As TDB blogged last week, activism against this Government’s undemocratic flogging off of economic and political sovereignty by signing the TPPA will reach civil disobedience levels.

Today brave protestors stormed Key’s Parliamentary Office...

A member of a group opposed to the Trans-Pacific Partnership has been arrested for assault after staging a protest at Prime Minister John Key’s electorate office in Kumeu this morning.

…next week members of ‘Show us ya Text’ storm Parliament to seize the TPPA text.

When a Government is simply going to hand over our economic and political sovereignty to American Corporations, citizens of conscience must engage.

That engagement steps up next week on the 15th on the steps of Parliament.

  1. Pies at the bakery near JK’s office ain’t bad, if one should find oneself out those ways.

Allow me to congratulate the group for their successful action today, and to wish them all the best for next week.

  2. They didn’t STORM anywhere.
They peacefully ‘occupied’ his office. Will you NOT add fuel to the bloody lamestream’s deliberate misreporting of this action please!

        • The connection isn’t obvious to you? Well, as I see it, she was responsible for bringing real democracy to NZ. Before her efforts, women were relegated to the position of passive observers, with no right to say what happened, regardless of their intelligence, or contribution to society. Under TPPA, with the investor state dispute settlement clauses, we as ordinary kiwis, regardless of our intelligence or contributions, may find ourselves in the same position. We may lose the right to have our voices heard for fear of instigating an ISDS litigation. We are threatened, as a nation, with being returned to the same powerlessness that women used to suffer.

  3. Dunno, but it’s long odds that 3 Kate’s all turn up at the same time. Bloody big name badges too – must be a bugger to pin onto a shirt.

  4. Once again I say, read Wake Up NEW ZEALAND,today it states the 1% bankers and corporations are going down.
The world is rising against the US dollar.
The elite who have controlled us for so long are at the end of their power.
The new BRICS countries are winning,no longer using the US dollar.
The more we do against the TPP will save us in the end .
Lets hope the demise of the dollar is the demise of all the 1% crooks and the end of our dictatorship under Key ,his backing will dry up with the demise of the corporations and greedy bankers, cant come too soon.

  5. Hope some kiwis get up their asses and stand up Keys bullying and lying once for all.
Your country and way of life is been threatened and you are let this happening because of your cowardice?
thanks to this young women that restore ones faith in dignity and democracy, the real one not the fake that the US is trying to imposed in some regions of the world.

    • Good points Esteban, but if I know the Kiwis at all it’s not cowardice but sheer laziness. They can be very brave when they want to but they do prefer being lazy.
