TVNZ glam?

If TVNZ is ‘glam‘ at the moment, I’d hate to see laundry day – I’d prefer they toned down Mike Hosking, not the wardrobe.

How much more laid back can our news get? The mindless junk scripted banter that they throw between sections to let the viewers know that we are moving from big important adult stuff to the jokey sports section is so painfully informal it’s a 50 person Christmas dinner in a small Parnell apartment.

They may as well get the weather guy to pop on an apron, sanders and socks and do a live Barbie with every forecast each night.

How about professional and authoritative? TV3 seems to have completely sold out on that brand element so it can’t be that expensive to buy at the moment.

  1. Why dontcha wish for a cure for for cancer while you’re at it?

They just love being mindless and stupid; end of story…

  2. Like politics, it’s all about the superficial not the substance. Don’t let the viewers/voters know about substance or they might go elsewhere … if they haven’t already.

BTW is Crosby-Textor now consulting to TVNZ as well? Seeing they’re more and more – even totally – offering superficiality over substance and all that….

  3. There’s glamour on NZ TV???? Shit!! I must have fallen asleep and missed it. But, I remember (cough, cough, wheeze, reach for specs) back in the days of the NZBC, there was smart dress, not glam. Come to think of it, there was smart news too. Sigh . . . . and this is called progress . . . ?????

  4. TV One and Seven Sharp are absolute shite and unprofessional, I don’t think Mike Hoskins could be any more casual, he hardly makes sense now?

    • The nats backed media mouthpieces are busy doing nothing but politically motivated ‘mockery’ in the name of journalism. Most of these honchos are there because they have been buttering up the right kind of asses at the Nats headquarter. It’s an absolute pity and shame that most of such so called journos have no formal qualification or the temperament to be called journalists. Would you go to a doctor who is there because he has 15 years of ‘experience’ as a butcher? Qualification matters more than experience, because at a good school, such mouthpieces will be filtered away at the entrance examination.

  5. Hosking deserves a double serving of pineapple I reckon Devlin did the world a disservice by his untimely intervention in support of oxygen thievery for this jacket tugging PMs pimp

  6. Personally I don’t give a rats what a broadcaster wears, as long as they are able to deliver the news as it is, without the fluff.

But with the concentration more on appearances, it’s obvious now why we aren’t getting any substance in our news delivery! Facade is what it’s all about it seems, while sod the news!

  7. “Hosko” if not FJK’s #1 bumboy is certainly in his top echelon of media bumboys and the rest of the TVNZ crew are little better,

do yourself a favour and ditch them all for good in 2016!

  8. haven’t watched TV or bought a paper in 5 years i download everything i want thats lie i did watch Campbell and let face it NZ media is no where near quality of aljezera,RT or even the BBC. NZ media or hoskins is of no us to me max kaiser has replace hoskins

  9. Well, some of them dress up a fair bit too “glam” I must say, that is particularly some of the female newsreaders and reporters, but also some of the younger male reporters.

I do indeed support less glam and more common attire, as we should not love too much model style dressing of media persons. Does Nicky Hager wear the latest Boss suits or some Italian fashion, I ask?

He does not, he does not need it, and I wish that we get reporters and newsreaders that do indeed focus more on real journalism, and that dress in moderate manners. Do we not want more working class kind of ordinary people being represented, it should start with the newsteams.

As for Hosking, he is an irritant, and should be shifted out of the state owned broadcaster altogether. He may have his collar open and look casual, but he is an arrogant jerk, same as that Paul Henry is on Radio Live and TV3.

As for TVNZ, I wish they reduce or altogether ditch advertising and get taxpayer funded only, and that they also invest more in quality programs, which we once used to get, once upon a time.

Some documentaries and investigative journalism would not go amiss, and less stupid DIY and cooking shows, please.

Roll up your sleeves, TVNZ staff, and put some pressure on your bosses, not re this kind of trivial nonsense, but re your real work, which you are meant to be doing.
