So the choice is between the colonial butchers apron of the British Empire or a click art corporate sports logo that censors out Maori altogether.

There is zero reference to Maori in the new flag, which is so like National Party supporters to simply erase them from our national symbol.

A flawed process developed to act as a political distraction has ended up being a Rugby flag.

How Nu Zilind of us.

At least Red Peak had some flair.

The 305 000 kids living in poverty will be so thrilled that a sports flag could be our new national symbol as they lie shivering in freezing state houses. They’ll be so excited to know it cost $26million rather than feeding them.

A flag is made by what it stands for, this week-bix packet clip art says we are shallow, insincere and have the creativity of an open sewer.

My guess is that there are probably enough National voter rugby heads to make this the new flag, that more people voted for this trash referendum than the asset sale referendum is a blinding reminder of what happens when the right wing take over the media.

    • Ask the Right Honourable PM how many Maori voted, the QR code on the voting paper will tell him how many Maori, left-wing bastards like ngati tangata John Campbell and women with ponytails voted.

May as well barcode citizens or number them like Big Brother did with Winston

“‘Smith!’ screamed the shrewish voice from the telescreen.
‘6079 Smith W.! Yes, YOU! Bend lower, please! You can do
better than that. You’re not trying. Lower, please! THAT’S
better, comrade. Now stand at ease, the whole squad, and
      watch me.’”

“For many, the blurred blue lines of a serial number on a forearm are an indelible image of the Holocaust. The tattoos of the survivors have come to symbolize the utter brutality and of the concentration camps and the attempt of the Nazis to dehumanize their victims.”

Putting a QR Code on voting forms allows those with the power to XKEYSCORE data, to mine voting data, and then none of us are safe from the dicktators.

Let’s see if Key, Crosby, Textor and Co allow Tino Rangatiratanga flag to be included in the vote, or at the very least, make ONE of the Southern Cross stars MORPH into a Koru!! I’m sure that Peter Jackson and the Weta Crew can engineer a more inclusive flag.

He aha te mea nui o te ao
What is the most important thing in the world?
Pakeha ma taonga, Pakeha ma taonga, Pakeha ma taonga

Or is it just about the rich white people, like Key, his cabal and the other 10% ers?

  1. “week-bix packet clip art”

Yep, but I bet JK is ‘comfortable’ with that.

As well as being ‘relaxed’ about

    “censors out Maori”

I can just see JK saying

“It’s got black in it, doesn’t it, that represents multiculturalism to the vulture capitalists that I’m selling our country off too”

    What an embarrassment!

    • If we are going to change the flag it has got to be something better than the thing we are being presented with. Black and blue are a hideous combination unless its a bruise, and the fern on it is awful, really tacky.
I really do think we need Maori art motif somewhere, as that element is the only thing we are and no-one else is.
As much as I despise black on a flag, it is depressing and it will fade something awful, the only design of the ones on offer that came close to a Maori motif was the koru.
I actually thought the koru flew really well.

  2. the “butchers apron” (British Imperialism’s history is drenched in blood, including my Irish ancestors) should stay for a while longer yet, Key wants to send the settler and iwi past down the memory hole, but reminders are needed until Māori are doing way better in this post colonial country

the whole flag fiasco has been a bent exercise in manufacturing consent; from the panel manipulating its commissioned polling, co-opting the All black captain, deviating from anything approaching good design practice, insider conflicts of interest to totally sidelining a debate on republicanism

people should vote for the existing flag in round 2 to kick Keys arse and to put off the decision for a hopefully better result in future from a genuinely engaged populace

Martyn may be right though that the rugby heads will take it seriously and vote big for the weetbix flag, and fly their free flags (its true you can get them), the Nats will probably ship them in bulk

  3. @ Martyn Bradbury . You write:
“My guess is that there are probably enough National voter rugby heads to make this the new flag”

I think you’ve just described the psychological phenomenon known as the Stockholm Syndrome.

