The tax haven John Key built is a legalised mafia scam allowing the rich to launder their ill gained wealth – this is on National voters now.

Key personally intervened in 2010 to get the 2011 changes to create tax free foreign trusts and was then warned 7 times that he had built a tax haven. At some point the focus now has to turn to the NZers who are actually supporting Key, those who vote National, because they are the ones enabling this psychopath.

Key has struck a chord deep inside middle NZ and the provincial rump of NZ. Helen Kelly spoke last year of how NZ is a small country with small minds. Our deep streak of negative egalitarian anti-intellectualism detests big ideas, they are scary and frightening.

We like our ideas laid back and something that can be chatted about around a BBQ.

Rugby is such a religion because kicking and running and throwing a ball is all pretty simple.

We like our conspiracies to be basic. Helen Clark didn’t have children and was passing law to stop parents from hitting their kids, Helen Clark told a driver to speed, Helen Clark was trying to tell us what light bulbs and shower heads to use, Helen Clark signed a painting she didn’t paint – those are easy to understand stupidities that barely scratch the surface of the complexities behind each of those examples.

That’s what we love in NZ – simple stuff and no one peddles simple like our comfortable laid back at the end of the day pony tail tugging Prime Minister.

Mass Surveillance was too big an idea for NZers to comprehend. The Moment of Truth clearly proved to us all that the Prime Minister had lied about mass surveillance, but we didn’t want to know because it was too big. The NSA working with the GCSB and SIS created acronym overload.

We started learning things that were too big to talk about openly. The GCSB and SIS both had increases in budget by 250% and 174% within a decade and Key had reorganised the following intelligence apparatus to answer to a small clique of security goons he controls; the Organised Crime Intelligence Unit, Financial Intelligence Unit, Strategic Intelligence Unit, National Bureau of Criminal Intelligence, Identity Intelligence Unit, Threat Assessment Unit, Police Terrorism Investigation and Intelligence Group and the Special Investigation Group.

Who wanted to even try and understand all of that and remain silent? Better to not ask and not know because to do so seems pretentious to even think we can think. Asking questions in NZ makes you  a stirrer.

That so few NZers can connect Kim Dotcom’s case with America’s determination to rule the internet.

Snowden can tell us that the Government is lying to our face and we don’t want to hear it.

The PMs Office colluded with the Secret Intelligence Service to falsely smear Phil Goff months before the 2011 election, but NZers didn’t want to know because it raised all sorts of awkward questions and we don’t do awkward questions well in this country.

Look at the fact we have one of the highest levels of climate change denial in the developed world.

Look how long it took homosexuality to legalise.

Look at how every debate about hungry children boils down to, ‘I-won’t-help-feed- hungry-kids-because-it’s-the-parents-fault-and-feeding-them-will-remove-the- responsibility-from-the-parents’ style arguments, as if teach-a-man-to-fish morality somehow excuses the kids hungry right now without glancing once at the social structure that has exacerbated that poverty.

Look at our counter productive cannabis laws that make Helen Kelly, Sir Paul Holmes and Sir Martin Crowe criminals for using medicinal cannabis.

Look at the way we totally missed what the repeal of section 59, the ‘anti-smacking law’, was all about. We removed a legal loophole that was allowing parents who were charged with assaulting their kids a way of getting away with that abuse.

Look at the hysteria over Maori rights as indigenous people and the fallacy of the ‘one law for all’ ignorance.

Look at how the TPPA is being framed as a ‘free trade deal’ when it’s nothing of the sort. It’s a geopolitical response by America to China in the Pacific, this is ‘Forced Trade’, not free trade, but that idea is way too big for the voters Labour are trying to woo now.

Now look at the double talk Key and the media are spinning that we aren’t a tax haven.

Usually you could rely on the educated middle classes to lift the intellectual level of the debate. They led on creating a Treaty, universal suffrage, worker rights, welfare state, Nuclear Free, Gay rights, MMP, the anti-apathied movement, marriage equality and environmentalism. They are silent now and embedded with Key because their property valuations are making more annually than their actual jobs. They’ll agree to creationism being included in the school curriculum if it means putting off a real capital gains tax for another 3 years.

