If we are going to change the flag it has got to be something better than the thing we are being presented with. Black and blue are a hideous combination unless its a bruise, and the fern on it is awful, really tacky.
I really do think we need Maori art motif somewhere, as that element is the only thing we are and no-one else is.
As much as I despise black on a flag, it is depressing and it will fade something awful, the only design of the ones on offer that came close to a Maori motif was the koru.

May I propose we conduct a country wide protest, that is, by taking all flags down, and replacing them with a pair of undies or ordinary shorts, to fly in the wind. Let us become the first country with NO flag, where we protest as such, and show them up in the Beehive our middle finger salute to all this staged theatre.