The Mystery of Loving an Abuser

    Introduction

” People are often amazed at their own psychological conditions and reactions. Those with depression are stunned when they remember they’ve thought of killing themselves. Patients recovering from severe psychiatric disturbances are often shocked as they remember their symptoms and behaviour during the episode. A patient with Bipolar Disorder recently told me “I can’t believe I thought I could change the weather through mental telepathy!” A common reaction is “I can’t believe I did that!”

    @ Martyn Bradbury.

    Know your enemy.

The MSM has conditioned a section of NZ/Aotearoa’s population into becoming enamoured with their abusers.
The ‘scary thing’ ,and one of many, is that those abusers have a military and a police force to protect themselves should they ever be challenged or defied once discovered/seen/understood/been outed/spotted standing amongst the crowd.

That’s why I’m in favour of involving the police in any reactionary efforts and bringing the farmer over from standing out in some windswept paddock being preyed upon by jonky’s evil hoards. Take away jonky’s protection and take away his ( our ) money.

The people whom might vote for jonky, who agree with jonky, defend jonky, look the other way when jonky does bizarre and damaging things to society and individuals is because of the Stockholm Syndrome in my opinion.
There are a great many people who wouldn’t/couldn’t dare rise up against a giggling , effete and a seemingly jolly good bloke when around the barbi. Never mind the fact that he’s just spent $26 million dollars of our money on a psychological stimulant to leverage us away from the sovereignty of our own country for his in-coming Zionist mates before his other Zionist mates in the USA light up the middle East with a nuclear fire storm for their oil. And what about the other millions, perhaps billions of dollars he’s siphoning off while we pretend he’s the aforementioned jolly good bloke? Because the opposite is too horrible to countenance.? Will we look back and not believe what we allowed a little scum bag like jonky with his cadre of powerful elites to do to us while advising him of his next move on how to head-fuck us on the deal?
We Kiwis are strong people and hard working and multitalented . We do extraordinary things and achieve important world-firsts and we’ve been reduced to being abused by a small rich man with no talent other than for gathering together up the money of others for his own use.

Anybody seen Nigel Latta lately? Remember him as the bouncy castle equivalent of the psychologist of choice for the jonky hoards ? Remember how he slithered about on stage in his absurdly highly polished shoes telling us that he knew more about us then we did ? The outcome of that kind of thing is that we gave up our minds to that creep without a challenge. Then once that happened , other elements came in to play from left field after he tilled the fertile soils of your minds.

In the immortal words of Vivienne Westwood when speaking of her witnessing the 9/11 event. “You have to trust yourself. Of course you do. And in the case of the twin towers, my eyes tell me it’s a demolition.”

We Kiwis are witnessing the demolition of our society, our young people, ( Tomorrows annoying and very likely expensive adults ) and our very connections to our lands by psychological stealth levelled at us by a frightening force. ( @ Maori ? Sound familiar ? )

My eyes tell me these things . Not fucking jonky, not that scum bag latta , not the careless and lazy MSM and not you either. I see with my own eyes thank you very much and I see a fucking swindle.

For those of you who think that since your abuser’s started up the flag-change debate and spent our money, then we might as well get rid of the old flag with its colonial connotations ? You’re fools. You’re all fools. You’re letting your abuser do your thinking for you. Put on Vivienne Westwood’s eyes , before it’s too late.
The flag MUST stay as it is and we must hold fast until we can sort this jonky-esque/financialization of our economy/ farmers swindled out of their money/305 K hungry kids/ red herring, rugby mania mess out.

    • +100 Red Peak had absolutely no flair . It was the corporate logo for a surveillance company in Britain….someones’ very BAD cynical joke on New Zealanders ( imagine if we had been stupid enough to have chosen this for our NZ flag!)

      http://www.activesecuritygroup.co.uk/

… and James Shaw and a few other prominent Greens in the Green Party fell for it amazingly enough!…either they are stupid or perhaps perhaps all is not as it seems

(as one astute commentator pointed out:

      “the Red Peak flag was created by a Xero product design director (Dustin), has had its online campaign coordinated by another Xero associate (Simpson), and was included in the top 40 while the Xero CEO (Drury) was one of the dozen on the selection panel;

perhaps we should ask how has the Greens relationship with that company changed recently?