It’s time to challenge those who are voting National.

Key has connected ignorance with self interest and empty aspiration and it has become a toxic cocktail that shows no end of charming NZers.

  1. keys stronghold is the right/left ideological reactions people have, with key its not about right or left, he is corrupt, you have socialism for the elite and user pays and high taxes for the serfs. those supporting key that are being taken advantage of are dupes

  2. Brilliant article. It is time to bunk up in the hills, the hillbilly mentally is actually living in the cities.
We don’t have time on planet earth anymore to turn around this insanity. The northern hemisphere summer will wake people up, they are in the deep shit from now on, we all are, global warming has the lid popping off. No one really gives a shit, apathy, fantasy thinking and stupidity rule, everyone is so fooled.
The lunatics have won, the prise is a shot planet. They must be annoyed they can’t stick earth’s head on a wall, and get a selfie.
It is time for physical action against the earth killers, but this culture won’t take a short term hit for a long term better option so off the cliff we go.
This culture is very very sick in every sense of the word. It is INSANE literally. And no amount of hope will save us, hope actually keeps us from fighting back, no one will save us not god, not technology, nothing. With no hope and the death of our living planet that we all rely on to stay alive, what will we/you do? Fight back?! What does it take, the Great Barrier reef is dying right now.
Or are we now just chickens so domesticated we are incapable of a wild thought, a natural response, a normal response to someone killing our home we rely on for survival? This IS the ENDGAME.

Like Porky Pig says, “that’s all folks”.

  3. You have hit the nail on the head. One of the many tactics currently being employed by Key is complexity.

Maybe the left have to unite under one banner

    John Key is not honest!

National voters do not like Key either in my view but they just don’t like or trust Labour because Labour and Greens keeps talking about putting up taxes and putting more rules in.

People are already stretched to the hilt by complexity. They don’t want more rules or more taxes. Even the beneficiaries are given 75 page forms to fill out to get a benefit.

In my view as well, Key is using migration to increase National votes. The new migrants are reading the herald each day and hearing what an amazing guy Key is and how stupid Little is. How there are some barking mad Greens out there etc. How awful Kiwis are not being put in jail fast enough even though they are thieving bulging scum. They are voting in the Nats and worried about terrorists coming here.

Migrant figures are approx 1.5% population gain per year on the current Kiwi population. Most moving into Auckland which has 1/3 of election votes. Over 10 years the Nats at the current rate can move in 15% of new people to vote for them. That is yet another devious way they are winning the elections.

Showing what a clear strategy the Natz have, they have removed voting from the increasing prison population another growth area under the Natz.

    • I think I agree that Nats don’t much like JK. You here National mouthpieces like Michele Boag or Rightists like Matthew Hooton declare often and loud how much Kiwis love him, but they never say they love him too.

His main appeal initially was that he wasn’t Helen Clark, then inertia kicked in as the Left put up one unappealing candidate after another.

New Zealanders seem to want to admire their leader for something: being a bully, a good speaker, very rich, witty or, well just about anything you might imagine. Certainly it is hard to find anyone among the Labour front bench who offer that little (and it is really only a little) extra to attract the kind of support needed.

With Clayton Cosgrove leaving, maybe they had better start beating the bushes to find a Lange or a Big Norm to put in immediately. (Cosgrove might be given an offer he can’t refuse to step aside sooner rather than later). My feeling is that if the right person came along, Andrew Little would happily do a John the Baptist.

Unfortunately, being a solid bloke, an honest man or a cautious, methodical organiser do not seem among the desired qualities.

