New Zealand’s intelligence agencies are largely staffed by white males in an “old boys’ club” with “excessive” and “unnecessary” racist jokes made at the expense of Maori and Pacific staff, a diversity study has found.
…this is being spun by the Government as a recruitment issue, we shouldn’t allow them to get away with that. The SIS & GCSB are telling racist jokes in the workplace while other Maori and Pacific Island staff have to grin and put up with the racism. What’s the bet they tell sexist jokes as well?
These are the people who have been given enormous power by John Key to legally commit mass surveillance and send that mass surveillance directly to the NSA and it’s staffed by racist scum?
If they are racist towards Pacific Island and Maori – how are they towards Muslims? Isn’t it just too much of a coincidence that at last months review into the Intelligence Services, instead of answering a question as to why the GCSB spied for Tim Groser to get the WTO job, all they wanted to talk about was ‘Jihadi Brides’? NZers and media were scammed into talking about Jihadi Brides and demonised Muslims when we should have been talking about why the bloody GCSB was spying for John Key’s mate a job!
Does this racism expand beyond jokes? Do they target Maori, Pacific Islanders and Muslims more with their powers? They spy agencies claim they have an ‘unconscious bias’, which is exactly what the Police admitted to last month as well.
How much ‘unconscious’ bias does one need before you have to admit that you are a conscious bigot?
How have we allowed spy agencies to be staffed by racist scum and how have we allowed them so much power? Remember the SIS worked with the PMs Office to falsify information and smear Phil Goff in the lead up to the 2011 election. Key denied he knew Ian Fletcher yet upon perusal we learnt that not only was Ian Fletcher a boyhood friend but that Key and Fletcher had breakfast a few hours before he was picked to head the GSCB.
Despite more qualified contenders for the job on Keys short list.
After the illegality of the warrant and thus of the arrest , seizure of assets and imprisonment of Kim Dotcom – particularly after it was found that the spying on Dotcom and others was illegal – Ian Fletcher resigned as head of the GSCB and till this day refuses to discuss his role around those events.
Even the sequence of events which saw the SIS strongly advising to deny Kim Dotcom residency in New Zealand and then their advise overturned within an hour by the dept of Immigration headed by Jonathan Coleman smacks of entrapment for the USA’s purposes…

John Key gets in on the act – but only AFTER the reporter had exposed discrepancies in Wilces CV – as did the Defense Force who suddenly DENY it was because of the findings of reporters in the TV 3 60 Minutes programme.

June 17th 2011 Ian Fletcher takes 1 days leave from his Brisbane govt job to attend an interview with Key in Auckland , – Key has a breakfast with Ian Fletcher … Keys shortlist is thrown out on July 6th.
Later on , Keys calls Fletcher to apply for the job. Fletcher then is interviewed for the job on July 26th , then gets the job as Chief of the GSCB .

Er, no… the point is that we don’t know how many Maori are applying for these jobs or whether they are suitably qualified.
Believe it or not, jobs and promotions are usually rewarded based on things like experience, education, performance, etc. NONE of which are looked into by David Fisher.
He simply looks at the stats that say “women make up 51% of the population, but only 40% GCSB staff, ergo they must be sexist”, which is simplistic claptrap.
But seeing as we’re discussing it, why don’t you tell us how many Maori A) finish school and B) obtain any sort of tertiary education
Then we can see for ourselves whether the GCSB are indeed being racist, or whether the pool of suitably-qualified Maori is in fact severely limited.
Prove to me that the GCSB are inundated with job applications for well-qualified, experienced and educated Maori candidates who are being overlooked in favour of inexperienced, under-educated, under-performing white males… because David Fisher certainly hasn’t managed to get anywhere near proving this.
Well to be honest I hope they do target Muslim communities considering a terrorist attack is 99% likely to come from their community.

Now a simple observation of the efficiency of those paid by the neo liberal right wing is the speed with which they are generally always the first responder’s to websites such as these.
And the motive is simple : to create the impression that opinions expressed here are of a ‘ minority ‘ , that they ( the Left ) are of a ‘marginalised’ sector, that the appalling reality of what is happening to this country …always was, … and always will be , ….and that there is no alternative.
IT IS PRECISELY BECAUSE of this patronage that we know that we are threatening these people.