Two years ago: Norman issued a media release yesterday questioning whether Palantir, a firm co-founded by wealthy US technology investor and Xero shareholder Peter Thiel, had been hired by the Government to spy on New Zealanders…”

Luckily ‘Red Peak’ became a Green lemon…because NZers weren’t stupid enough to vote for it

  4. The only one that screamed ‘corporate logo’ to me was the red peaks fiasco. I see nothing corporate logo, sports or otherwise, here.
I don’t see how it ‘censors Maori’ either.
    Perhaps the old flag did.
Maybe somebody’s trying to be a tad politically correct?
It reminds me of petit little forum exchanges I’ve been involved in, where the pathetic challenge has been thrown at me over the red peaks scenario, ‘Are you Maori or European’.
The reply has always been, ‘Neither, I’m a Kiwi’.
It hasn’t been all that hard to spot the closet racists.
I suggested to all the ‘Europeans’ that they all go back to whatever part of Europe they claim as home, if they have feel insufficient emotional fealty to call themselves a New Zealander.
The degree of sun-tan, at least to me, is almost immaterial, and the fern varietal, being distinctly of New Zeraland, represents both.
Maybe some need to understand that the koru is a fern, also.
If they even understand that much.

  5. Yes, I also miss a Tangata Whenua input and honouring in an new flag, and while I think the one that was voted first in the first round of the referendum is probably not the worst choice, we deserve better.

May I propose we conduct a country wide protest, that is, by taking all flags down, and replacing them with a pair of undies or ordinary shorts, to fly in the wind. Let us become the first country with NO flag, where we protest as such, and show them up in the Beehive our middle finger salute to all this staged theatre.

A pair of undies, every one putting his or hers up on a pole, hung out of the window or from the balcony, that may be the appropriate signal to our Esteemed Leader, to take note. But he is in Hawaii now, playing golf, and waiting for his friend Obama, for the next photo shoots.

So he does not really care anyway. I wonder what flag flies over his holiday mansion there?

    • actually on the anti- TPPA march I went on there were quite a few Maori waving the existing flag…they were the main supporters of the existing flag

Pakeha so called “radicals” of Irish extraction, who hate the British… maybe underestimating the support for the existing flag which does represent the Treaty and upholding the law of the Treaty …at least in spirit

there is nothing jonkey would like better than to replace the existing flag with the corporate one of his mates

  6. @cb – everything unravels when ‘you see it with your own eyes.’ Guessing you’ll know what I mean. Keep the flag!

  7. A flag whose major colors are black and blue!

How appropriate for a nation that, per capita, has a very high number of wife-beaters.

  8. This from John Key today in the NZ Herald …..

”You see the arguments from the RSA that, well, people fought and died under the flag – and that’s true. They certainly did fight under the flag.

“But I think they actually fight for values and principles – human rights, women’s rights and democracies.”

Interesting ….with Key pulling a woman’s hair over 10 times over a period of 6 months and when asked to desist… persisted..

And accusing the opposition of backing murderer’s and rapists when deflecting the appalling conditions of New Zealanders being held by Australia on Christmas Island…

And mass surveillance, and un-democratically signing the TTPA , and spying for America on China and other Pacific nations, lying about committing troops to Iraq, and Dirty Politics (ongoing) and manipulating our once free and unbiased media …

Read it again and ask yourselves if this man does not deal in lies and doublespeak… here it is again…

”You see the arguments from the RSA that, well, people fought and died under the flag – and that’s true. They certainly did fight under the flag.

“But I think they actually fight for values and principles – human rights, women’s rights and democracies.”

I think its time we ‘get some guts’ and eject the little Zionist puppet from our parliamentary system as he has lied and manipulated for far too long now… hopefully sensible pills will be invented and widely distributed come next election to rid ourselves of this malignant little man.

  9. Asset referendum was non-binding and we all knew what was going to happen anyway, don’t give the voters too much crap for it lol.
