First it was worm farms are high risk – now the Government want to add secret courts to the health & safety legislation!!!

I just don’t even know where to begin on this…

New health and safety laws contain ‘secret courts’ provision
A last minute change to new health and safety laws expands the use of controversial “secret courts.”

The Law Society has drawn attention to a late addition to the contentious reforms.

It would allow hearings behind closed doors to protect national security. Secret intelligence could be introduced into proceedings by the Government, but neither the defendant or their lawyers can see the evidence.

…why are the Government slipping this in last minute? What possible justification is there for secret courts that have been created to fight terrorism into health and safety legislation? Is this to stop GCSB or SIS employees from taking the Government to court?

The Government have to explain why the bloody hell secret courts are being jammed into this legislation with bugger all debate.

It’s incredible that this Government can ram through laws for booze companies in time for the RWC, can change laws for Easter trading yet won’t implement health and safety legislation that will anger Farmers.

This is the Government NZers voted for?

    Why do we need ‘secret courts’ in the first place?

    Oh yes, that’s right so NatzKEY is able to pass ominous legislation in the dark of night!

    What sort of judges would be involved in this? Oh yes, that’s right the same judges on FJK’s payroll, paid well to sign off NatzKEY’s ominous legislation in the dark of night. Then they can obediently obey instructions to turn a blind eye to NatzKEY cronies’ misdemeanors!

    While at the same time, the very same corrupt secret court judges will also authorize police to close down blog sites with alternative perspectives, claiming the right to do so under the Harmful Digital Communications legislation! All for the public good of course! Then there will be judicial warrants issued for raids on the homes and personal effects of those considered subversive … oh wait ….!

    Hmm … considering all that, perhaps secret courts might become high risk as far as health and safety is concerned, particularly once the citizenry finally wakes up, shakes itself off and begins the charge towards putting a stop to NatzKEY once and for all!
