Thanks Martyn. Keep up the great work of exposing our donky come lately – lying and unethical PM.

To : all the Jonky Donky trolls and continued Natz supporters – Wake the f ** k up ! ! !

  10. Nats at 42% in latest Roy Morgan poll and another scandal swirling around our dear Leader.

Maybe the teflon burnt away long ago, and it just took a while before folks realised that the burning smell was Key’s credibility?

My money is on this being Key’s last term.

  11. Good work by the Greens, I must say.

Yes, what a “coincidence”, Key’s (now former) lawyer lobbies for foreign trusts held in New Zealand, the very vehicles that are used to hide wealth from tax authorities in their native countries.

The Panama Papers have already revealed a fair bit and will reveal more soon.

Take a walk through the Viaduct Harbour here in Auckland, and you will be flabbergasted by the numbers of large yachts, cruises and luxury boats there, and you can see the upmarket apartments behind it. At the other end of the spectrum we get the run down state housing in Otara, Glen Innes and so forth. This is just a glimpse of what New Zealand has become.

And yes, Key wanted to create a Jersey of the South Pacific here, he has been quoted as saying this.

Join the dots together, and we can see what has been going on. A leopard does not change its spots they say, neither does the former currency trader, merchant banker and deal maker John Key.

This though is just the tip of the iceberg of what has been and still is going on. Now I read that along with a US warship due in November, Auckland will host a meeting of international arms makers and dealers.

Welcome to the land where the rich, famous and powerful hide their wealth, meet for controversial deals and where the country is by the year downlisted further on the international anti corruption index.

But the vested interest holding and property owning middle class does not care, as the rise in their home’s values keeps them happy and gives them more equity to use for a new flash SUV, an overseas trip and much shopping on the credit card.

The rest are hardly ever reported on, those at the bottom, that is unless they are up before a court for crimes committed, particularly such as “benefit fraud”.

I feel ashamed of what has happened here, and about this new class system we have, which is maintained by just enough that vote in such virtually corrupt governments as the one we have now under John Key.

  12. Is it just me, or is The John Key looking more and more like some sort of mafia boss lately? In a few more years he’ll be the splitting image of Don Corleone, mumbling from his leather chair “I’m comfortable with that (death)”, “New Zealanders don’t care about [insert anything]” and “are you disrespecting me?”. All he needs to do is grow a little moustache.

  13. Well , well , well…. if it isn’t hair pulling/common assault / workplace harassment its TTPA’s and if it isn’t that its the housing crisis and speculators,…and now… with the Greens doing what the media should of been doing all along we see little Johnny boy taking a dive about trust laws and NZ tax havens….

    Gee whiz.

Google Hackpad : Honest John .

  14. The general public of NZ (aka the sleepy hobbits) will just shrug their shoulders and say to themselves that it is just another day in NZ politics and ask themselves a few questions:
Are my shares still going up?
Is my property portfolio still rising exponentially?
Can I still afford my Jaguar/BMW/Holden F…k you wonderwagon?
If the answer is yes they will ask another question.
Is the fact that John Key is a corrupt s.o.b and a liar going to change all this?
If the answer is no, then they will forget all about it in a few minutes.
Such is the depths that NZ has plunged into.

  15. He’s protected still because there is still too much strongly right wing media getting massive air time running interference.
Hosking is probably one of the most vehement Key supporters, and on at prime time every night, with a massive opportunity to influence thousands, and use that opportunity he does, as much as possible.
Almost without fail, every night he is either attacking the Labour party, or defending the undefinable when Key is in the spotlight.
That is only what he does on our state broadcaster.
He is also spreading the same propaganda over the internet and radio waves.
It’s about time people started demanding our state broadcaster go back to being pretty politically neutral like it has largely been, I’m sure in it’s charter it’s meant to be, it’s far from it now, Blue TV would be a good name for it now.

    • If it was a centre-left PM the calls for him/her to go would be hysterical: but the MSM are typically muted about that because it is their mentor on the block this time.

  16. Hosking needs some real media exposure. His bias amounts to much more than opinion and is symptomatic of well “compensated” pimp for the corrupt arm of business NZ deeply mired in stripping wealth from NZ.

There may be numbskulls who soak up his diatribe but the matter of state money being diverted to political propaganda, lies, gross miss representation dial a jerk smoke screens; should not be permissible.

He / they are getting away with it and that’s how the propaganda works.
