Serco Sam has done it again. Just when you didn’t think you could cringe any more when you see his wide eyed face bob up on TV like a frightened lamb, he’s managed to justify teenagers locked up in an adult prison for 23hours a day because prison’s “hard places“.
Oh no he didn’t. Oh no he didn’t. I know he didn’t.
How utterly damning is that statement. If you think making teenagers suffer in an adult prison where they are locked up like animals in cages is acceptable, then you are part of the problem.
Teenagers require a safe environment where they can be reached out to and brought off the pathway they are becoming doomed to walk. Deforming people and warping them for punishment only produces more damaged people. It’s counterproductive in the extreme and is politics at its worst.
This is cruelty as State policy, Serco Sam is out of his depth philosophically, intellectually, ethically and morally. He is up against Serco – one of the most powerful corporations you’ve probably never heard of – and when a Minister is failing as poorly as this one is, it’s only right to replace him.
If Key were smart he’d replace Serco Sam with Judith Collins. Let her handle the hot potato of Serco. If she fails he dents her politically, if she succeeds he takes the glory for looking magnanimous working with a rival for a better outcome. Seeing as Serco Sam is a cult member of the Collins Coven, replacing him with Judith might also poison that well.
One thing is for certain, with Serco taking the Government to Court over a damning report, Sam is too far out of his depth to succeed.
To spin it around, Kelvin Davis should start suggesting it to John Key in Parliament.
I’ll assume his “hard places” comment was thoroughly focus grouped, giving just the right ring tone to cover up the ugliness that is 23 hour lock downs especially of youth.
There is no way he would have said that, much less opened his trap or even moved in public until he was told he was allowed to do so!
You may find this sort of relaxed, who gives a shit attitude from this government may see more youth offenders remanded in the community, probably when they should not be, by judges realising the alternative is unacceptable.
Here ya go – a little bit of Marc Bolan and T.Rex ….all about a guy called Telegram Sam….or is it?

This shows overseas corporations are ruling over governments now days.
Shades of life under TPP, Serco wont allow losing profits and is taking government to court ,NZ should be taking Serco to court but Mr Key wont do that .
Indeed ELLE – judging by what went on not so long ago SERCO should be the ones with their arses squarely kicked all over the countryside and have their contract terminated then unceremoniously drummed out of the country.
And Telegram Sam the Serco fail man should have been made to resign for gross incompetence for allowing that situation to go on inside our prisons for so long.
But no , not in this country anymore …we’ve caught up with the rest of the world where corrupt officials and politicians can smile and bluff and bullshit their way out of their misdeeds and STILL remain in office.
And we’ve all heard the old truth …. ” Woe to those that call evil good and good evil ” …
You know that one now dontcha Sam ,….of course you do.
[…] As TDB suggested, Crusher Colins replaces Serco Sam. […]