      • as much as little seems like a good guy i dont think nzers see him as a viable leader, thats part of the problem theres no one obvious to relace key as lame as that may be, Id rather just about anyone other than key hes some type of master crime lord from what Ive seen so far. the only person Ive seen out wit key at his own game is peters and Im not sure of peters agenda. concidering the human psyche the obvious alternative is jucinda adern – looks good on tv 😛 answers questions intelligently – Im sure nzers will see her as progresive, so its all about impresions not substance as the key epiode and peters popularity make clear, not saying adern hasnt got any substance at all but she has a good imppresion, lange is an example of some one that was good on tv, spoke clearly and well and had substance

        • What we have, is what we have, lets make the most of it, wishing for this person or that person is self defeating, and a complete waste of time. So if you really want to get rid of John key lets get behind Labour, who are in a far better position under Andrew Little’s leadership than what they were, and the other opposition parties to make sure treasonous dirty John and his corrupt government are kicked out to the political wilderness.

Labour, NZ First and the Greens are on the same page, lets go for it and get rid of the festering sore that is John Key !!!!

          • Couldn’t agree more, but my point is, there has to be something to get behind. I’m not saying that Andrew Little can’t be that kind of leader, just that he isn’t at present and has shown no inclination to raise his eyes above the parapet or emerge from the weeds, to mix a metaphore. I hope I’m wrong.

          • it wont work to pronounce that everyone must get behind the current leader, dictating an idealism wont change a thing. you have to deal with what is and what isnt, most people dont have the time and or the inclination to look at anyone in politics objectively most tend to make conclusions -like it or not- on headlines, outer appearances, what their parents told them, values they were brought up with, peer pressure, etc etc. key has capitalised on this basic understanding his voters are in effect puppets, he gives the impression he is a winner, being on his team ou are winning, leftys is a term now like conspiracy theorist, a lame word, forhis followers is equivelent to lazy, maorifat drug taking leach, winner is worker even if they arent like whale oil, kicking lefty ass etc – anyway its not a platform to go into great detail of the hows and whys, and i say this not as a lefty or righty as Im neither given a choice Id vote for some one like dotcom some one up with the play with the global control of the elite and their programs to control all things. if you really want key out get a alternative to key, jucnda adern is a real possible as far as i can see at the moment

        • Maybe Adern.
I’d like to hear her paint the big picture, sometime. And, by the way, that is my main problem with Little.

An alternative government only interested in the minutae of passing events, no matter how egregious will never inspire anyone beyond the next news cycle.

The Left must stand for something beyond just kinder-hearted management. That, unfortunately, was the only legacy Helen left.

  4. I read something “conspiracy theory-ish” the other day talking about how JK made a rapid escalation through the party ranks – common attribute among CIA plants – and is just a CIA dude here to fuck the rules up so that the “hegemony” can sink its teeth in a bit deeper.
Can’t say I thought any of it was implausible.
His entire political trajectory is completely unlike any other politician in NZ I can think of.
Little old New Zealand. It’s got to be useful to someone, doesn’t it?

    • no more a theory than evolution, just because facts might be unpalatable does not make them less true, still most people prefer comforting lies over hard truths – how many people know about the time Israel attacked & sunk the USS Liberty? (hint, it’s not taught in schools or found in history books). dont forget that the word ‘propaganda’ was changed to the more modern ‘Public Relations’ after WWII made it sound more unpalatable, tell a lie big enough & people will believe it as the alternative is unthinkable to those unfamiliar with the dark arts of war, those interested in researching further should look into Operation Northwoods & Operation Mockingbird – its likely these operations (however modernised) still go on in the world. ignoring / hiding the facts does not mean they don’t exist for those with eyes to see + Ears to Listen.

    • John key was groomed for 6 years before being dropped into the Helenville electorate that had been set up specially for him,(and Key owns that office and land)… I wonder how much rent the tax payer is forking out for Key’s office that he owns?

      Remember double dipping Bill English?

The rot in John key runs very deep indeed. John key should resign.

  5. Great work Martyn. It is way past time for us to stand up and take back our country from these greedy idiots. I carefully listened to John Key in parliament today and he is so slick and dismissive and thinks that he represents the majority of NZ ers.

We can put our foot down, as Iceland did, and get rid of poor quality leadership especially when it is costing many so much each day.
Where is the fire in the guts here in NZ ?

Jonky Donky is supposed to serve his constituents and the people of this country but instead he is serving the best interests and financial gains of his mega-international corporate buddies and most of them are criminals getting away with murder and not paying their fair taxes.