And how does this apply here in New Zealand?
Quite simply , taking the first premise : Politics’s is war.
The fact is , – ALL politics is war and ALL war is ECONOMIC.
And since 1984 , there has been a thirty year war waged against the public of New Zealand. It is replete with its own propaganda systems , financial backing , dividing of resistance , converting that resistance to compliancy , disinformation programs , media blackout of its failures , embedding of agents in key positions , – in short – ALL of the qualities one might see in any military / political campaign to conduct warfare.
The first to go are usually the academics.
These are the easiest to control as a simple denial of funding soon gets them into line. The second is usually the media . Simply by embedding sympathetic agents among the media senior positions and employing a descending self policing aspect – in this case by threat of job loss through non compliancy … these are also easily as cowed.
None of these fields are taken over and then simply left leaving a vacuum – they all have the hallmarks of an ideological takeover by filling that vacuum with an adherent of the more aggressive ideology in senior positions – usually with a financial reward for their services.
But in order to fight any war… you must at least know exactly who your enemy actually is…
You see…we of the center left and left are great at railing against ‘ right wingers ‘ and being just as guilty as the right in making gross generalizations… but we are very tardy when it comes to identifying EXACTLY WHO is our enemy.
A simple example is when this country functioned under social democracy … there was not a great deal of difference between the National party and the Labour party back then.
And so we see that the National party IS NOT your enemy , the Labour party IS NOT your enemy , the MANA party IS NOT your enemy , NZ First IS NOT your enemy ,…and so on and so forth…
So just who is ?
THE ENEMY that has perpetrated all these things on New Zealanders are the NEO LIBERALS.
And there is no use trying to take them all on at once, instead- go for the weakest and isolate them. Not all in the National party are content to play second fiddle to a small group who hold sway, and not all in the Labour party are neo liberals – as evidenced by the party membership who are largely discontented with the predominance of neo liberals in caucus.
And useful neo liberal stooges are just that – as evidenced by Kelvin Davis travelling to Christmas Island – or David Seymour in opposing Keys surveillance because of his ‘ individualist’ neo liberalism.
Use them.
Then round on them.
Dirty Politics?
Not really… for a start we do not use govt dept’s to slant public perceptions and influence voting patterns unlike the current neo liberals, … there was a time when politics in this country was relatively clean, – the neo liberal takeover of 1984 ended all that.
IT WAS NOT THE SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC LEFT, who abused our democratic systems to political advantage nor was it in fact the Right… but the new right … the Neo liberals.
But ALL of these things count for nought if the social democratic Left does not unite. And to do that needs a new and bold initiative. And that would include a ‘ summit ‘ meeting as it were of leaders of all major Left party’s , in order to establish certain commonality’s of policy and to determine tactical voting – way before any general election.
This would do several things : those vehemently opposed would soon be isolated as the neo liberal sycophants they are. They therefore would have no party to these ‘summit meetings ‘.
As well as this , tactical voting could be worked out to avoid cross purposes in any given electorate. And utilitize MMP for what it was originally designed for.

Are you kidding? Fisher’s article is statistically-illiterate claptrap.
It’s like me saying “the people who have collected my rubbish for the last 30 years have always been male and Polynesian, ergo waste management companies are sexist and racist”. Or “90% of staff behind the make-up counters at Farmers are female. SEXIST!”
We have no idea how many women / Maori APPLIED for these positions. It could well be that even though women hold only 40% of roles at the GCSB, only 10% of job applicants were women; therefore women actually have a higher ‘success rate’ when it comes to interviews and promotion.
But we don’t know because Fisher is only telling us half the story.
One of the most ridiculous parts of Fisher’s article is, “Diversity in gender was also an issue, with female staff reporting promotion being a case of “not what you know, it’s who you know”.
Female staff reported this based on what???
It’s pure speculation. It’s the old “you didn’t promote me because I’m female/black” whinge – which fails to take into account performance, experience, education, aptitude, psychological testing, how well you interviewed, etc, etc.
As for the sexist/racist jokes – WHO CARES? Pretty sure any Australian or Brit has also been teased in the workplace. They could also say that they are subject to “racial bullying”. Boo hoo – he called me a ‘whingeing pom’ waaaaaaaah!
